Matty squeezed George's hand as the plane lifted off. George has agreed to swap places with him so he didn't have to be by the window seat. Usually, he would kiss or talk to Kat to try and take his mind off it but he didn't have her and he wouldn't for a while.

"Welcome to the zero three three two flight to London Heathrow." The air hostess said into the receiver. They went through the normal procedures as they entered the sky.

"Jesus Christ, I hate planes." Matty mumbled. George chuckled to himself.

"Think about what you're going to say to Kat when you see her." He suggested.

"What? I'm just gonna tell her I love her and that she can do what she wants." He shrugged. George didn't reply, he just got his phone out and started to try and connect to the wifi. "Any updates on your Angie situation?" he asked. George sighed.

"Nope, before she left all she would talk about is sending these tapes off to the record labels. We never actually spoke about us." He said sadly. "I don't think she wants to be with me mate" He sighed. Matty felt angry, George deserved the world in his eyes.

"If that's the case, you're too good for her" he patted him on the hand and took in a deep breath as they went through some turbulence.

Contrary to Matty's premonitions, they landed safely and started to make their way to their hotel. Kat had assumed they were meeting her and Angie in Manchester on saturday but they had decided to surprise them on Friday and travel together in the morning.

"Okay. Angie gave me Kat's address. Do you wanna head over later, she's at work right now." George told Matty as they placed their suitcases in their room.

"Nope. I'm going to go to her workplace and surprise her." He smiled, George squinted his eyes.

"Are you sure that's a good idea?" He asked. Matty shrugged, shutting the door abruptly as he left. George sighed and collapsed on the bed.

Matty went into a local Tesco on his way and bought some roses. He needed to be sweet, the perfect boyfriend in front of her new work friends. He arrived at the large glass building in Manchester square funnily enough and walked in with pride.

"Hello" He grinned at the woman at the front desk. She looked at him, squinted her eyes and then looked at the flowers. When she didn't reply, he continued. "I'm here to see Kat Peterson" the woman looked at a list that was sellotaped to the wall.

"Name?" She asked.

"Matty Healy" He replied, she raised her eyebrows and wrote it down on some sort of sticker.

"Fourth floor. Wear this." She handed him a sticker that had 'visitor' on it.

As he walked casually over to the lift, he didn't quite hear the woman call up and tell her boss that Matty Healy was there to see Kat.

He took a deep breath, excited to see her. It had almost been a week. The lift door opened on the second floor and none other than Alex Turner stood there.

"Matty Healy" He beamed as he recognised him. "Here to see your bird, I imagine" He laughed as he got in with him. Matty was slightly starstruck.

"Yeah, mate." He grinned at him. Alex didn't press a button so he assumed they were going to the same floor.

"I made her show me some of the stuff she's written. Quality stuff" He complimented. Matty nodded.

"She's very talented" He confirmed. Alex nodded and licked his lips.

"That, she is." He sighed. Matty didn't like his vibe so he didn't say anything else. The doors opened on the fourth floor and they both stepped out. "She's down there on the right. Nice meeting you, mate" Alex waved.

"You too. Big fan" Matty waved back.

"Likewise" Alex yelled but he was already walking in the opposite direction.

Matty got a lot of weird looks as he wandered through the office. Even with Alex's helpful directions, he got a bit lost. He walked up to a girl, who looked about the same age as Kat and decided to ask.

"Excuse me, where can I find Kat Peterson?" He asked. She turned her head to the side.

"Her booth is just over there, opposite the bathrooms" She pointed out. Matty thanked her and walked in that direction. Then, he saw her. She was sat at a desk on her laptop, deep in thought.

"Boo!" He said as he stood next to her. Kat looked up and her eyes widened.

"Matty!" She burst, leaping up and hugging him tightly. He nuzzled his head into her shoulder and kissed her neck quickly. "What are you doing here?" She asked. He shrugged.

"George and I thought we'd come a bit earlier and ravel with you tomorrow" He kept her close to him, he couldn't help it. She kissed him on the cheek and looked at the flowers. "These are for you obviously" He handed them to her and she took them.

"Hey, Kat. I can put them in some water for your desk if you want" A new voice suggested. They both turned around to see the girl Matty had asked for directions from.

"Oh, thanks Bex. That'd be great" She handed them to her, still squished up against Matty.

"So, when do you get off?" He asked, she looked at her desk and sighed.

"Four thirty- ish. Maybe five if I get given another task" She wrapped both her arms around his neck so he rested his around her torso. He dipped his head and she kissed his cheek and then behind his ear.

"Okay. Do you want me to come and pick you up or meet you at your flat?" He asked, she kissed him on the lips and shrugged.

"I don't mind. I'm just happy you're here" She smiled. He nodded and smiled back.

"Okay, I won't get in the way of you working. I think me and George are going to go over to yours, is Angie there?" He asked. She bit her lip.

"I think so. Are she and George going to talk?" She wondered. Matty shrugged.

"They have to at some point" He sighed. "I have a feeling she's going to break his heart though" Kat nodded.

"She hasn't spoken to me about it but I have that feeling as well" She confessed. Matty nodded sadly. "She's not coming up north with us either now. She's going back to her old job" She explained.

"Shit, so they better make a decision. Both our birds are becoming southerners" He clasped his hand over his mouth as if he had just sworn. She giggled and hit his chest.

"Shut up, Ratty" She looked down at her desk at all the stuff she had to do.

"Hey, I met Alex Turner on the way up." He told her, she nodded as if it were a normal occurrence for her.

"Yeah, he's on this floor a lot now. Writing the new monkeys album I assume" She shrugged. Matty knew he should've dropped it but he couldn't help himself.

"He seems to know you pretty well now" He had no evidence, other than what he had said earlier. Kat squinted her eyes at him.

"He's very friendly with all the songwriters. He works with a lot of them and is one himself. He writes for a lot of artists" She informed him. "But, like all band members, he'll go off on tour one day" She shrugged. Matty laughed.

"Well, he seems like a cool guy" He mumbled. Kat tapped his cheek a few times.

"He has a girlfriend, Matty. Pipe down" She said quietly, aware of everyone else in the room. Matty chuckled and kissed her quickly.

"Matthew Healy. Is this going to be a common occurrence, you visiting my fourth floor?" a voice boomed. It was Robert. Matty turned around and assumed that the man was Kat's boss.

"Absolutely not. I'm on my way out right now." He saluted him cheekily. Robert nodded.

"Sorry, Mr Long." Kat said timidly.

"It's quite alright, Kat. I know how rockstars can be" He said light-heartedly. Kat smiled. Matty turned to her and kissed her goodbye.

"See you at yours" He winked, she smiled. "Sorry for the disturbance" He apologised and made a swift exit.

Kat sat back at her desk and Bex, her desk neighbour and new friend, brought her the roses he had brought. Robert sighed and followed Matty to the lifts. Matty gave him a cheeky smile as they both waited for it but prayed he didn't start a conversation.

"Kat has promised me your lifestyle won't get in the way of her work. I trust that's something you agree with" He said, out of the blue. Matty took a deep breath and entered the lift with him.

"Don't really have a choice. She knows what she wants. I'm just trying to keep up" He replied. Robert let out a satisfied laugh.

"Good." Matty couldn't help himself.

"Just keep her away from that Monkeys lad" He requested. Robert let out a loud laugh.

"Alex is the least of your problems. She's going to be working with many bands. You're lucky Mr Turner writes all of his own songs" He chuckled, getting out on the second floor. "It was nice to see you, Mr Healy. Don't make it a frequent thing though." Matty just waved.

Knob, he thought.
