Saavi

******

I looked over to my right where a peaceful husband of mine was sleeping.

It was arduous for me to console my Dhruv. He was inconsolable but I stayed with him all the time. I cooked to lift his mood but the efforts were not that fruitful. We were about to go to Xavier's but couldn't so I called him to our place. Both of us tried to cheer up Dhruv but I did understand what he was going through. Even when I was in agony I didn't show him.

Xavier and Dhruv were about to discuss something important as I was informed by Xavier but I made him postpone it as anything could wait till my Dhruv gets better. When Xavier left after dinner I took Dhruv to our bedroom and made him lie his head on my lap like before and recited some made-up stories with a happy ending and also sang for him. I felt something else was bothering him, it felt that he wanted to say something to me but was going through an inner turmoil. When I decided to ask him, finally, I found him sleeping soundly so thought to ask the next day.

******

I woke up early than Dhruv because of the ringtone of his phone. I quickly picked it up when saw Xavier's name on the caller id. What Xavier told me made me surprised. He informed me we were about to leave Zurich that day. He wanted to confirm whether the plan of Dhruv would remain intact or there was any change. Knowing Dhruv well that he doesn't do anything without thinking properly I told him to proceed with the plan and packed our luggage. When I went back to bed to sleep more, my sleep had vanished and I didn't have the heart to wake up Dhruv so I started caressing his cheeks lovingly but when kissed his forehead his eyes opened.

"Good Morning, hubby," I replied grinning half lying on his chest.

"Morning," Dhruv replied meekly, put me on the bed, and dipped his head in the crook of my neck.

"What happened?" I asked stroking his hair.

"I want to sleep more," he mumbled over my neck placing soft and tickling kisses.

"Dhruv, it's late."

"I know."

"Then get up."

"I don't want to." I tried pushing him away but couldn't make my hulk husband move even a bit.

"Xavier wanted to discuss something with you," I said making him raise his head.

"What did he say?"

"He said we are going to Zurich today."

"Packing and all is left. Let's postpone it." Dhruv put his head on my chest and put my hand in his hair asking me to caress them.

"No, I have done the packing already."

"When?"

"An hour ago, when Xav called."

"All-rounder wife." The smile on Dhruv's face made me feel contented. Palming his cheeks I asked, "How are you feeling?"

"I am good as long as you are," he replied kissing both of my palms.

"I am fine with you always." Dhruv kissed me for brief and then got out of bed. Dhruv got ready first and I had to go next. When I came out after having a refreshing shower my eyes fell on my husband who was sitting on the bed flipping his phone using his thumb and the index finger.

I put the towel aside and sat beside Dhruv. I found guilt in his eyes when Dhruv when looked at me.

"Muffin, I committed a mistake."

"What mistake?" I didn't understand what mistake Dhruv was talking about until I heard his response, "The last time we made love, I forgot to use protection."

"So?"

"What if you...." Dhruv when paused I completed his sentence by saying, "Get pregnant?" Dhruv nodded to which I replied, "Hmmm. So you are worried that your muffin will get stressed and will hate you for doing this to her because as far as I know my Dhruv he won't have any problem with me having a child."

Dhruv was stunned hearing me as I was certain he might have expected a different reaction from me. To ease him I continued further, "Don't worry husband, even if something like that happens we will manage. I have full faith in us and our relationship."

"You are the best," Dhruv replied before pulling me for a kiss.

******

As soon as I got ready Dhruv and I went down where Martha had prepared breakfast. Since we were leaving early Dhruv called Martha so that I could meet her before going back.

After having our meal I gave the gift to Martha which I had bought for her and bid her goodbye. I took one last glance at the house before saying, "I will miss this place."

"We will come again," Dhruv said before holding my hand.

My eyes glittered hearing his reply so to confirm I asked."Really?"

"Yes."

"With family, right?" I asked being hopeful of the answer to be affirmative.

"Sure, we will have a family vacation." My happiness knew no bounds when he promised me that we would come back again and that too for a family vacation. My mind started working on making plans on how Dhriti and I will enjoy and have endless talks and click a lot of pictures and will trouble the men.

Both of us settled inside the car on the backseat while Xavier and Andrew were on the front on the passenger and driving seats respectively. I waved at Martha who stood at the entrance to wish us a safe journey.

"Dhruv, are we proceeding with the same plan," Xavier asked Dhruv.

"yes."

"Did you tell Saavi?"

"Not yet."

"What didn't you tell me?" I asked Dhruv.

"The plan love."

"Oh. What is it?"

"Nothing all you have to do is hold tight." Only if I knew what he meant by the same.

******

"You said all I have to do is hold tight," I yelled at my husband who was driving recklessly as if he owned the road.

"And that's what you are doing sweetheart."

"Yes, and you are sending me on the verge of heart attacks every minute."

"Sorry love, just a few more minutes."

"Damn it! Dhruv I have been hearing it for the last forty-five minutes. Dhruv Kapoor let this all gets finished, I swear I am gonna punish you."

"I will always be ready for it," he replied winking at me. The nerve of that guy was that even after troubling me he was fine.

"Jerk," I muttered.

"Muffin, close your eyes." He said looking in the front. When my gaze fell on the car coming in our direction with a full-speed I was scared a thousand times and the rate of fear started increasing with each passing second.

"Shit! You are not doing it." I said praying for Dhruv to not commit any mistake as that was the car of one of David's men.

"Muffin, please close your eyes." Praying I did what he asked me to. To my satisfaction, luck was on our side and we were able to cross the path but not before Dhruv hit that car with ours.

On our way to Zurich, I was told we would soon be followed by David and his men as Dhruv had passed the information of our location to him by someone. This was all part of Dhruv's plan to trap the devil. Even when I was frightened I agreed because I had full faith in my husband.

"Sweetheart, you ok?" Dhruv asked feeling guilty.

"As if you don't know. How could you enjoy this?" I asked in disbelief.

"I am enjoying it because our enemies are in big trouble," Dhruv had the widest smile on his face.

"How?"

"Look outside." I did and found eight cars behind us making a huge distance between our car and David's.

"Who are they? Your team?"

"No, someone else."

"Now what Dhruv?" I was irritated when I realized I was still unknown to half of the plan.

"We have to watch a show, love." Dhruv seemed excited like a kid. I was unmindful about the idea he was talking about.

"A show?"I was perplexed and wanted to know what he meant.

"Yes," Dhruv replied before applying the brakes.

"Let's go." He unbuckled our seat belts and both of us made our way to a tunnel on the way which was barricaded.

"Why are we going towards the blocked path?"

"To watch the show." I was moving forward holding Dhruv's hand. In mid, I turned around and found the cars of those who had come to save us were gone.

I panicked and informed Dhruv about the same by informing, "Dhruv, they left us."

"They will come but before that David will." There was a narrow passage on the right side of the tunnel which had a door as well. Dhruv opened the door and hid us both in the compacted, dark area. We both were waiting for the devil and for someone else as well as told by Dhruv.

After a few minutes footsteps were audible to us and also I could hear the gut-wrenching voice of the person I hated to the core.

"Little Bird, there is no point in hiding now." I fisted Dhruv's shirt hugging him from behind.

"He will not come to us. Don't worry." Dhruv whispered holding my hands that were on his abdomen and I nodded on his back.

"Little bird, come out before I start killing your family one by one. Dhruv's little one is in danger, come out now both of you if you don't want me to harm her." I stiffened when I heard Dhriti was in danger. I didn't want anyone close to me to get hurt.

"He is only playing us. Little One is safe."Dhruv turned towards me after removing my hands from him and assured me that Dhriti was fine. David's voice was deadly like a monster and to divert my attention from him Dhruv captured my lips. He made me forget the horrible scenario and kept kissing me until we heard another voice.

"How are you David or should I say Pankaj?" Dhruv stopped kissing me hearing the unfamiliar sound. After pulling back Dhruv said, "He is here." And that's how I came to know that whoever the owner of that voice was, he was the one Dhruv was waiting for.

"You are alive?" It seemed as if David was stunned to see the person. Curiosity started to build up in me to know who had come to save us and was known to both Dhruv and David.

"Of course, I am. You really thought that your stupid plan could kill me."

"That's not possible. I made sure you can't escape."

"You should have thought before making a plan. Did you forget I wasn't an ordinary person, you can't just make an idiotic plan to kill an officer."

After listening to half of the conversation I concluded whoever the person was, he was a victim of David's brutality as well. His every word spoken to David was laced with hatred and anger.

"Nevermind, I can kill you now again, right here and this time in front of your daughter. Ah! It will be so much fun." I heard David. What did he mean by daughter I thought? I presumed the person to be the father of one of David's prisoners.

"You are living in your delusional world aren't you?"

When I couldn't understand the conversation going on much I asked Dhruv, "Dhruv, what's going on?"

"Ssshhh.I will tell you everything, right now, keep quiet." I had to shut my mouth because of Dhruv but kept my ears open to listen to the conversation going on.

"Little Bird, where are you? Your beloved father is here. Won't you want to meet him? Come out of hiding so that I can kill him in front of you." David yelled on top of his lungs.

Father? I was in dilemma why would David bring my father in all that but I realized soon, he was a devil and loved to play with everyone's emotions. I understood he used the term father to make me feel vulnerable again so that his work got easy but I decided otherwise and chose to stay there with Dhruv instead of acting stupid and falling into David's trap again.

"Kill me? Yeah, you couldn't do it years ago and yet you are confident of yourself."

"I was nothing years ago, mistakes were bound to happen, but now, I am fucking mafia. I run the dark world and no power in the world can outsmart me."

"You need to come out of your shell."

"You need to come out of your shell."Dhruv when heard the code word shell got alarmed and without wasting a minute sent a text to his friends, "Now."

"Muffin, we need to go out now. Don't be scared or get panic, okay, and be with me." Saavi nodded at her husband even when her heart was pounding wildly in her chest.

"Nothing will happen to us. Our team is here." Assuring his wife Dhruv held her hand before taking her out with him and gaining the devil's attention. Saavi's eyes widened when she saw David pointing a gun at a man whose only back was visible to her.

"Oh, look. Here they are. My lovely little bird."

"Dare you to talk about her one more time, I will not think twice before emptying all the bullets in your head," Shrikant said to David who only laughed maniacally at that moment.

When David tried to walk towards Dhruv and Saavi, Dhruv put his wife behind him before pointing the gun at David.

"Don't try to move. Stay away from her."

"Little Bird, do I scare you that much that now you are hiding behind a scumbag? Did you forget our beautiful nights when you heard those beautiful screams of those girls with whom I made love?"

David tried to make her feel vulnerable once again. Saavi indeed was hiding behind her husband but after listening to him she stood beside Dhruv and stared at David. She realized the person standing in front of her was not a human, he didn't even have an ounce of humanity in him. He was talking about lovemaking when he was aware that forcing himself on someone can never be termed as the same.

"You are a beast, in the facade of a human being. You don't deserve to live." Saavi screamed at the top of her lungs. David for a moment was stunned to see the brave girl whom he considered as a little bird. He then got out of the trance smirked at her and said, "It will be so much fun to break you again."

"Not even in your dreams," Dhruv yelled before shooting at David's leg. David was strong as one bullet couldn't do much harm. Dhruv left Saavi after pushing her aside for her safety and moved towards David who had his gun aimed at Dhruv but to his disappointment, there were no bullets in the pistol he had.

"Dhruv." yelled Saavi fearing the consequences. In no time all of them were surrounded by fifty men loaded with ammunition. Shrikant came near his daughter who had fallen as Dhruv had pushed aside her to keep her safe.

"Are you fine?" Saavi looked up hearing the familiar voice of Andrew. She not only found Andrew but also the owner of a pair of black eyes just like her. It was Shrikant whose face looked familiar to her and she gaped when she realized where had she seen him. She couldn't believe the man in the picture her mother had shown her was standing alive right in front of her eyes. Now it was clear to her what David meant by father and who was the daughter he was talking about.

She was puzzled thinking about how it could be possible. She had searched on the internet about his father and the only data she received was he died for the country. She was for a moment in a state of shock.

"Are you okay, Ma'am? Are you hurt somewhere?" Andrew asked and she couldn't answer him as all she was doing was observing the face of the middle-aged man standing beside Andrew keenly.

Saavi came out of shock when she heard the sound of another bullet firing. Both she and Shrikant looked at Dhruv's side where he and David were indulged in a fight. All the men present there was pointing gun at David and three familiar faces came into their view, Arjun, Kiaan, and Xavier.

"We need to leave, Dhruv," Xavier said.

"We will take care of this shit." Kiaan angrily pulled David holding his collar.

"Dhruv," Arjun called him after placing his hand on Dhruv's shoulder and gesturing towards Saavi for whom the whole scenario was filled with confusion as she couldn't grasp what was happening.

Dhruv after nodding stepped back and picked up his wife in his arms before going back towards the car. Xavier settled himself on the driving seat, while Shrikant took the passenger seat. Dhruv and Saavi settled themselves on the back. Arjun and Kiaan had captured the devil and took him with them in their car. Dhruv was aware that his wife would be having a lot of questions and when he looked at her, her eyes were only on him. She looked in dire need of answers but that wasn't the time so Dhruv cupped her cheeks before saying," I will tell you everything after we reach our destination."

Saavi kept her head on his husband's chest holding him trying to calm herself in the process to erase the scene she witnessed a few minutes ago and slept.

******

Feeling cold Saavi scooted to the right side of the bed but the warmth she was seeking was not there. She opened her eyes reluctantly only to find the other side of the bed empty. She sat back on the bed and registered her environment, only to be left astounded. She was back again in Zermatt.

'What am I doing here?' she mumbled to herself

"Dhruv," she called roaming her eyes in the room.

"Dhruv, where are you?" Neither she received a reply nor was there any trace of him. She would have panicked but fortunately found a note on the table kept beside her bed that stated,

"Muffin, I am at Xav's. You must be hungry so, I have asked Martha to prepare lunch for you.

See you in a bit,

Love you,

Yours, Dhruv."

'He knows I don't eat without him yet he wants me to. Idiot!' Saavi muttered before getting out of bed.

She called Martha when descended the stairs but there was no trace of her as well.

"Martha, where are you?" Saavi called when went inside the kitchen where she found a note on the fridge,

"I am outside to buy groceries. Lunch is placed on the dining table"

'Everyone left a note behind,' Saavi mumbled pouting. She hadn't forgotten the incident of a few hours back but was relieved as the note didn't let her freak out.

Deciding to check up on her husband she stepped out of the house and when went to Xavier's house, to her relief the door was opened. Saavi went inside and roamed her eyes in the house but not even a single living being came into her view.

She called on Dhruv's number and could hear the ring coming from somewhere inside the house. She was stunned when Dhruv cut her phone. She called him again but the phone was switched off. Saavi tried to call Xavier who did the same as Dhruv. When she was about to dial Arjun's number she heard footsteps approaching her. She waited for the person and when she saw Martha clad in a black outfit holding a gun she couldn't believe her eyes.

"Martha."

"Uh.....Hi Ma'am." Martha felt awkward as she was aware that Saavi didn't know she works for Mr. Oleg Kozlov.

"What are you doing here? And that too in this getup?" Before Martha could answer Saavi heard her husband's voice.

"Stop talking shit." Saavi flinched a bit hearing him. After her husband, another familiar voice of her friend, Arjun reached her ears, "Dhruv, you need to calm down."

"It's Dhruv's voice, coming from that way," Saavi said pointing towards the area beside the kitchen.

"Ma'am let's go back," Martha said but Saavi started following Dhruv's voice.

"Ma'am please wait!"

Saavi without paying heed to what Martha was saying made her way to the basement she had never been to. There was only one room and the voice kept getting clear with the steps she was taking.

"I wonder what my little bird will think of you when she will see you in this form."

"She is not your little bird, you get that," Dhruv yelled.

Saavi gulped
