Aurora POV

No answer. I try his phone again but it rings and goes straight to voice mail. What the hell. I've called Aaron three times now and he won't pick up.

It is currently Friday, nine- forty am.

I fall into my bed with a groan and stare at my ceiling. What happened? I hadn't talked to him in three days and he hasn't picked up any of my calls.

Whenever I ask Seth or Daniel they always say he's working and he's busy.

We were fine a week ago, things were going really well. God he's like a different person each day of the week. I sit up and rummage through my closest trying to find an outfit. I'll go to his house.

I slip on a half zip and keep my sweats on. I grab my keys and jog downstairs and outside. Mom is out designing a house for one her friends or something along those lines. Parker is playing games and Dad is taking a walk. It's an understatement to say things are boring here as of now. And Charlotte is snoring away.

I step onto the driveways and Daniels car pulls in. Charlotte spots me and starts waving. "Hey!"

"Hey where'd you go? It's 10 in the morning." I asks. Usually mornings do not start for Charlotte until 2 PM rolls around so seeing her up and early is a shocker. And I didn't even hear her leave the house.

"Oh you know me and Daniel grabbed some breakfast." She says flirtatiously and hops out. She grabs Daniels face and plops a kiss on it.

I make gaging sounds in the back.

"Oh please," Daniel rolls his eyes and sticks his head out the window, "where are you heading?"

"Funny you say, I'm going to Aaron's house. He still hasn't returned my calls and I'm worried now." I exasperate and with forlorn face.

Daniel looks away, his eyes unreadable. He clears his throat and looks down at his nails, avoiding my eyes. "You'd be wasting your time by going," he calls out.

He knows something. Why isn't he telling me?

"Why?" I simply ask back. I rock back and forth and Charlotte as well looks confusedly at Daniel.

"He's not home. He's at his house in the Hamptons for the weekend." He looks up and squints at the sun.

"Oh." I say disappointedly. "Daniel, tell me what's wrong. We were amazing last week and now it's like a switch flipped in him. Did something happen?" I breathe out tiredly, flapping my arms around for exaggeration.

"Aurora calm down," He soothes, "Aaron is busy, he's making a hard deal that's not going well. Give him time." He lies straight through his teeth.

My teeth grind together and I look away angrily. So much for being an honest friend.

"Okay thanks, I think I'm gonna go for a drive." I dismiss coldly and hop in my car.

Maybe I am overreacting. It's probably a hard week at work with his business.

I start my car and drive through the neighborhood a couple of time and grab Starbucks. I feel better on a partially full stomach.

I arrive home and walk in to see mail next to the key rack with my name. A very expensive looking envelope.

It's from Aaron's Company.

I tear it open and my eyes scan the words delicately written words in calligraphy.

It's an invitation, to a charity event.

"It came just as you left. Exciting isn't it?" Charlotte beams next me. I look up at her, "A charity event?" I question. I look back and check the date.

It's this weekend, Sunday. In two days. Why would he do this on such short notice? "Oh Aurora! We can go dress shopping and get all pretty! I cant wait!" Charlotte practically sings and shakes my shoulder.

I force a smile and set the letter down. "I don't think I'm gonna go." I say directly. Cmon, I've called him a million times and Daniel said he's been busy with work. But he had time to organize a charity event?

"Yes you are. Let's go please, you never know maybe he wants to talk to you at the event about something important!" She says excitedly basically jumping up and down with a gleam radiating in her eyes.

"Like what?" I question. She's a bit too hyper if you ask me, even for Charlotte.

"I have no idea but you'll never know if you don't go." She sigh.

"I don't know..." I trial, I wasn't feeling my best but I was curious as to what he'd do if he saw me and his excuse to ignoring me.

"That's it, you're going." She declares. I walk towards the living room and collapse on the couch. "Charlotte, I'm going for you and only you," I tease and pick up a magazine, hiding my face.

"Thank you my darling," she exaggerates with a hand on her forehead and plops right on me.

I shriek from her weight and wiggle under her. "Okay okay! Let's go shopping now because tomorrow I have to meet some people for business in Florida." I laugh breathlessly and prop on my elbows.

That definitely gets Charlottes attention and she eagerly gets up. "Okay I already and you look ready too. Let's get moving!" She rivers and pushed me off the couch and on my feet. I'm basically dragged out the door and I barely had enough willpower to grab my keys.

"God, woman. Slow down! The mall isn't going anywhere." I beg her and shut my eyes as if I was in pain.

She loosens her grip and we drive off towards the mall in hopes of finding a dress.

I actually have no idea what I'm looking for if I'm being honest. This was so sudden I don't think my heads wrapped around it yet. I hadn't even changed from what I woke up in. This day has been pretty hectic to say the least.

"What color are thinking?" I hum to Charlotte while pulling into the mall and parking.

"Something red maybe? Would red look good?" She questions. "You would look amazing in red." I nod to her. She really would, it compliments her complexion amazingly.

We head into a boutique but it didn't have what we were looking for so we went to another store. This store is definitely bigger and has more options.

I walked toward the racks and rummaged around trying to find something that caught my eye.

"Aurora, come here." Charlotte calls out. I look behind me and she's holding a dress in her hand. My curiosity spikes and I walk over to her.

"This is perfect for you. No questions." She shoves it into my hands and as the material dissolves into my palms I can't help but fall in love with it as well.

It was astonishingly gorgeous black full length gown with a daring slit and deep plunge. It was beautiful.

Charlotte smirks at me knowingly. I roll my eyes at her bump shoulders. "Okay we've find mine but yours?"

"You go try on the dress and I'll keep looking for mine." She says and directs me towards the changing rooms.

I slide the curtain close and slip the dress on myself carefully, not wanting to pull it tug too hard. It fits perfectly in all the right places.

I squeak excitedly and twirl in the mirror. I walk for Charlotte to see and she drops her jaw. "Oh my god, you lucky bastard." She teases and huffs childishly. She worrisomely looks through the dresses again.

"We will find you your perfect dress calm down," I assure her and run my hands down my dress.

I take off the dress and help her look. I go too one of the racks in the back and call her name. "Charlotte! Look here, they're some good stuff."

She comes over and gets to work. A red dress catches me eyes and I pull it out. Charlotte let's put a small gasps and I nod my head knowingly.

It was a long sleeve full length red dress but the sleeves were a delicate lace.

She squeals excitedly. Oh thank god, and it only took us two hours. I could really use a milkshakes or some French fries. I don't think I'm buying anything else. I have the perfect shoes for my dress at home and some accessories.

"Are we ready to pay and go?" I ask and readjust my dress on my hands. She nods and basically skips to the register.

We pay for our owns dresses even though I tried persuading Charlotte to let me pay for her but she wouldn't budge.

We arrive back home and the sun is going down slowly. I encounter my mom sitting on the kitchen barstools with a letter in her hand. We catch her attention and her head turns to us,

"Oh there you are, it's this lovely?" She says referring to the invitation. "Are those dresses?"

"Yeah they are." I say and place the bags on a stool. I grab some water and gulp it hungrily. Charlotte takes a seat on the cushion.

"Are you guys going?" Charlotte asks my mom.

"I don't think so, I have a very important showing on Sunday." Mom shakes her head sadly and pursues her lips.

Sunday

Sunday morning I woke up feeling like death. I don't know why. I woke up feeling so miserable and tired and angry and hungry and with a little headache. But I didn't even sleep late last night.

Charlotte is still snoring like a dog in the next room and I try my best effort to get up. I take a look in the mirror and it's not a pretty sight. Drool everywhere and hair sticking up.

When did I die and why did no one tell me?

The event is at seven o'clock and it's currently one o'clock. I have plenty time to get a little more sleep in right?

I put my alarm for four o'clock and fall back into my bed. I feel so terrible if I don't sleep a little more I might go crazy.

It'll be good for the economy.
