"You might want to sit down." I tell her as I place my hand on the small of her back and lead her to the lounge.

She sits down and looks around at everyone, then back at me.

"Give us a moment?" I question my family who all stand up and leave the room.

"You're really starting to scare me," Aubrey says softly. "Whatever trouble you're in, it must be bad."

"It is." I take her hand in mine. "Please tell me you'll let me tell you everything start to finish?"

"Okay." She nods

"I've been lying to you, I know you know that I have a lot of money and that it comes from my two business, and that's true, but it's not the entire truth." I take a breath "I run the club as you know, all of that is above board, but the shipping company I run from the offices in the city, that's a different story. We ship things, but not the things I've lead you to believe."

She stays quiet and keeps her eyes locked on me. "As of a few months ago, I took over one of the largest Mafia rings in the country. It was handed down to me from my dad, and before him, my grandad and we use the shipping company as a way to export drugs and weapons around the world."

I pause for a moment, waiting for some kind of reaction, but I don't get one, she just stares at me. "The night at the club, when those men stormed the place, I did know them, they belong to the Russian Mafia and they were after me. They still after me and now you as well."

"Y-you're a criminal?" She blinks away her tears. "You ship and sell drugs, and you kill people for a living is that what you're telling?"

"Yes Sweetheart, that's what I'm telling you, and I should have never dragged you into his world but I-"

"No, you shouldn't have." She pulls her hand away. "You should have told me, you should have let me choose if I wanted to be part of this or not."

"Aubrey I wanted to tell you, but it's not something I can just come right out and tell people, please tell me you understand that?"

"I understand, I can't imagine it would be easy telling people you're a criminal." She fires back, tears streaming down her face. "Why? Why did you let me fall in love with you? I don't even know who you are."

"I'm still the same person, I care about you more than anything in this world."

"Just not enough to keep me out of danger?"

"I promise you're safe here, I am keeping you safe."

"I'd be safe if you never came near me in the first place Easton!" She shouts "why didn't you just stay away from me to begin with."

"I tired." I snap back "I tried to stay away from you, but I can't okay, I can't, I tried to push you away, I did everything I could, but I fucking love you, I just couldn't."

This fight is useless, us shouting at each other is a waste of time. The fact is, I've lost her and I already know it.

"Who else knows?" She questions

"All my family work for me, that wasn't a lie. Amara, Nate, Leo, Evie, every single one of us is in the family business."

"Who else knows." She shouts at me once more

"Angie, Damon and Caleb," I admit, "My grandad told Angie the night she arrived"

"They all knew?" She asks tears streaming down her cheeks. "Every single person in my life knew the truth except for me."

"They were protecting you, the same way I was, it was better for you to not know."

She shakes her head and stands up, her voice now husky from all of her tears. "Every single person I trusted kept this from me." She wipes her tears "I have no one I can trust."

"Sweetheart please, you can trust me, this doesn't change anything."

"This changes everything." She shouts as the tears keep streaming down her cheeks. "You killed my best friend." she screams "This entire thing is on you." She picks up her bag from the floor and heads for the door "I'm leaving."

"Aubrey, you can't go, these men aren't messing around, they mean business," I say as I stand up and chase after her.

I grab her arm and pull her back to me. "You can't go," I repeat.

"I don't care, Easton, I couldn't care less about what happens from here, now let of me go."  She snatches her arm back

"Aubrey," Grandad says from behind us. "Please, before you go, come and talk with me and my wife a moment, if you still want to leave after that you're free to go.

She nods her hand and follows after grandad.

Aubrey's POV:

I follow Chet into a room off to the side of the lounge room, Amity is already sitting there waiting for us. I don't know why I'm listening to them in the first place, why should I care what a bunch of criminals have to say? Then again Chet has always been very kind to me.

"Sit if you like, or stand, whatever works for you," Chet says softly as he takes a seat next to Amity.

"I understand this is a lot to take in right now, but Easton is right if you leave now you're putting yourself in grave danger and despite what you may think of him and us right now, we do all care about you."

Listening to Amity's words I sit down at the table in front of her and Chet and sigh softly. "Go ahead." I encourage them to tell me whatever it is they pulled me in here for.

"You're the first person we've had in the family that isn't apart of the gang or Mafia world so I understand this is very hard on you, and I'm sure your head is spinning," Amity says softly.

"In the beginning, Amity and my story started out much the same." Chet begins. "I fell in love with her, and she with me, but I was running a small drug shipping company of my own. I had people after me, I was in danger and just being with her put her in danger as well, I knew that but I was selfish and I was in love with her and after many failed attempts of pushing her away I gave into my true feelings."

"But you said I'm the first person to come into your world that isn't from this world?" I question

"You are." Amity smiles softly "Before I was Amity Raven, I was Amity Logan and my father Dean Logan was the leader of the Cobras that's the group we still belong to."

"The Cobras? I've never heard of you."

"That's because we're not as bad as you may think Sweetheart." Chet speaks once more "You don't hear about us because we don't cause any trouble and we lie low, the only time we fight is in times like these when we have no choice."

"You are right, we are criminals, we do sell drugs and we do ship drugs along with weapons around the world and we do have connections with many Cartels and small-time drug runners but killing really isn't our thing" Amity speaks once more.

"Why are the Russians after Easton? What did he do?"

"He's trying to put a stop to human trafficking, we've had men on the ground for months watching their every move, breaking the girls out and getting them to safety. Because of Easton, they're losing a lot of money and they don't like that."

"H-human trafficking?"

"This world isn't pretty Sweetheart, bad things happen and there are bad people out there. What we do isn't above board but I can assure you we'd never hurt anyone without reason. Yes, all of us have pulled the trigger more times then I'd like to count, but it's what we have to do sometimes. Maybe that makes us bad people, I don't know." Chet shrugs

"You're not." I say softly looking up at them "You're not bad people." I look down at the table once again. "I-If I want to leave, am I allowed to leave, or are you going to keep me here?"

"We'd never keep you or anyone here against their will Aubrey, you're free to go." Chet nods

"But you're also welcome to stay." Amity adds with a smile "I know you're hurting right now, and rightfully so, I know you feel like you can't trust any of us, but we do care for you, and I believe my grandson when he tells you he loves you."

I stand up from the table and pick my bag up once more exiting the room and entering the kitchen where everyone is sitting around the table

"What room can I stay in?"

"I'll take you" Amara stands up from the table.
