The sound of the gunshots was muffled by her muffs that she had put on her ears. A pair of earplugs to reduce the impact of it.

She had been in there for quite some time now. Though her hand was aching, she kept reloading the gun the moment she ran out of bullets. She was getting tired from standing up for too long.

Yet, another accurate shot was fired from her gun as Y/N stood rooted to the ground, not even flinching once while shooting.

Maybe having time to experience all this made it a routine for her so much so that the gunshots no longer affected her like they once used to.

The adrenaline pumping through her body declined after a long period of time. Exhaustion was beginning to dawn on her body as her joints felt the aches. She had started to think that she was aging and that maybe it was time for to go into hiding, perhaps into a bed with fluffy pillows forever.

She took off the ear muffs and took out the ear plugs from her ears. As she threw the ear plugs into the trash in her lane's room, she hung up the pair of ear muffs alongside the few others that were hung up on the hooks.

"That was a really impressive practice that you had there. You never missed a single shot. You trained as shooter in your former one?" A voice asked from behind her.

"Somewhat."

"Meaning?"

"I am what you would call an all-rounder, I guess, sort of." Y/N spoke, unsure what to call herself since there was not a particular field that she specialised in.

"So you trained in every aspect of this profession?"

"Yeah."

"We train all our members here too in each area too but, we allow them to choose to develop further on the one that they are stronger in."

"Oh, that's cool. I never had a choice in my former gang. They always said that I had to train for all or... You know..." She trailed off, not wanting to explain further. Mark had a feeling that what she was going to say was not going to be something that he heard often.

"Know what?"

"Punishments. I had to do punishments. I mean every gang has punishments if they don't follow their boss' instructions. Don't you guys have to go through punishments too?" She answered him, dumbfounded by his lack of knowledge on the way gangs worked.

Y/N spotted his eyes looking at softly. They seemed to have so many emotions held in them, swimming in his orbs. Was that Pity?

"Y/N, that's not what happens here. In this gang, we help each member improve to become better. You might make many mistakes along the way. However, mistakes are good for us. They teach us the importance of failure because we get to learn where we are wrong. We learn how to improve. Obviously, we do our best not to repeat the same mistake twice. On the rare occasion that such a scenario happens, we forgive and forget."

Mark placed emphasis on the last few words, like he was trying to convey a hidden message across to Y/N. You could say that maybe he was trying to change her perspective of gangs. You could see his clenched fists at the side of his boy. It was as if he was suppressing his anger, trying his best to not unleash it.

"Well, I guess maybe it just means I have been brought up another way." Y/N spoke.

"Well, that shouldn't have been the way you were brought up," Mark muttered under his breath. His voice was soft that Y/N could not even hear him. It was one that had pain evident in.

Mark realised that the atmosphere around them had become too quiet. You could feel the tension in the air after that conversation.

"Do you want to go to the lounge room? It's our weekly game sessions before lunch which is then followed by training."

"We never had one of those back at base. We were always told that work is more important."

Yet, another truth was untold making Mark question what exactly had Y/N's former gang been like.

The conversation took a turn there, ending abruptly as Y/N silently let Mark lead her to the lounge room.

~~~~~~~~~~
She saw almost all the members loitering here.
They were all over the room. Some of the older ones were playing pool while some of the younger ones could be seen playing at the arcade in the room. The others were watching a movie in the theatre room joined to it, through the connecting door.
"Doyoung is cooking for us in the kitchen. I am going to go play pool. Just look around and do what you want." Mark waved her goodbye before going to join the older ones who apparently seemed to be fighting on who should go next.
Y/N walked around the room, observing every detail that she could. She took in the diversity of bright colours on the walls. The contrasting colours giving her a happy atmosphere of the room. However, as she looked around, she found that she did not understand a single game in this room.
When she walked into the theatre room, everyone there seemed to be intently watching the movie. They beckoned her over to sit with them.  She hesitantly walked over before plopping onto one of the empty spots. She asked Lucas what movie they were watching.
"We're having a Harry Potter Marathon." He spoke a bit too loud for everyone's liking causing Haechan to shush him loudly and Ten to throw popcorn at him.
"Hyung, why would you waste food!" Chenle whisper-screeched at him causing Ten to smack him with a pillow.
"Yah! Give me some respect! I am your Hyung!"
"Mhmm, sure you are..." Chenle focused his attention at the screen.
Before another fight could happen, Renjun intervened, stopping a wild Ten from attacking a calm and composed Chenle.
Y/N gave up watching it after a few seconds when she realised that she understood nothing since it had been a long time since she had watched a movie or had time to read proper novels.
She quietly snuck out of the lounge room after making her way out of the theatre room.
She wandered around searching for the studio that she had seen a day ago.
"I have to get a proper tour of this place," She thought.
~~~~~~~~~~

When she finally found the room, she heard the faint sound of music coming from the room.

She approached the room and opened the door silently, peeking through the gap.

There she saw that familiar mop of blonde hair moving along to the beat of the song. His moves left her mesmerised. Each action that he did looking so flawless to her making it seem like a child's play.

He brought his arms up before swaying his hips to the side to match the slow tempo of the music. As the tempo gradually became faster, his moves became more vigorous but still seemed perfect and matched the beats on time. As he came to the end of the performance, she could not help but applaud for him, acknowledging his skills.

The sudden sound of claps resonating throughout the room made him aware of her presence. He stood there stunned, looking at her, mouth gaping, his brain trying to soak in the fact that she had just seen him dance.

"That was so beautiful." She gushed complimenting his techniques and effortless movements.

He was stunned. He had heard people call his dance "cool" or "amazing" but never beautiful. That was the first time an outsider said that to him. Hence, he said the first thing that his brain could come up with.

"You dance too?" He asked her, putting his dislike for her temporarily to the side, interested to talk to someone with similar interests.

"Nope. I have seen and been taught enough to know about the techniques."

"You sure you didn't pick up any form of dance?"

"Well, I do know ballroom dancing. I never went to those formal events for leisure but, I had to know how to dance that form well enough to convince my client that I was a sweet, innocent girl."

"That's the one form that I never learnt. Taeyong told me it was better to seem like a cute, innocent boy to get a girl's attention. Then, change my behaviour and kill her off. Though, I should be knowing every form of dance well enough."

"It's not important to know everything, Jisung." Y/N rolled her eyes.

"Listen-" Jisung's voice was cut off by the sound of a bell ringing throughout the room. The shrill ringing sound of the bell interrupted Jisung, preventing Y/N from hearing his thoughts.

"Let's go. That's Doyoung informing us that the food is ready. Don't want those greedy hyungs to finish everything up." Jisung grumbled. Y/N could not help but let an amused smile take over her face as she trailed behind, letting Jisung take the lead towards the eating room.

~~~~~~~~~~
The dining room was definitely big enough to hold more than a few gangs here.
Some of the walls were painted gold while the other walls were a dark blue.
Y/N sat on a chair on the further end of the left side of the table since most of the other members took up the right side, spilling towards the left too.
Her seat was next to Chenle, who was sitting opposite Jisung.
"We normally have fixed positions lile this. Taeil Hyung sits at the head of the table, followed by the rest of the members according to their age. Since you are the youngest now assuming that you have agreed to join the gang, your place will be next to me or Jisung. However, we do often change up our seating arrangement."
"Thanks for letting me know." She gave him a smile. Chenle nodded his head, letting her know that it was fine.
Y/N watched them take their prayers before they began eating.
"Don't you pray too Y/N?" Jaemin asked curiously.
"I do."
"Why didn't you pray then?"
"I normally pray after everyone has prayed."
Y/N closed her eyes, praying silently, occassionally murmuring a few words out loud.
When she opened them, everyone was looking at her.
"Wait, why didn't you guys start eating?"
"Well, since we are family, we wait for everyone to pray before we begin eating. Since you have agreed to join us, it would only be right of us to wait for one of our family members."
"Taeyong told us before you arrived with Jisung that you agreed to join us. We will go through the formalities tomorrow but, we want to start treating you as a part of us from today."
Y/N recalled her somewhat awkward conversation with Taeyong in the hallway earlier.
Flashback
Y/N saw Taeyong heading in her direction. She decided that it was now or never.
She mustered up all her courage and she decided to talk to him about her decision.
Although she had only been here for only one day, she had thought about it all night, which is why she ended up having very little sleep the previous night.
"Hey, can I talk to you?"
Taeyong simply tipped his head upwards indicating to her that he wanted her to continue what she was saying.
"I thought about your offer."
This caught Taeyong's attention as his eyes widened ever so slightly. He straightened his back standing up  straight.
"I thought about it long and hard. And, I really want to join your gang, if that's okay with your whole gang and you, of course." She added on as an afterthought.
"Well, I am more than willing to have you join us. I believe that most of us are willing to have you but, I shall discuss it once more with the members in case of any violent objections from the younger ones, especially since you will be in their team for sure."
Y/N thanked him before they walked in opposite directions.
~~~~~~~~~~

"It would be good to have a girl additon to the gang. It could be easier to get advice on certain assignments based on a girl's perspective." Taeil spoke up.

"So, since we have settled this, can we start eating because I am starving." Haechan grumbled causing members to roll their eyes at him before smiles broke out onto their faces.

As everyone began eating their food, Y/N could not help but feel the intensity of Jisung's glare on her.

What was his problem?

A/N

Hey guys!

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I hope it was not too rushed. I kind of wanted to make things move slightly faster because I have quite a lot of interesting things planned for this story. I think some of the chapters are going to make you bawl your eyes out because I feel sad for come of the incoming chapters.

Some questions to think about:

1) What do you think about Jisung and Y/N's relationship?

2) What do you think is Y/N's field of expertise?

Make sure to click that tiny star to leave a vote and feel free to leave any comments if you want to.
