George and Matty had been sat in the studio for the whole day, mixing and re-recording a few songs for the record label. Neither of them had spoken about Kat or Angie or any other girl for that matter. It was a drama free zone. Well it was until:

"How many songs have you written about Alice?" George wondered as he played around with Matty's vocals. Matty was chewing the end of his pencil as he thought about it.

"A lot." He answered, George smirked and turned his head to him.

"How many of them are actually about Kat?" He followed, Matty's eyes widened and then flickered all over the room. "Come on" he pushed.

"Most. She's American is purely about Alice but i'd say it's safe to say that the rest have a bit of Kat in them." He answered honestly, George bit his lip. "I wrote one the other day, just finished it. It's purely about Kat." He confessed, George's eyebrows raised.

"Can I hear it?" He asked, Matty stayed silent. "Go in there, and sing it." It came out more as a demand but he needed to hear it. Matty was only honest when he was singing. He did as he was told, grabbing a guitar on his way.

"Twist around the lounge
Sun drowns the house
Stick another pill in my head and go to bed
We're not doing it again so leave it
No, I didn't even see you when I liked you
No, Now I ain't got no time
Girl I wanna see you undo it
I wanna see you but you're not mine
Bombs have run out
Call round the town
I could hear you giving her head she said
You think we're doing it again keep dreaming
No, I didn't even see you when I liked you
No, Now I ain't got no time
Girl I wanna see you undo it
I wanna see you but you're not mine"

Matty stepped back, making eye contact with George. He put the guitar down and rubbed his face harshly as George just watched from behind the table.

"Matty. Jesus." He shook his head, the words he had sung couldn't of been truer.

"Let's sort out the set list." He shrugged it off but George just shook his head and ignored his suggestion.

"Write it out. I've got an idea." He demanded. Matty knew not to mess with him when he had an idea so he did as he was told. He wrote out the lyrics and hummed the tune into the mic for George.

George played around with some mixes he had already created, trying to find one or alter one to fix it together. He finally figured out a basic skeleton of what he thought would sound good and turned around to find Matty passed out on the sofa. He rolled his eyes and continued to play around with it.

Suddenly, his phone started to ring with an unknown number blaring on the screen. George's eyebrows raised as he picked it up.

"Hello?" He started.

"George?" A clear American accent asked, George looked over at a sleeping Matty and sighed.

"Yeah, Alice?" He confirmed.

"Yeah, sorry to call you like this." Her voice was sad and sheepish. George knew that she would want to talk to Matty. He also knew that Matty was unfathomably in love with someone else.

"No, it's fine. What's up?" He asked, leaning back in his chair.

"I'm just worried about Matty. Is he okay?" She asked, George's heart ached for what she had just said. She still cared so much even when he had fucked her over.

"Yeah. We're in the studio, sorting the out. I would pass you over but he's asleep." He explained, she seemed to sigh a breath of relief.

"Okay. Good. Is that party still on tomorrow night?" She asked, George had forgotten about the house party they had all been invited to. It seemed like such a long time ago that they planned on going.

"Yeah, you're coming right?" He asked, insinuating that he wanted her to come.

"Yeah, I'll call Matty later to make sure he still wants me to come." She sounded defeated.

"I thought you were the one mad at him? That's what he seems to think." George knew he shouldn't have asked but he couldn't help it. He thought that maybe Matty wasn't telling him the truth in what happened after they got in the car.

"Yeah I was. I've been trying to call him though, talk it through but he hasn't replied to anything." She answered, George spun around in his chair to face his peaceful friend.

"Oh. I'll talk to him. Call him tonight and he'll answer. He needs to listen to you at least." He was fully team Kat but still, he didn't think Alice was a complete prick and he wasn't a complete prick so it was only fair that they talk it out. He knew who Matty was going to choose in the long haul anyway.

"Okay. Thanks George." She seemed happier so he hung up and threw a cushion at Matty's sleeping head.

"What." Matty moaned.

"Call your girlfriend, tell her to come to the party tomorrow and sort yourself out." He demanded, Matty looked at him in pure confusion. "Now!" He yelled, Matty put his hands up in defence and sat up straight.

"Have you spoken to Kat today?" He asked, rubbing his eyes.

"No. Why?" He wondered, Matty shrugged.

"No reason." He replied, pulling out his phone and walking out of the room. George rolled his eyes and started writing out the list of songs they had for the album.

He started to play around and mix some more stuff for the album, playing around with Matty's vocals a little bit just for fun. Matty came back not long after.

"So?" He asked, all he got was a shrug.

"She's coming tomorrow." He concluded. "No big deal." He sighed. "What have we got so far?" He moved on.

"Right, so, I'm thinking:
1. The 1975
2. The City
3. M.O.N.E.Y
4. Chocolate
5. Sex
6. Talk!
7. An Encounter
8. Heart Out
9. Settle Down
10. Robbers
11. Girls
12. She's American
13. She Way Out
14. Menswear
15. Pressure
16. Is there somebody who can watch you" George read out. "At least that's what I assume you wanted from the meeting last week." Matty squinted his eyes.

"Uh, yeah. Sounds good." He nodded, George stared at it.

"You sure you want she's American on there?" He asked awkwardly, Matty raised his eyebrows.

"Why wouldn't I?" He asked.

"I dunno, it's a tad insulting to Americans; one of them being your girlfriend who you not longer love" he pointed out, quite harshly. Matty's eyes widened.

"Jesus, don't tip toe around it G." The sarcasm dripped from his voice as George shrugged.

"Just saying. Alice will know and it will cause more issues." He pointed out. "Unless that's what you want." He squinted his eyes suspiciously. Matty started to get angry.

"Why can't you can't let me figure my own shit out?" He growled. George shrugged, not one bit intimidated by his anger.

"Maybe because you simply aren't. You're just avoiding it completely." He slapped him with the truth. Matty shook his head and sat back on the sofa.

"Have you put the audio files in order on the drive?" He asked, George looked at his computer.

"Yeah, Hann and Ross good with the order?" He asked nonchalantly. Matty nodded.

"Yeah they agreed in the meeting. We should probably get this back to the label soon." He agreed.

"We have all these extra songs like You and So Far it's alright. Ooh, fallingforyou is a good one. I feel like we should do something with them." He looked at all the extra song demos he had compiled.

"Uh, we can talk to Jamie about it in the meeting. I kinda wanna put out antichrist as well." He leant over George's shoulder to look at the listings.

Anyone looking from the outside, may have been baffled by the relationship shift between the two boys. But, it was Matty and George. They could have a full on argument but if they had to get something done, they were getting it done. Matty could have all the girl problems in the world but if he had to record something with George, he would always be there.

George didn't mind Matty's erratic behaviour. It never got in the way of the work, if anything it fired up his passion and made him work harder. Despite the constant napping, they made a good team.

"Is Kat coming tomorrow?" Matty asked when they had sent the listing to Jamie, requesting a meeting.

"Yes." George answered hesitantly, Matty nodded slowly.

"I think I've ruined my chances with her you know?" He said sadly. George bit his lip, knowing he couldn't say anything about anything Kat had spoken to him about.

"Play her Undo." He suggested, Matty snorted.

"I'd like you to undo that thought" he joked, George rolled his eyes.

"Funny one. Call Ross, I need some bass line ideas." He clicked his fingers and Matty was dialling the number.
