Ellison Taylor

Brent had to leave at 5 pm to hang out with his friends. He drop me to my place and quickly left as he was getting late.

"I'll see you on Sunday." He said. "We'll go and pick them up together." I agreed with the plan. Those two will definitely drive me nuts and then I think we will start fighting before we get home. Talk about how nice we are, my grandma thinks I'm the only one who always starts the fight or I instigate it. It's not fair, they always say something or do something that gets on my damn nerve.

"Ellison." I heard Ian's voice behind me and I jumped a bit.

"What are you doing here?" I asked. "How did you know which floor I was staying in?"

He give me a guilty look and said, "I did some research."

"You know stalking is a crime." I said and he chuckled a bit. "I'm serious."

"I know." He said. "Your secretary has a big mouth." He frowned. I am scowling now, Rosa needs to learn when to open her mouth. I'm scared how many people know my address now.

"Don't worry, she said she doesn't share with much people about your personal life. She give me your address because I'm her boss." This time, I glared at him.

"You are Misusing your power, Mr. Collins." I said.

"I know, Ms.Taylor." He said. "I apologize for that."

I rolled my eyes, it's awkward using the formalities and more awkward having my use to be ex-crush slash new boss in this hallway.

"We are crossing the professional threshold." I whispered. Brent's words clear in my mind.

"I thought we agreed to being friends outside work?" He frowned.

I didn't expect him to take me seriously. This time, he scowled at me. "Did you just say it to make me feel better?"

"I have to go in." I said as I punched the code in the apartment door.

"Can I come in?" He asked and I thought for a while. Brent will be so mad when he learns about this.

"Okay." I said awkwardly.

He looked around the apartment. It's a three bedroom apartment, two bathrooms and a kitchen. Brent found this apartment on sale and I was glad that I have saved a lot during my college time and at work and was able to purchase this with my parents little help. They felt guilty for not being there for us often.

"Nice place." He said as he looked around. It's not that big nor that small. It's cozy.

"Thanks, would you like any drink?" I asked as I opened the fridge.

"Just water will be fine." He said as he stood in the counter. He seemed so out of place here. His expensive attire and the way he carry himself make him so out of place over here. I remember his beautiful hang out space, it's nothing compare to this and I wonder if he still have that hang out place and if he still use that place to hang out.

I pour some water for him in a glass and took out a bag of chip and a chocolate box.

"Where did you go?" He asked.

"Just went out." I said.

"With who? your boyfriend?" He asked playing with the cup.

I silently sip my tip and ignored his question.

"You did, didn't you?" He asked looking at me with panic in his eyes and I shrug.

"Is it that guy from work?" He asked, his eyes was angry and I thought for a while who he was talking about?

"You mean Kingsley?" I asked, laughing. That was the least expected thing. "No. I'm not dating him or anyone else." I said as I turned serious once again and I see him relieved for a moment.

"Okay good because I will be upset if you were." I heard him mutter under his breath. I ignore that comment.

"Why are you here?" I asked.

"Right." He said as he turned serious.

"No." I said shaking my head, "I don't want to be the financial director." I was horrified by his offer. Yes, the salary is great but it involves a lot of money.

He frowned. "I'm looking for a new financial director."

"What happened to our current one?" I questioned him. Mr. Smith has apparently been working as the financial director for a long time now and I can't imagine anyone else being the financial director than him.

"He is planning to have an early retirement." He said and I gasped. "It's a plan... he is still thinking about it."

"But he is such a nice man." He rolled his eyes at me.

"I don't know who else to offer this role to?"

"You can always hire someone else."

"I want to give the position to someone who has been in the company for a while."

"I think Mrs. Singh would be the perfect one." I said clapping my hands in delight. "She have backgrounds in business along with fashion and is very good at her work."

He looked thoughtful. "Thanks for your suggestion. I'll look into this matter."

"Anything else?" I asked.

"We will be moving people around like I mentioned before."

"I know." I said.

"And since I trust you, maybe you can suggest people to me?"

"No." I said. "That's bias and unfair."

"Don't worry, it's just suggestions and of course I'll be checking their work and will be asking Taylor for her feedback  about this matter. So rest assured." He said and I took a sigh of relief.

"You need to relax." He said as he took a chocolate.

"How can I relax when you are asking me about these things?"

He put his finger on his chin in a thoughtful manner. "Too much pressure?"

"Of course, Mr. Collins." I rolled my eyes and he laughed.

"I think being your boss is not too bad."

I raised one of my eyebrow at him while he give me a sweet smile.
