Dhruv

******

"Muffin, are you fine?" I didn't receive any reply from her even when I asked the same question for the third time. Muffin was getting ready while I was impatiently waiting for her. I was getting worried with every passing moment.

"Muffin, if you don't come out in five seconds I will barge in." Pacing around in my room I started counting loudly,

"1,2,3,...."

I didn't have finished counting as the door of the closet opened and my mouth left hung open at the sight in front of me.

'Close your mouth, if you don't want to eat flies.' said my inner self but my focus was on her only.

'How could someone look this good that too in formals?' I wondered. I saw her fidgeting with her fingers while she stood in one place.

"Dhruv," she called but I was too smitten by the beauty in front of me that didn't reply to her. But after a few minutes, I saw tears brimming into her eyes ready to fall anytime soon and she went inside the walk-in closet.

And that's how I come out of my dreamland. Realizing the blunder I did, I followed her permission and saw she had already removed her blazer. Her inferiority complex had taken over her and no response from me only added fuel to the fire.

"Muffin," I called her softly but heard her sniffing.

'Well, great Mr. Dhruv Kapoor. You should be awarded for making your love cry again and again.' My inner self reprimanded me.

I pulled her towards me in my embrace and caressed her hair.

"I am sorry. I was just too stunned that couldn't reply. Do you have any idea how beautiful you are looking right now?"

She shook her head on my chest making me chuckle.

"I can't even explain in words. You are looking really very pretty. You get that?" and she nodded on my chest.

Pulling back I wiped that single tear that had escaped her beautiful eyes and kissed her forehead. I made her wear the blazer she had removed and both of us went out of the house. As I took her to my car she looked at that beauty in astonishment.

"Come," I said holding the door of the passenger seat of the car for her. After we both settled inside the car I put her seat belt on and drove towards our destination.

As I was driving I found her shaking and fiddling with her fingers. I stopped the car aside and after opening both of our seat belts instantly, pulled her to my lap. She squealed but I knew how to calm her.

"Dhruv, what...." Placing her head on my chest over my heart I said, "Ssshhh. Let's just stay like this for a while."

The preceding night in sleep she had scooted closer to me and had mumbled "My peace."

I was filled with pride when I heard that. So now I was trying to make her serene. Intertwining our hands I kissed her knuckles and said, "You don't have to worry. Don't think about anything. Your Dhruv is going to be with you. We will be fine, love."

After making sure that she has calmed down I drove to the office.

When I reached the office I saw Andrew there and asked him to divert the attention of the media. I didn't want muffin to be exposed at least not then.

I got out and opened the car door for her. Extending my hand I gave her a reassuring smile. Holding my hand she got out and we went inside. Saavi was holding me tightly and I was sure the curious glances and the whisperings of my employees would not be easy to take care of.

But still, without even thinking about the consequences I smiled at them just like usual and went to my floor. I had already managed to set up a workplace in my cabin for Saavi.

"So my muffin, this is where you will be working. Ok?" Smiling she nodded.

"Dhruv."

"Yes?"

"What do I have to do?"

"That you will know very soon. My secretary will tell you."

Niharika and Jai both were about to arrive anytime. I had no idea how they were going to react they would see Saavi. Most importantly, I wasn't sure of what muffin would do, whether she would recognize them or not.

I made muffin sit on her chair and was going towards my seat when someone barged into the cabin. As expected she started with her blabbering, "Dhruv, what the hell am I hearing? People are talking about you and a girl. What's going on? Don't you dare tell me that it was...."

NIharika was cut off in mid by Jai who followed her saying, "Nihu calm down. Will you let him even reply?"

I was smiling sheepishly at them. Looking at Jai I knew that he had an idea what exactly was going on.

"But how can I...." Niharika stopped when her gaze fell upon muffin. I found muffin shocked equally. I knew she had recognized them, was just not ready to accept the fact.

Jai looked in the direction Niharika was staring at and was stunned too. An awkward silence had prevailed and before Saavi gets uncomfortable I went towards her and kept a hand on her shoulder.

"So, guys. She is Saavi. I hope you both remember."

Jai was approaching her but stopped when he sensed Saavi was scared. Moreover, she had moved closer to me.

"It's fine, muffin. They are our friends. Don't you remember?" she shook her head in denial.

Jai was hurt but Niharika stood at her place like a mannequin. I gestured to Jai and he took Niharika to her cabin so that he could explain to her the scenario.

I was left baffled when I saw Saavi there. I couldn't even react. What I found astounding was she was afraid. It seemed as if a whole new person was standing in front of me and not the Saavi who used to fight back every time. Jai took me to my cabin and filled me with the recent happenings I was unaware of. I knew Jai was hiding something from me but didn't have the slightest idea what it was. But one statement of his caught my attention. He informed me that she didn't remember any of us. I realized that was the reason for her weird behaviour.

"What do you mean by she doesn't remember anyone of us?"

And then Jai told me about her condition. I was already filled with guilt and now the fact of her suffering from PTSD was disheartening.

The moment I saw her I remembered everything; How I used to hurt her, how she suffered because of me.

My sufferings were justified but hers weren't.

"Nihu, try to act normal in front of her."

"How? How do you expect me to act normal when I am dying to ask for her forgiveness." I was cognizant that I would not be able to live peacefully until I see forgiveness from her.

"Sweetheart, right now, she needs our help and it's better if she doesn't remember the bullying and all. She should forget those bitter memories."

"But...." Jai interrupted me before he questioned, "Don't you want her to forgive you?" I was ready to do anything for her forgiveness.

"More than you think," I replied.

"Then help her. She needs all of us, okay?" Nodding I got up and we both went back to Dhruv's cabin.

I looked at Dhruv and he nodded as a confirmation that I could approach Saavi then.

"Saavi," I called her and she looked at me. The vulnerable look of her was giving me heartache, making me more guilty of my past actions. Masking my guilty expressions I smiled at her and forwarded my hand to her introducing myself, "Hi, I am Niharika, Dhruv's secretary and his friend, and from now on yours too." She looked at Dhruv and shook her hand with me when Dhruv reassured her that I won't harm her.

Jai too introduced himself to her and Dhruv told me to tell her to work on the presentations at the start. I took her to my cabin though I could sense she was not very comfortable around me or Jai except Dhruv.

Knowing her condition well it was expected but I thought to try my level best to make her feel at ease. I was not the same old Niharika who used to hurt others.

As when we entered my cabin I said, "This is my cabin."

I showed her around my cabin which she looked at in awe. I guessed because of the paintings that were hung there. Those were the paintings Saavi had made for Jai. I always adored them so I decorated my cabin with them.

I saw her touching those paintings as if she was remembering the old days.

"These paintings are of Jai. His friend gifted her." I said. My voice broke her out of the trance and she smiled weakly at me.

"So, shall we start working?"

"Yes," she replied.

Both of us seated ourselves and I started to tell her what exactly she had to do. For the time being, she will suppose to make presentations for the upcoming meetings. I explained everything and gave her the pen drive that had the soft copies she would require for the details to make the presentation.

I left her back to Dhruv's cabin and after a while, Dhruv came.

Niharika left muffin back and excusing myself from muffin for a while I went to Niharika's cabin.

"Did you explain everything?" I asked.

"Yes."

"She doesn't even remember you?" Niharika asked me. Smiling sadly at her I replied, "She does, she is just scared to admit."

"I thought so," she mumbled but I heard her.

"What do you mean?"

"She was looking at those paintings as if she was reminiscing the old times."

I sighed thinking whether my plan of making her accept the truth would work or not but I had to take that risk.

"What's stopping her?" I could see she was desperate to know just like others.

"I don't know yet, but I will soon find out." She nodded while I got back to my cabin. I saw muffin engrossed in her work and all I was doing was looking at her being mesmerized at the dedicated and hardworking beauty. She was so immersed in her work that she didn't even notice my presence.

I thought not to disturb her and instead work on my confidential plan. With that thought, I went out of the cabin and called the one person who was capable of helping me at that time.

The call got picked after the first ring itself and I said, "Hello Vishakha, can we meet?"
