Syretia entered her apartment, it looked the same as it had the night they had left. She had been paying rent over the past couple of months with her phone and managed to keep herself from getting evicted. The apartment was cold, the air nipped at her and chilled the tips of her fingers and nose.Β

She immediately went over to the thermostat and turned on the heat to warm it up. Vindicatio and Sebastian walked in shortly after, packing suitcases.Β

"Sebastian, the couch folds out into a bed, I hope you don't mind sleeping out here until we figure out different living arrangements," Syretia walked over and moved her coffee table to the side so that she could unfold the couch out into a bed.Β

"Dat's fine," Sebastian replied as he watched her in wonder. "I've never seen a couch like dat! Dat's so cool!" He ran over and jumped onto the pulled out mattress, getting comfortable.Β  Syretia was about to tell him she'd get him a pillow but he had already passed out.Β

"Man, he must've been really exhausted," she commented, grabbing the blanket draped over the top of the couch and laying it over him.Β

"Yeah, must've been," Vindicatio chuckled. He grabbed her hand and led her back to her bedroom, closing the door behind them.Β

"There's no lock on the door, he could come in at any moment," Syretia joked.Β

"As much as I'd like to do what could possibly scar him forever if he walked in and saw, we need to talk." Syretia felt her stomach drop as she looked around anxiously.

"What did you tell Ettore and not me," his eyes narrowed, she could see the hurt in them as though she had betrayed him.Β

Syretia sat on the edge of the bed, her eyes refused to meet his, she could already feel the tears threatening to spill over.

"Shit, Syretia, what's wrong?" Vindicatio's eyes softened as he made his way over to her, sitting down beside her. She turned and wrapped her arms around his torso and buried her face into his broad chest.Β

"I don't want to hurt you," she mumbled into his chest, he nudged her away gently. He held her face in his hand, his thumb rubbing against her cheek. She calmed down a little at the feeling of his touch.Β

"Evanora revealed to me that I had been a month along when I got infected with rabies."

"A month along?" His brows furrowed in confusion.Β

"Pregnant. I was pregnant," she sniffled. "I lost it after you bit me to get rid of the rabies."

"Syretia," she had never heard his voice sound so soft. "I-... I don't know how to say this without sounding terrible. It's the wolf in me. But, we can always try for another. I can't have another you, you're all I'll ever have. You mean everything to me, you're my existence. We've been through a lot together and this is barely the beginning of us. We have nothing but time. You were barely a month a long and even then --"

"I didn't know about it until after it was over, I know..." She wiped roughly at the tears collecting on her face. "I think it's just that I lost the opportunity to have a family with you."

"What do you mean you lost the opportunity to have a family with me? We have a family; you, Sebastian, and me. Even the old bat and that damn sly wolf, Darrin are family now." He paused for a moment as silence settled over them. "I'm really bad at dealing with emotions and stuff like this, Syretia and I'm sorry I'm not giving you the best."

"You're doing just fine," Syretia gave him a small smile.Β

"I know that our family with them isn't the same as to what you were referring to, but it's still more of a family than I've ever had and for that I am grateful. Whether you count it or not, you've still managed to give me a family to call my own, Syretia. And when the time comes and you want to try for a baby, I'm all for it. I want to have a long, fulfilling, and happy life with you, Anima mia."

"It's going to be a long life, huh?"

"With you, it'll be longest," Vindicatio smirked.

"Why's that?"

"You're really annoying sometimes," he joked, she scoffed and shuffled away from him.Β

"So are you, but I don't say anything about it," she muttered, her back facing him.

"You just did," he replied, leaning over to place a kiss on her shoulder.Β

"I can see past it though," she turned to face him. Her heart fluttering at the sight of his handsome face.

"So can I, it's just a mere oversight," he smiled as he leaned in to kiss her.Β

"I love you, Vindicatio."

"Ti amo, Syretia. Per sempre."
