Saavi

I couldn't believe what just happened, even Riddhi and Adya were shocked. The elderly lady who had insulted me yesterday had come to my room to apologize. I felt bad for her, I knew her views would be different because she had lived all her life seeing such stuff so her opinions were based on her experience. To be honest, I didn't feel much worse when she had insulted me, instead, I didn't like it when she had to apologize.

"Dhruv is crazy," commented Adya feeling proud of his friend.

"He did right," said Riddhi.

I didn't say anything. Fortunately, Dhriti was not there when all that happened otherwise she would have got to know about it and I didn't want anyone to be sad.

"Here, have this you both." Simran came with two glasses of juice for me and Adya. We made faces but there was no way out so we had to drink it.

"Now I know your dislike towards this," I said to Adya pointing towards the glass of juice.

"Finally, I got someone to share my pain with," she replied making both of us laugh at her comment.

Soon I was left alone with Adya. We both were chatting but my eyes were stuck on the clock. With every passing moment, I was feeling nervous, anxious and something was happening inside my abdomen.

"Calm down, you are going to be fine. Besides, it's your Dhruv you are marrying." Adya had sensed my nervousness but calming myself was not that easy when only one person has the power to pacify me.

"I know, but I can't stop this feeling."

"It happens."

"Happened with you as well?"

"Yes, it happened with me too. It's normal. Just take deep breathes and try to think about your soon-to-be husband." She winked making me blush. I did what she asked and thinking about Dhruv helped me a bit.

After a few minutes Riddhi, Dhriti, and Aditi came inside the room.

"Just half an hour sister-in-law after then you will be with your Dhruv," Dhriti told me taking a seat on the bed.

"By the way are you ready?" I couldn't understand her question. I mean she could see I was ready but nonetheless I replied, "Yes."

"For your first night as well?" That's when I understood what exactly she meant by her previous question.

"What do you mean?"

"You are getting married and then it will be your first night with your husband, so you are all ready, right?" Dhriti elaborated her question making it easy for me to get her point.

"Even if you are not, brace yourself, and don't be scared, my brother will not hurt you." It was difficult to perceive whether she was trying to help me or trying to scare me. I hadn't even give it a thought. How could I be such a fool? If that time the scale of my nervousness lied on 6 out of 10 then it had increased to 10 after hearing her.

"Can't say anything, all men are the same. You know what I mean right." Adya placed a hand on my shoulder trying to make me understand something.

"I guess you are right. Do you have protection?" Aditi asked me making my eyes widened. I was already on the verge to faint.

"Why will she have that? Dhruv should have it," replied Riddhi casually.

"Oh yeah, I will ask him, if not I will tell him to take it from Rohit. He always carries a lot." Riddhi's answer made my jaws touched the ground.

"I have one in my bag. Should I give it to you, so that you can give it to Dhruv?" Adya was looking serious and was waiting for an answer.

"Wha...what? Me...what are you guys talking about?" Listening to my scared voice all four of them started laughing making me more anxious.

"Oh God, we almost got you. Don't worry, we were just trying to scare you," said Dhriti between her laughs but in that process they made me face me the fact of the first night.

When the clock struck seven it was time for me to go down. I was about to get married. A few months back all I wanted was to die but now I want to live, with my Dhruv, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. Even if death comes to take me I would be happy to take my last breath in his arms.

I was in my thoughts and didn't realize that we had reached until, I heard the loud sound coming through the speakers. My eyes fell on the one person who was standing at a distance of four feet but I could clearly see his charming face. His smile was so contagious that could can make anyone smile. My breath was hitched just at the sight of him and I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. I lowered my eyes feeling shy and the girls took me to the stage.

With every step, my nervousness kept on increasing. "Calm down," Dhriti whispered to me while I nodded in response.

As soon as we reached the stage my path was blocked by someone. I looked up to find Namit, Hredhaan, Arjun, and Kiaan.

"Move." Dhriti said but Namit placed his hand over his heart and said dramatically, "You will kill me with your attitude."

"Move aside guys," said Aditi.

"No," Kiaan replied making her frown.

"But why?" Dhriti asked.

"Because we need something from Chubby Cheeks," Namit replied looking at me.

"What do you want from her?" Riddhi asked being perplexed and so was I.

"A promise," he replied smiling at me.

I couldn't hold myself and asked, "Promise?"

"A promise that you will take care of our brother," Hredhaan said.

"That you will love him to the core." Arjun was the next to speak.

"That you will keep him happy always," Kiaan said.

"And if he tries to hurt you or something, trust me we will be the first to punch him on his face," Namit said in the end.

I was stunned but at that very moment felt very much blessed to have them in my life.

"We promise that we will always take care of you like our little sister but do you promise to take care of our brother?" They asked in unison.

Nodding I replied, "I promise."

All four of them enveloped me into a hug and led me upstairs where my prince charming was waiting for me. Who says fairy tales don't exist? They do. My prince was standing right in front of me.

He took my hand in his and pulled me closer. Slowly I looked up at his face only to feel shy again.

"You look breathtaking," he whispered in my ears.

"Guys, leave some romance for after marriage otherwise the elders will kill you both," Dhriti said making us pull back. We both were made to make each other wear the flower garland and then the tiring photo session started. It was not tiring for me but Dhruv as well, but we had to do it for grandpa's happiness.

"Dhri, is grandpa gone crazy? What will he do with this amount of pictures?" Dhruv asked Dhriti, being irritated with the amount of effort we all had to put for the pictures.

"I don't know, but why am I made to make poses with Namit?" Dhriti was asked to click a lot of pictures with Namit. While Dhriti was tired, Namit seemed to enjoy it a lot.

"It's fun sweetheart," Namit said posing for the next picture.

"I am tired."

"Don't worry, I will do all your work for a month."

Shaking his head Hredhaan said, "He has become so cheesy." While the other three laughed.

"Shut Up! Idiots." Namit glared at them but Dhriti kissed him on his cheeks making him smile.

After the photography session, the time for the pheras[rounds of the sacred fire] had come. Dhruv went there early and I had to wait for a while. After around twenty minutes I was called by the priest. Dhruv and I followed all the rituals. All my tiredness had vanished and I was overwhelmed with the feeling that I was about to become my Dhruv's wife.

We took seven rounds of the holy fire and during that Dhruv had held my hand in his, firmly, as if he was making a promise that he would never let me go.

He took the nuptial thread in hand and looked at me asking for my permission. I nodded making him grin while he tied it around my neck. My hair partition was filled with red vermilion and at that moment I felt contended. I never wanted anything else except being by Dhruv's side.

Happy tears had made it's way out of my eyes but Dhruv wiped it and cupping my cheeks he said, "Congratulations on our wedding, Mrs. Saavi Dhruv Kapoor." It felt blissful, hearing it.

He kissed my forehead making everyone clap and cheer. All the rituals were done and we took the blessings of the elders. Soon people started to leave. Maasi asked Dhriti to take me with her but I was stopped as the girls started demanding money from Dhruv for the shoes.

"You guys do know right that losing a pair of shoes won't hurt me much," Dhruv stated the undeniable fact.

"Yeah, but it's a ritual and you have to empty your pockets, otherwise we won't let you go." said an overly enthusiastic Simran.

"That's it? How much money you want?"

"One Crore," Sonia replied making everyone shocked.

"What?" Dhruv asked.

"Of course, what did you think we will demand two thousand from a businessman like you," Nitya replied.

"Ok, here." Dhruv handed her the check book making her jaws dropped to the ground. I was more shocked than her.

"I...I was kidding." she stuttered feeling embarrassed. It was quite evident that she hadn't anticipated Dhruv would take that step. Ruffling her hair Dhruv replied, "But I wasn't kidding. Enter as much amount as you all want." They were busy in their bickering when Riddhi and Dhriti took me to Dhruv's room.

"I think your brother will be left bankrupt today," Riddhi said.

"Nah, his only treasure is his family and now his wife as well," Dhriti replied feeling proud, even I felt proud of my husband at that time.

We stepped inside the room and found it decorated so beautifully with white and red roses. The room was filled with the fragrance of scented candles. The decoration was neither too much nor too little.

"I hope you liked our efforts?" Dhriti asked.

"It's beautiful." I was admiring the beautiful room when Riddhi said, "Thank God, you like them. Now take rest as Dhruv will come here any minute now." They left me alone with my fast-paced heartbeat, anxiousness, and weird feeling in my abdomen.

Dhruv

******

Beautiful will be the last word I would like to use to describe her, she was looking out of this world, so gorgeous that everyone's eyes were on her. I actually had forgotten to even blink and breathe. It all felt like a dream. The love of my life with whom I always had dreamt my life was taking steps towards me. I had to pinch myself to make sure it wasn't a dream.

Placing his hand on my shoulder Namit said, "Breath." I did so but my eyes were stuck at the figure who was dolled up in red for me. I would have gone to her myself but I was too stunned to react.

When she was near the stage my evil friends blocked her path. I thought they would do something to tease her but what they did next made me smile. I knew all four of them were up to something as I had seen them practicing some lines a day earlier and when I asked them the reply I got was they were reciting the priest's mantras[vedic chants]. I couldn't get them, so I asked the need for it to which they replied,

"What if the priest ran away? And knowing how impatient you are we will have to manage a backup plan."

My idiot best friends.

My Saavi and I proceeded with every ritual. All the tiredness had vanished and just like my friends said I was impatient, to make her mine. I have always belonged to her only but I wanted her to be mine as well.

We took the seven rounds of the holy fire holding hands. I made a promise to myself that I would never let her go away from me. I would always be there for her in every step of her life. While making her wear the nuptial thread I asked for her permission and she nodded in response while smiling shyly at me. There was no going back. With the last ritual of filling her partition with the red vermillion, I made her my wife. I felt emotional but composed myself otherwise she would have gotten upset. We had become husband and wife, finally. We were then bounded for seven lives but I believe it was for eternity.

I thought I could then spend my time with my muffin but no, my sisters and friends had other intentions. They thought they could trap me in that shoe ritual but I was also Dhruv Kapoor, who could do anything to be with his muffin. So when the girls asked me for one crore I gave them my checkbook.

But their intentions were crystal clear, they were not ready to leave me early.

With a lot of requests, they finally let me go. With a wide smile on my face, I ran to my room, and to my disappointment, the two devils were standing at the doorstep.

Riddhi and Dhriti were up to something as they both were smirking at me.

"I need to go inside," I said to both of them thinking they would leave sensing my desperation to see my wife.

"Then go." Little one said crossing her arms.

"You both will have to move for that," I stated the fact but then I received a very stupid reply from my friend Riddhi, "We don't feel like moving tonight."

"Come on guys, please. I am very tired." I pleaded but all my efforts of fooling them went into vain.

"If you are tired then why don't you go and have some rest in Namit's room. I will show you the way." little one was having fun looking at my miserable state.

"Little One."

"Duv," she called me from the name she used to call me in childhood.

"What do you both want?" The businessman's mind of mine started to work and I thought to propose a deal.

"Your time," Dhriti replied. They were aware of how impatient I was.

"Very funny, not today guys. Let me go inside."

"Oh God Dhruv! You are so eager." Both of them moved from the door laughing. I felt embarrassed but I didn't care and just when I thought finally I would get some alone time with my wife my path was blocked by my friends again.

Oh No! What now? I thought.

"We can't let you in that easily," Hredhaan said.

"And why not?" I asked getting frustrated.

"Because you need to give something to us before you enter your room," Namit said making my little one chuckle.

"And why do I need to give something to you all?" Seriously those guys wanted something from me in the middle of the night which was basically my wedding night.

"Because it's a ritual," Kiaan replied.

"As far as I remember sisters of the groom are involved in this ritual." They were hell-bent on pissing me off.

"We are also your sisters." my brother said winking at me.

"Oh yes, if you don't believe us then let us change our appearance," said Arjun and kept a veil on his head followed by my other three friends. At that moment everyone had gathered there and were having fun looking at my state.

"What exactly do you all want?" I thought to get it done once and for all.

"I want a jaguar," Namit said and I thought it's fine. I could easily gift my friend a car but no he wasn't talking about a car.

"I am fine with a black panther," Hredhaan said.

"I want a whale," Arjun said looking at me dreamily as if I was some kind of genie.

"And for me, an anaconda will be fine," Kiaan said as if he was talking about a pet dog.

"What?" I yelled looking at their serious faces.

When their expression remained the same for a few minutes I spoke again, "You guys really want those creatures?"

"Of course," replied Namit.

"Okay." anything to see my wife.

None of them moved even after that instead all of them started laughing.

"If you all will ask for Eiffel Tower my brother will even bring you that." Said my little one proudly. And finally, I was allowed to go inside. They all were messing with me and I thought they were serious.

All of them before going to their rooms yelled, "All the best." I looked at my wristwatch and it was already 2:45 a.m. They had wasted my precious one hour. I twisted the doorknob, opened the door, and went inside the room.

Saavi was standing at a distance from me. I closed the door making a little sound to let her know of my presence. I was getting nervous and looking at her I could tell that she was sailing in the same boat. I found her fiddling with her fingers in nervousness.

What should I do now? Should I say Hi? Weird thoughts started hovering in my mind.

'You are an idiot. She is your wife now. Why are you behaving like a stranger.' My inner self was back mocking me.

'I don't know how to behave with my wife. I didn't take coaching classes for this.' I made a sarcastic comment in my mind.

'Will you do a single thing without taking coaching classes for at least once?' he said.

Ah! He was right. I mused why was I being nervous, she was my Saavi after all. I took deep breathes and finally made my way towards her. I could see her nervousness getting increased with every step. She was stilled at her place as if she was unable to move. I had to do something to calm her. So I pulled her swiftly to me and hugged her to my chest. She wrapped her arms around my torso while I kissed her hair.

We stayed in each other's embrace for a while and pulled back after a few minutes. She was a little better than before. I knew what was needed to make her let go of that feeling of anxiety. I made her sit on the couch and kneeled in front of her.

Holding her hands I said, "Muffin, look at me." She looked up at me with those beautiful eyes of hers.

"Are you scared?" I asked. She shook her head but I knew she was.

"Don't lie."

"I am fine." she finally spoke up.

"Then why are you nervous? Is something bothering you?"

"No, it's just, we are not the same and things have been changed now. We are married and..." Slowly she tried to explain her dilemma and thoughts. Smiling, I sat beside her and cupped her cheeks.

"Muffin, we are still the same. Nothing has been changed between us. Just because we are married now doesn't make much difference and you don't have to feel uncomfortable around me."

She sighed as if a piece of baggage was removed from her chest and hugged me startling me with her act.

"I was scared," she mumbled.

"Scared of what?"

"Everyone said some weird kinds of stuff and were also talking about some responsibilities and all."

"It's fine. All they wanted was to tease you and now they will not. I will not let anyone do that." I said pulling back.

"Promise."

"Yes, my muffin."

"Dhruv, I have to share a lot with you, that happened in the last two days, but.." She stopped in mid and I asked her the reason for the same.

"But what sweetheart?"

"But I also want to remove all these. It hurts now." she pointed towards her jewellery that was too heavy for my wife and pouted at me sadly.

"Let me help you, you continue with your story," I said to her while I busied myself in removing her heavy jewellery.

"And then she said she never went to a haunted house. I wonder how come someone is interested to meet a ghost."

She was telling me weird stories of my sisters and friends while my concentration was on to make her feel comfortable. I removed her veil, earrings, necklace, and then held her hands to remove her bangles while she kept on blabbering. I was happy loving the fact of her being comfortable with me.

"Dhruv, are you even listening?"

"Of course sweetheart," I replied removing her bangles.

"Then tell
