The whole group was backstage, there was music blaring and smoke everywhere. Random people were walking in and out of the open doors, opened for that purpose.

George was drumming on the table, deep in conversation with a tech guy from the venue. Ross was sat with Tammy on his knee as they spoke with Adam and Jamie. Matty was sat on the sofa opposite, his arm around Kat who was on her phone.

"Who are you texting?" He asked, pulling the cigarette out of his mouth. The smoke escaped his lips as he formed his words.

"An old friend." She confessed, she put her phone down and looked up at him. He smiled at her, she slapped his leg and stood up.

"What? Where are you going?" He grabbed her hand.

"I'll be back in a second" She leant down and kissed him softly, took a drag of his cigarette and left the room with the knowledge he was watching her.

Kat skipped out of the dressing room, down the stairs to the stage door where Evan and his girlfriend were supposed to be. The big security guard opened the door for her and the two were stood just outside.

"Hey!" She grinned at the sight. Evan was wearing his usual loose t shirt and jeans while the small girl next to him was wearing a tight dress. "You must be Evan's girlfriend..." She squinted her eyes, realising she didn't know what her name was.

"Alexis." She answered, holding out her hand. Kat stared at it, and laughed awkwardly.

"Nice to meet you" She shook her hand briefly and turned around to lead them up to where everyone was partying.

"Backstage huh? Do you know the band?" Evan asked, she nodded.

"Uh, yeah sort of." She

"Wow, is it always such a party after a show?" Evan questioned. Kat shrugged.

"On the first night, normally. On the second night everyone is exhausted and just wants to go home." She explained, they both laughed.

"Hey, who's that with Kat?" Ross asked Tammy. She swivelled her body and almost spat out her drink.

"Fuck me, that's Evan." She said. They both watched Kat talking to the couple and then Ross looked at Matty, who looked just as confused.

"Who's Evan?" He asked, Tammy got off Ross and stood up.

"Ex. He cheated on her...a lot. I don't know why he's here. What is she doing?" then her mind went to the same place, she looked over at Matty who was watching his girlfriend. "Fuck fuck fuck fuck." She muttered and tried to get a plan in action. "Okay, distract and attack. You distract Matty, I'll attack the newcomers." They high fived and executed the plan.

"Hey Evan! Remember me?" Tammy went up to Kat and the couple. Evan's eyes widened and Tammy laughed. "Yeah, I thought you might."

Ross sat in Matty's view of his girlfriend. Matty looked at him and furrowed his eyebrows.

"Hey." He said, Ross smiled but he hadn't really thought it through what he was going to talk about.

"You having fun?" He asked, Matty pulled a face. Why was he being so weird?

"Do you know who Kat's talking to?" He asked, Ross turned around and saw Tammy laughing with this guy. A wave of jealousy rushed through him but he shook it off.

"I think it's an old friend of there's." He lied, Matty knew he was lying which made him panic.

"Maybe I should introduce myself." Matty said, Ross tried to trip him up as he got up but he couldn't stop him.

"Wow, I can see all the band members." Alexis gasped, looking around the room. Kat laughed and nodded.

"How do you know them exactly?" Evan asked. At that exact moment, Matty threw his arm around Kat and squeezed her shoulder tightly.

"Hey, you guys friends of Kat's?" He asked, Kat's eyes widened. She hadn't thought about what she would say to Matty. Alexis' eyes widened even wider though when she realised who was stood in front of her.

"Yeah, we go way back." Evan smiled, Tammy scowled and Matty noticed.

"This is Matty, my-"

"The lead singer of the band we just watched. Very impressive, good show man." Evan congratulated him. Tammy wanted to die.

"Thanks, appreciate it." He nodded, "so, how do you guys know each other?"

"Ah, we're old friends" Evan answered for them, Kat couldn't be more grateful until

"Didn't you guys used to date?" Alexis said confused. Matty took his arm away from Kat and stood back a bit.

"Yeah but that was such a long time ago." Kat laughed, looking at Matty who looked extremely uncomfortable.

"Can I get you guys a drink? Let me show you the bar." Tammy pushed to the couple. Alexis nodded and they both went over to the bar.

"Am I seeing this wrong or did you invite your ex backstage?" Matty asked, trying not to get mad.

"We ran into each other and he said he was coming tonight. It's not that big of a deal" she said, panicking. He ran his hands through his hair roughly and breathed out.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asked, needing a cigarette.

"I did, I said I was texting an old friend. I was going to tell you that he was here but then he was already here and I didn't know what to do. I'm sorry, I didn't think it would be a big deal because he has a girlfriend." Matty furrowed his eyebrows.

"Which boyfriend is he? The one that cheated repeatedly or the one who was emotionally abusive?" He asked, Kat rolled her eyes and refused to answer. "Kat, which one is he?" He asked aggressively.

"Don't get aggressive, it's not that big of a deal." She snapped. Matty audibly growled with anger.

"If you don't tell me, I'm going to assume the worst." He pointed out. Kat rolled her eyes again which he hated.

"Fine. The one that cheated repeatedly." She answered, his eyes widened.

"Well I'm not going to like him then so what's the point of you bringing him here." He stood back and placed a hand on his hip.

"Why are you being such a baby? This isn't even about you, we're old friends." She expressed, he shook his head.

"Go be friends with him then but I can't be around him knowing that he hurt you like that" he held up his hands and started to walk away.

"You're being a child!" She yelled as he left. He put up his middle finger as he left and she rolled her eyes once again.

Tammy saw them arguing and made sure no one else did. She turned up the music, turned people's heads away and distracted Evan so he couldn't see it. She watched Kat walk towards them angrily so Tammy got her a shot. She took it and downed it quickly.

"You okay?" She asked, she nodded and downed another shot.

Matty wandered outside and lit a cigarette, pissed off. He pulled his hair out of his face and tied it up quickly so he didn't accidentally singe his beautiful curls.

"Hey, Matty right?" A voice asked. He pulled the cigarette out his mouth and made eye contact with Kat's ex.

"Fuck off." He replied. Evan raised his eyebrows.

"Wow, you're nice." He laughed, Matty nodded.

"You cheated on my girlfriend. I'm not going to be nice." He let him know. Evan put his hands in his pockets and nodded.

"She told you." He sighed.

"I'm her boyfriend. Of course she told me." He rolled his eyes, thinking nothing of this man.

"Yeah you guys seem pretty in love." He laughed. Matty glared at him.

"At least I wouldn't cheat on her" he pointed out. Evan laughed.

"Guilty. I made a mistake there didn't I?" He scratched his head. Matty squinted his eyes.

"Careful." He put the cigarette back in his mouth. Evan pulled a face.

"Nasty habit." He commented. Matty despised this man.

"I'm going back inside." He couldn't stand to be near him.

As soon as he walked in, he saw Kat and knew she was drunk. He rolled his eyes and made his way to the bar, where he was attacked by Tammy.

"Why are you being a dickhead?" She asked

"Can I at least have a drink first before you tell me why I'm such a bad person?" He wondered, she rolled her eyes and shook her head.

"I hate him as much as you do, trust me." Matty's eyebrows raised. "He cheated on my best friend, I'm not exactly going to welcome him with open arms." She sipped her drink.

"So why are you calling me a dickhead?" He asked, she shrugged.

"Because, Kat really needs a win against him. The ultimate revenge is to rise above him but he thinks that she has no job and a shitty boyfriend." She pointed out. He nodded.

"I get you." He did and he wanted nothing more than to shove Kat's happy life down Evan's throat.

He made his way over to his extremely drunk girlfriend, who was spinning around Ross and squealing tremendously.

"Hey baby." He scooped her up in his arms. She squealed, her pupils wide.

"Aren't you mad at me?" She giggled, he pressed his lips to hers.

"Never." He whispered her ear. She wrapped her arms around his neck and grinned to him. His eyes flickered to the other side of the room where Evan was watching.
