'God, back in those early days, we were thicker than molasses. Most of us, anyway. You have to understand that Elvis was a true chameleon. I promise you, they couldn't put up a maze in a fourteenth-century castle like what was in his mind.

He was such a dichotomy. Different personalities would emerge at different times, and he would use them to his advantage.

The biggest problem in dealing with these personalities was trying to outthink him. Oftentimes, you would know what to expect, but if he caught you figuring him out, he would just do the opposite to throw you off or prove you wrong. He just didn't want you to know him. That was rough to be around. You were addicted to it, but God, it was rough.'
