Eros' POV (surprise !! ) :

" Red alert ! Border breached !", the siren wailed loudly. I was in my office, looking over the treaties submitted by the neighboring alphas, when I heard the sudden blare of the emergency alarm. The door opened and Ryan walked in, breathing heavily.

"Alpha, rogues have passed the Northern border", my delta informed me. This shit is getting out of hand now. I need to find out if someone is tipping off these guys, because I'm damn sure its not the problem of patrol wolves.

" Gather the warrior wolves. I want Formation 3 to be enforced ", I ordered getting up from my chair, and grabbed my jacket.

"Right away, alpha".

Ryan left, leaving me with my thoughts.

Those damn bastards. How did they even crossed the border. I swear if there was a mole in my territory, he would regret the day he was born.

I saw Flynn waiting for me outside the office door.

"Alpha, you need not come. I'll handle it."

"Damn right you will. I want to know who was behind this cowardly attack".

"Certainly."

After giving some more instructions to Flynn on the plan of attack, he left with the warrior wolves while I went back to my office to continue with my work. There was already the council biting my head off, the company has to make new contracts regarding the deals signed, there was also the checking of the treaties, and now, these shitty rogues.

It seems I just can't get a break.

"You can't get out of this, so better get to work", Erasmos mused.

With a sigh, I got to work. I got regular updates from Flynn about the attack. It looked like they were handling it pretty well. After all, they were stupid enough to dare enter my territory. I was so caught up in my work that I didn't notice the time.

"Yo, Alpha."

The voice of Flynn brought me out of my work.

"You done ?"

"Yup. Got a few guys for you too", Flynn said, " They're in the dungeons."

"Good. Starve them for a week, see if you get anything", my expression hardened.

"Will do."

" Good work today, Flynn. Take some rest, you are off duty for tomorrow."

"Yes, Alpha."

Flynn left, closing the door. After another hour, I was finally ready to drop dead. I wrapped everything, before locking my office and going to my bed. It was finally 2 am when I checked my phone for messages. A smile came on my face when I saw a notification, indicating a message from Mi Amour. "Nice name you got there", Erasmos snorted. I ignored him, the thoughts of today's events crossed my mind, causing me to grin. She was a fiery one, my mate. With a smile still etched on my face, I opened her message only to feel all the blood drain from my face.

Hey, Belle here. I just wanted to ask you, there are no wolves in this area right ?

Wolves ? Why would she ask this ?

That is, unless....unless she saw one !!! Flynn said they attacked the Northern border, and the woods from the border stretch till her apartment's backyard. Did she see a rogue wolf ? Feeling frantic, I texted her back, not caring about the time.

Why do you ask ? Are you alright ?

I can't exactly ask her about sighting a rogue, so this was the closest option I had. I waited for a few minutes, but she didn't reply. She must be sleeping. Not wasting another moment, I called Flynn. He picked up after a few rings.

"Eros, do you even know what tim -", he asked sleepily.

"Flynn, did the rogues go towards the direction of Belle's apartment ?", I cut him off.

Sensing the urgency in my voice, he cleared his throat before replying, "No Alpha, not that I think of. Her apartment comes at a slightly eastern direction."

"But is it possible for any rogue to venture there?"

He took a moment to answer, confirming my fears.

"Y-Yes, I guess."

"I don't need guesses, Flynn !", I replied, anger evident in my voice.

"Alpha, may I ask what happened?", Flynn was careful of framing his question, knowing I was close to shifting in my wolf.

" Belle texted me asking if there were wolves in this area."

"Well, Alpha, can you tell me the time that she texted ? Was it before or after the rogue attack?"

His question made me pause. Now that I think of it, her message was early, earlier than the news of the attack.

When I didn't reply for a moment, Flynn said , "See, its nothing. Maybe she was just curious."

Flynn got to me. She must be curious. After all, she has an inquisitive personality.

" Yeah, maybe it was nothing", I replied, still a bit apprehensive.

"I'm always right. Now, let me sleep Eros. You will get to see her tomorrow anyways."

"Yeah", I cut the call, not feeling calmed in any sense. I laid awake the whole night, thinking about her, worrying about her. She was all I could think of nowadays. I often get caught up in her thoughts, never noticing where I was or what I was doing. She had me wrapped around her fingers without even trying. Her smile was the only thing that got me through the night. Before I even knew, it was sunrise. My alarm rang, snapping me out of my thoughts. I got ready quickly, eager to meet my mate. I checked my mobile to see if Belle had messaged, but there was nothing, adding more to my worry.

Rushing towards the office, I banged open the door. Seeing her standing there, a cup of coffee in her hand, without having a single knowledge of the worry I felt, oblivious to her surroundings made me sigh in relief. I breathed my first carefree breath since yesterday.

She's okay. She's okay. I calmed my heart. Still wanting to be sure, I asked,

"Belle ! Are you alright ?" She was surprised when she saw me, looking like a deer caught in headlights.

"Yes, of course, sir", she replied, a bit confused.

Feeling strong emotions running through me, I did the only thing I wanted to do since the first moment I saw her, on that rainy day. I walked towards her and pulled her in a big hug.

Ah, I'm alright now.

She fitted perfectly against me, her curves moulding into me. She was squirming against me, embarrassed, but I only pulled her more closely, satisfying my deepest desires to hold her close. Feeling her heart beat safely against my chest, I was able to relax a bit. After a moment, she stopped moving, engaged in her own thoughts.

"Belle", I called to grab her attention. She brought up her beautiful gray eyes up at me, drawing me in.

" You ARE alright, aren't you ?", I couldn't hide the worry in my voice, the fear I had for her, in my eyes.

Her eyes turned soft, softer than they were, calming me.

" I'm perfectly fine , Eros. I swear", she reassured me, her soft voice doing wonders to my racing heart. Her smile was my undoing. My arms tightened around her waist, grabbing her attention towards them. Just realizing that we were practically hugging while having a conversation, she started squirming again.

"Uh, sir. You should let me go now", she stuttered and going back to calling me sir.

My arms loosened a bit, before I wrapped them more tightly than before, hearing a gasp come from her mouth. Not worried anymore, I was back to my normal self, already planning about my next move to gain my mate's heart. She suddenly smiled, confusing me. Why was she smiling?

"Why are you smiling?", I voiced my thoughts.

"Because you are not scared anymore. You're back to your confident self", she replied happily. Those words surprised me because I've always been good at hiding my emotions. How did she know ?

"How did you know I was scared?"

My confusion was increasing by the moment, although I had a rough idea about what she would say.

" I just saw your eyes", she replied casually.

My eyes? She saw my emotions like it was nothing, calming me, never realizing her strength.

She amazed me. This woman in front of me was amazing, reading me like it was nothing, comforting me like it was nothing. Smiling up at me happily, I felt affection for this wonderful woman deep from my heart, who I was proud to call my mate.

The moment of shock caused my arms to loosen, and she took that exact chance to jump out of my hold.

I got a bit sad, that she was away from me, but tried not to delve on it.

"Why were you so worried?", Belle questioned suddenly.

Uh, how was I supposed to reply to this ?

Yeah, actually there was a rogue attack yesterday and I thought you must've seen one. Yup right, that wouldn't go so well.

"Uh... I saw your message yesterday and thought something happened to you and you didn't reply so I assumed something was wrong."

That was a perfect cover-up, I nodded to myself.

Not satisfied with my answer, "You're lying" , she stated.

I was pleasantly surprised with her sudden confidence. She caught my bluff ? I was pretty good at lying and convincing people, but she didn't believe me, even for a second.

"No. I'm not", I tried to protect my image.

"Sure, sure, whatever sails your boat", she laughed, happiness exuding from her. She walked towards her desk, ready to sit.

"I am not lying", I trailed behind her, glad to see her amused.

She continued laughing, our bickering a source of entertainment for her, therapy for me. And just like that,

I was enchanted.
