Max's POV:

"I thought my family was perfect too. My dad died about six years ago. He died in a car accident by a drunk driver. After that, we were poor because m dad lost his business and my mom couldn't earn enough money for all of us. Alex's parents were kind enough to help us out. They let us stay with them for a while until my mom had a stable job and we had enough money to buy the house next to them. When I went to LA for college, I went on a scholarship and I worked hard to earn more money for my mom," I said, "I know what you are going through." I whispered that last part. Ace turned to me and smashed his lips against mine. I was surprised by what he did, but soon I wrapped my arms around his neck and he wrapped his arms around my waist. Saying that electricity exploded through our bodies wasn't good enough, fireworks were. I know that it's cheesy, but I felt it. The world stopped spinning and we were frozen in time. There was nothing in the world but us and I didn't want to change it. Ace pulled away and leaned his forehead against mine.

"I am sorry," he said pulling away from me and stood up, "I wasn't thinking."

"It's okay Ace," I whispered.

"I like you so much Max and I can't process how much I do. I have never felt this way and I am scared that I will mess things up between us," Ace rambled on and on. I stood up and kissed him again. He was stunned by what I did and I pulled away.

"I like you too Ace," I whispered only for him to hear. Joy overtook his solemn expression and he hugged me tightly.

"Will you be my girlfriend Max?" Ace asked with so much excitement and happiness in his eyes, "I know these circumstances aren't perfect, but what do you say?"

"I would love to," I beamed and he intertwined our fingers together and I sat down with my head against his shoulder. He had his arm around me and we just sat there staring off into the distance.

"How was your high school experience?" Ace asked out of the blue.

"Not so well," I said laughing, "How about you? Yours was probably better."

"Eh, don't know about that. I was considered the bad boy of the school. I could make anyone run with one glare, but I didn't really know why they were so afraid of me. Sure, I wore leather jackets and rode a motorcycle, but that was all," Ace said chuckling.

"I was the nerd of the school, more like the hoodie nerd," I said simply.

"Why hoodie nerd?" Ace asked smiling.

"Well I did wear hoodies everyday, a hoodie and jeans," I explained, "And I wore glasses and always had my hair up. Didn't I tell you already?" I took out my phone and opened a picture of me back when I was in high school. I showed it to Ace and his gaze softened.

"I don't know what you are talking about Max. You look exactly the same, it's just now you don't wear glasses," Ace said and I smiled and leaned into him.

"Yeah, I usually just need my glasses when I am doing homework, so I don't really need them anymore. But seriously, some people couldn't even recognize me," I chuckled.

"Well they were missing on a pretty awesome girl," Ace said and I blushed.

Soon my phone rang and I picked it up. Way to ruin a perfect moment.

"Hello?" I asked.

"M-max, you need to come h-home," Alex quavered.

"What's wrong?" I asked with a sudden fear in my voice and Ace suddenly was alerted.

"Macy was kidnapped and I think it was by the Viper Gang. Don't tell anyone about it. I told your mom that I took her out for ice cream. Hurry!" Alex babbled.

"Okay I will be there," I said quickly and hung up.

"What's wrong Max?" Ace asked with obvious worry etched on his face.

"Um, girl problems. Alex is having some problems with her boyfriend in LA and she needs me. Is it okay if I go?" I asked.

"Of course Max," Ace said, "But I promise you that I am taking you on a real date okay?"

"I won't stop you," I said and he took me to his house where I got my motorcycle and drove home. The Viper Gang messed with my family? Well, they just made the biggest mistake of their life. I got home and saw a teary Alex on the porch.

"Max I didn't know what happened. I came to the hospital because Wendy asked me to take her home and I didn't see her so I lied to you mom saying that I did have her. But instead I found this note on my window shield," Alex babbled and handed me a note.

Hello Alex,

I know that you are friends with Stone Fox. Don't you dare deny it. I have Macy with me at this address. You can come and get her, there is only one condition. Stone Fox must come along with you. I don't think that's such a problem because I know that Stone Fox is Macy's older sister. See you soon Alexandra.

The Viper Gang

"I can't believe that they have the freaking nerve to do that!" I shouted and Alex held my arm.

"Calm down Max. We will get her back," Alex said and I sighed.

"Well we need to suit up then," I said and walked inside my house and into my room. I opened my closet and opened a secret shelf. Inside were different guns and a couple throwing knives. I changed into my Stone Fox clothes and I gave Alex a pair of black leggings, combat boots, and a leather jacket. Then I gave her one of my guns and a throwing knife.

"Okay you good?" I asked.

"I don't know how to throw a knife Max," Alex said nervously.

"Don't worry, that's just for emergency if your gun runs out of bullets, but I reloaded it to the max for you," I assured her and Alex nodded, "It's alright. Just use it if you have to. Think of it as playing laser tag, paint balling, or playing video games with me."

"Okay, but this time if I get shot I am screwed," Alex said trying to lighten the conversation.

"Be positive Alex. I will storm the place, you just need to stay in the car and keep a lookout okay?" I asked.

"Okay," Alex said and we both jumped into Tom's car. On the way to my house, I asked Tom if I could borrow his black car---black blends in better than white---and told him that I needed it for transferring things. Honestly, I didn't want to worry him about this whole situation. My backup plan was to contact Tom if necessary, but right now, I think I can handle it. The drive to the address was silent, but full of fear. Alex was shaking and staring out of the window the whole time, while I was chewing on my bottom lip. The fear and anxiousness in the air was unbearable and I almost cracked. I parked in the distance and Alex moved to the driver's seat.

"Be careful Max," Alex said.

"You too, Alex," I said, "When we get out of here. I have some great news to tell you."

"Can't wait," Alex said with a weak smile and I walked with my gun in my pants and my knife in my boot. I walked into the warehouse and saw two guys.

"Who goes there?" the man asked.

"I am the boss' new recruit," I said.

"I don't believe you," the man said.

"Do you want to anger him?" I asked with the most vicious voice I could muster.

"No," the man said.

"Alright, then let me in," I demanded and the man nodded and opened the door. I walked with confidence and stepped inside the warehouse. Many people were training and some were standing guard. I slipped past some people and walked down a dark and mysterious hallway. As I passed by empty cells, I knew that this was where they kept their captives. I saw a guard standing by a cell and saw Macy crying. She saw me and I quickly put my finger to my mouth. I knew she was smart enough to not show any emotion. I knocked him out using his pressure point. Quickly, I went over to the lock, picked it, and got Macy out.

"Who are you?" Macy whispered with a mixture of fear and confusion.

"It's me Max," I said taking my mask off.

"Max," she breathed looking relieved and hugged me.

"Let's go sweetie," I said and grabbed her hand, "No matter, stay with me and listen to me okay?"

"Okay," Macy obeyed. I walked past quietly and went out the door and saw more guards. I groaned in frustration.

"What are you doing?" the guard asked with his gun pointed at me.

"The boss commanded me to transfer this girl to a more secure location," I said sternly, "Now move, you don't want to anger the boss."

"I should go ask the boss," the guard said.

"Do you seriously want to question me? I could get you killed like that. I have a much higher position than you lowlifes," I said my voice dripping with venom.

"Yes sir," the man said reluctantly and I guided Macy out the warehouse. I took off my hood and my mask.

"It's okay Macy. You are safe now," I said and she nodded. I saw her tearstained cheeks and I felt so mad at myself for putting her into trouble.

"Oh thank god!" Alex exclaimed when she saw us.

"Hurry Macy. Go on in," I said and Macy climbed in. I climbed into the driver's seat and drove off as fast as I could.

"Max, the man gave me this letter," Macy said holding out an envelope. I mentally cursed to myself.

"Macy, sweetie, can you give that to Alex?" I asked and Alex got the letter and opened it. She showed it to me at a red light.

Dear Maxine and Alexandra,

I know that you are smart enough to get Macy out without alerting anyone. I know you. Consider this as a warning. I know that we have been warning you for a long time now, but this is just the start of the warnings. It will get worse than this so I suggest you cooperate with us soon.

The Viper Gang

"What is happening Max?" Macy asked nervously, "I am smart enough to know that something is wrong."

"If I tell you, you have to promise not to tell anyone. Even Mom," I said.

"I promise Max," Macy said. I looked over to Alex and she gave me a 'Just do it' look.

"Okay, I am a street fighter and racer. I fight and race under a disguise named Stone Fox. For a while, the Viper Gang has been trying to get me to join their gang, but I rejected them because I don't want to be involved in gang activity," I said sighing. I took Macy home and told Mom that we went to a park to hang out. This was getting serious and out of hand. I knew that I had to do something before something worst happens.

"Max?" Macy called out and I went into her room and sat down.

"What's wrong sweetie?" I asked her.

"I am scared," she said and I felt a stab of guilt.

"I am so sorry sweetie. I promise you that I will stop them from hurting you or anyone else okay?" I said reassuringly.

"But I am scared that you will get hurt then Max," Macy added.

"You are not mad at me?" I asked her and she shook her head.

"How could I be mad at you Max? You saved me and this isn't your fault. It's just those people chose to do bad things," Macy said with her arms crossed and I smiled at her.

"Thank you Macy, I still want you to be happy to have me as your older sister," I whispered, "Sometimes I feel that you are much closer to Alex."

"Never! I am happy to have you as my older sister. You sing to me and you always take care of me. I remember when there was that big storm when I was a baby and I was scared. I remember running into your room and you let me sleep with you. You sang a lullaby to me and then I wasn't scared any more," Macy said and I grinned at the memory.

"So do you want me to sing you a lullaby?" I asked and Macy nodded excitedly.
