Everett

Time has never passed more slowly than it is right now as I am making my way to the hotel. I rush over to my room that I share with Pierce, who told me that he would rather drink horse piss than be in that room while both Zachary and I are there. Opening the door, I see Zachary sitting on my bed. He looks up and smirks when he sees me. He stands up, and I let my gaze drift over him as he is still wearing my jersey.

“I am wearing your name just as you'd wanted, asshole. Look your fill now cuz never again am I doing this.” He says as I drop my bag on the floor and make my way to him.

“Never say never,” I say.

Zachary grins. “You have got that look on your face. Like you think I hung the moon and the stars and invented orgasms.”

I snort at him, not being able to deny that seeing him in my jersey really is doing all sorts of shit to me. Who'd have thought? He takes two strides, extinguishing any space between us. The predatory gleam in his eyes nearly made my knees buckle.

“You made me wear it, so I think it's your duty to get me out of it too, if you want it back that is.” He slips his hand under my shirt, drawing patterns on my lower back. A thrill shoots through my whole body. He pulls me closer and then does some ninja shit, and I was on the bed, flat on my back. I loved it when he got like this.

I grab the hem of his shirt as he straddles over me and pulls it off of him. “I think I have done my duty pretty well.” I grin.

Zachary smirks down and me pulls my shirt off too. “So much better.”

He traces his fingers down my chest, to my abs and then to the waistband of my pants, his eyes tracing the path of his hand. He looks back, meeting my eyes with that burning Embers. God, he was so beautiful. So beautiful because I love him. I meet his eyes with the same desire coiling in my chest. That undid us both, and we clawed our clothes off so fast I didn't even notice to breathe. I laid there on my back with Zachary looming over me.

“You're breathless, and we haven't even done anything yet.” Zachary grins down at me, mischievously.

“Are you going to waste time just talking or are you actually going to do something.”

“I don't know Everett, I think you like talking to me. Maybe I should take my time.” Zachary drawls with that damn arrogance that I used to hate.

“You piece of shit.” I grit through my teeth. I grab his neck and pull him down to me for a kiss. Dragging my hands down his back, I feel his muscles flex. He kisses my neck and then nips. I move my head back to give him more space.

“I think I am losing my mind.” Zachary whispers.

“I think that ship sailed a long time ago.”

He bites my shoulder blade then, and I clutch onto his shoulders. “As long as you are losing yours too. With me,” he says.

We kiss again and then again. So much that I think Zachary imprinted himself in my bones through his lips. Something as huge as the world meant nothing to me as he grounded me while driving me absolutely crazy. Only he has ever been able to do that.

Losing myself to him is like seeing the world from space. So beyond everything that I could ever imagine.

And to feel this, I will lose my everything to him.

He lays his face on my chest as he breathes through his mouth. I hold on to him as we both try to gain back our senses.

“Two goals in the field and one in the bedroom. I fucking scored a hat-trick.” I grumble.

Zachary pushes himself up on his elbows and looks down at me, and then he laughs. The vibration of his chest against mine.

I need to tell him I love him.

“That makes no sense. I think I fucked you too good.” Zachary says through his laugh.

I enjoy the way he laughs. So free. So beautiful. I want to tell him how I feel.

My phone buzzes from my shoulder bag. I groan in irritation. Zachary shakes his head and falls onto the bed beside me. Throwing my legs out the bed, I make my way to the bag and take out my phone. I check the caller ID; it reads Finley.

“Dude. We are hitting the club. Get Zachary to come too, I don't care if you were fucking or planning your damn wedding, you ain't ditching us.” Finley says, firmly.

“We were actually planning the names of our kids.” I tell him.

“Zachary is a dead man if he got you pregnant and didn't take responsibility for it,” Finley says.

“Don't worry, he is definitely taking responsibility.” I turn to Zachary with a smirk. Zachary scoffs as he puts on his boxers and throws me mine.

“He better. Also, don't make us wait.” Finley cuts the call. I watch Zachary put on clothes, albeit a bit disappointed that I couldn't enjoy being with him all night.

“That look again, Everett.” Zachary rolls his eyes at me.

“Get used to it, asshole.”

“I don't think I ever will. It makes me feel too much.”

A lump forms in my throat. That is not something Zachary would say lightly. Oh, god. I know exactly what you mean, Zachary. You make me feel too much.

“Zachary I-”

Zachary throws a shirt at me with a grin. “Let's go.”

Not yet. I'll tell him at the club. I grin as I get dressed. We meet the rest of the guys down and head off to a club. Pierce goes right for the alcohol. Sloane drags Finley to dance with as they make stupid faces at each other as Both of them realize that neither of them can dance. We all settle ourselves in seats with a corona.

I stare at Zachary as he talks to Alice, making her laugh. He smiles at her. She says something right back, making him choke on his beer and turn to look at me. He catches me looking and grins wickedly, raising his eyebrows.

I shrug and mouth, “Boyfriend privileges.”

He gets this soft look on his face that made me stop breathing. Every time Zachary does that it makes me lose reality. Knowing the fact that I am the only one who gets to make him get that expression on his face is overwhelming in the best way possible. Zachary beckons me to the empty seat next to his. I turn back to the freshmen I was talking to.

“I need-” I start.

“Boyfriend calling. Got it.” The guy smirks at me. I roll my eyes at him.

Pushing through the crowd, I make my way to the seat beside him and drop on it. Alice grins at me. “Who'd have thought I'd see the day you both would be so gone for each other. I am kind of terrified and excited.”

“Tell me about it.” I say.

Zachary hands me his beer and I instinctively take it and sip from it before giving it back to him. He continues drinking just like he had been doing and Alice chuckles at us.

“Or maybe you both just never realized that you both were always attuned to each other, just like you didn't notice it now.” Alice says and gets up to make her way to Dylan. I watch her go then look back at Zachary. His face elucidated by the strobe lights. Making his eyes seem almost red.

“Dance with me?” I ask him.

He looks at the dance floor and then back at me. “I don't dance.”

“Me neither.”

He grins as he puts out a hand for me to take. “Let's go.”

Making our way to the dance floor, I let myself tune everything out except Zachary. We both hold each other close. We just sway to the music at first, getting used to it. I grin at him then and wiggle my hips clumsily. He laughs but then does the same. It definitely isn't dancing, more like making complete fools of ourselves and laughing at each other. I pulled him so close that he pressed against me, not caring who saw. Looking at his face, all I can think of is how I feel about him. How I want to tell him that even if he probably won't feel the same.

“God, Zachary. I—”

Zachary suddenly looks down at his pocket and pulls slightly away from my grip and takes out his phone.

“Let me just take the call outside, and I'll be back.” He smiles at me. I kiss him lightly before letting him go. Swiftly moving, he makes his way outside, and I sit back with Pierce who was drinking vodka and flirting with a lady. I wait for Zachary to come back. Ten minutes and still he isn't back. Dread settles in my gut and I push forward to get out of the club. I search around the club, and he isn't here anywhere.

My pulse speeds up as I try calling him. He doesn't pick up, and I get a text from him.

Zachary : Need to leave. Sorry.

I reread the message, but that's it. Nothing more. I go back inside the club and inform Sloane that I have to leave. She looks at me concerned, but I reassure her that everything is fine. I drive as fast as the speed limit allows me to and make my way to our hotel room. Opening the door, I enter the room hoping to see Zachary in here. But he isn't here. It sank in that he isn't here, and he left again without talking to me about it. Without telling me why. I would have taken a knife to my heart instead of feeling like I feel now. That call was definitely from his father, I know that. And the fact that he thought he couldn't tell me that hurts.

I thought he would tell me if it came down to it. And that he would trust me enough to at least sent me text saying that he'll be back. Zachary told me that he is done hiding, then why did he decide to take it all on himself again. Alone. Without telling me.

You left me out again, Zachary.
