Charity balls are nothing but an excuse for the rich to get richer. The only reasons they host it is for people to find people who will invest in their business. Oh, and also for parents to marry their children off so they would combine the business. See, told you, the rich get richer and the party thrown for the poor gets forgotten.

As I slipped on my blue dress, I brushed down the fabric of the delicate dress. I really liked this dress and put a lot of thought into choosing it. It was light blue and had a shiny silk texture to it. I didn't understand why girls thought red meant the color sexiness and confidence. Blue does equally the same. A touch of innocence with beauty. I loved it.

"Miss Vanderbilt, you have a delivery." one of my maids told me while bringing a beautiful blue box with a bow.

I took the box and set it on the table. There was a card.

A little something for you when you claim your prize

~Alexander King

I opened the box to see a navy blue heel. It was so pretty. It also had leather on it. How thoughtful. How did he even know I was going to wear blue?

I grabbed my phone and decided to text him a thank you text.

I finished getting ready with a pair of Sapphire diamond earrings. I wore the heel for the final touch and I was good to go.

The sound of my heels clicked on the marble stairs as I went down.

"Well don't you look beautiful Sorella?" Aiden says.

I look up to see my brothers in the living room. Aiden was sitting on the couch reading while Tristian was on the armchair with a glass of whisky.

My brothers were never the type to go to parties. They think it's a waste of time. Why go mingle with the guests about your new deal when you can just do the same in a business office.

"Thank you Aiden" I smiled.

"Hey, you okay with us not picking you up?" Tristen asked as he sipped his whiskey.

"Yeah. I think one of the boys is taking me back home." I replied.

Tristen stares for a while into my eyes before nodding his head and finishing his whiskey.

"Is everything okay?" I asked confused.

"Yeah, everything is fine princess. Now go. Have fun." Tristen says while giving me a small smile.

"Not too much! Behave yourself, Talia. You know what happened last time." Aiden scolds with a wink.

How could I forget, I came home to Aiden answering a phone call about the delivery of 100 bottles of champagne.

I chuckled and walked outside to the entrance of my house. I thanked my driver as he helped me into the car and drove off.

After a while, we arrived at the Kings Estate. It was even more breathtakingly decorated. Lights were everywhere and rich people in gowns and dresses were everywhere you turn.

I stepped out of my limo and took in the view. I heard someone call my name and I turned around.

"Gabriel!" I grinned.

"Talia, you look lovely." Gabriel smiles while checking out my whole body. I think he almost drooled.

"Haha thank you, Gabriel. Now let's get in. It's rather cold outside." I say while grabbing his arm. He didn't move. I looked at him, confused.

"You forgot? This was a masquerade ball. Alex didn't tell you? It was a last-minute change." Gabriel says.

"Oh. I didn't know." I say realizing that more and more people turning up in masks.

He probably did this on purpose, that sneaky rat.

"Don't worry, here. I knew something like this would happen." He says while holding a laced black mask to me.

"Thank you," I say slipping it on as he slipped his on. His was black as well.

We walked into the ballroom hand in hand. Immediately, eyes were on us. Gabriel took 2 champagne glasses from a nearby waiter and handed one to me. I thanked him and sipped on the champagne.

I took in my surrounding to see many ladies in elegant dresses. Men and women in different masks. The ballroom was lively. A huge chandelier stood in the middle of the dance floor.

"Princess you look stunning."

I turned around to be faced with Tyler and Nathan.

"Yes, you look rather ravishing," Nathan whispers while stepping closer to me.

I sucked in a breathe while stuttering, "Y-You don't look so bad yourself."

They grinned as they drank their champagne while keeping eye contact with him. All of a sudden, we heard the room explode in whispers. Everyone's heard was turned to the main entrance. I turned to see none other than the Alexander King himself.

He walked down the steps in elegance and grace. His eyes roamed around the room in search of something. When it landed on us, his tense shoulders relaxed. He made his way to us and grabbed a glass of champagne on the way.

"Boys. Always dressed to impress I see." Alex greeted them.

"Speak for yourself, you look like the prince of England." Tyler grinned.

Alex's gaze then lands on me. He parted his lips with a playful glint in his eyes.

"And Talia. You look good. Too good. Didn't anyone ever tell you that you should be locked in a tower and never let out because of how you can bring any man down with just one glance?" Alex says.

"Oh please. Stop with the misogyny. I'm a perfectly fine human being, not some rapunzel you keep in a tower." I scoffed.

"Touché" Alex replied.

"And thank you. For the shoes. They were lovely." I smiled in gratitude.

"Your welcome. I'm glad you like it." Alex replied.

"Now Come, you have a prize to claim remember." He took my hand in his and dragged me away. The other three are not so far behind our tail.

He led us to the other side of the estate. We then stopped in front of a large wooden door. I was beyond excited that I ran towards the door to push it open but was stopped by a hand.

"Not too fast princess," Alex says while fishing out a key from his pocket, "it's locked to keep roaming eyes like yours away."

I huffed.

Tyler put his hands around my waist while we watched Alex unlock the door to the winery.

"Surprise."
