Oh shit here we go
——————————
Kat was getting tired, tired of watching Matty and Alice get off, tired of not having anyone want her and tired of this fucking camping trip.

Everyone was sat round the campfire, roasting marshmallows. She stared down at her zoot, watching Matty and Alice in her peripheral. Suddenly, she felt sad, like extremely sad. It was as if all her anger and frustration had disintegrated and what was left was all her sadness.

It was as if Matty could sense it, he was grinning at Alice when he felt something tell him to look at Kat. Alice started kissing his neck as he watched her, watched her stare at the floor with a look of devastation.

"Matty, what's wrong?" Alice whispered to him, her breath causing goosebumps on his skin. He turned his head, trying his best to tell himself that he Kat was fine and didn't need him.

"Nothing, just tired." He smiled, giving her a quick kiss. He didn't know how much Alice loved him, he had an idea but everyday she surprised him with something that made it seem much more. He didn't know if he could ever love someone that much and that scared him. They had been good for the past few weeks, it scared him slightly.

George took a seat on the log next to Kat, resting his head on her shoulder. Kat rested hers on his head and sighed.

"They say being single is meant to be fun. I've never seen the appeal for relationships and here I am wishing someone would come and put their arm around me and tell me they love me." She vented to him, George put his arm around her and smiled.

"I love you Kat." He grinned, both of them knowing he meant it platonically.

"Stop getting my hopes up you tree." She joked, nudging him. He chuckled but shrugged nonetheless.

Matty watched the exchange between George and Kat as Alice spoke to him about something. He wasn't on his game tonight, usually he could control where his eyes linger but it seems as if the weed had gone straight to them.

"Matty, baby, you should go to sleep. You're exhausted." Alice said to him, he didn't say anything, just nodded and pulled her with him across the camp.

Kat watched the couple, making eye contact with them both at some point. George pushed her face away from them which made her laugh.

Matty heard her laugh, his heart hurt slightly which made him feel all kind of things he hadn't felt in a while. It was confusing to say the least.

Kat looked up to the sky, her heart heavy, her eyes watering and took a deep breath. The weed was hitting her in a bad way tonight. George gave her a light kiss on the cheek before making his way into his tent. That's when she realised everyone was going to bed, she wasn't ready for that.

Matty couldn't sleep, he could see her silhouette through his tent. He looked at his sleeping girlfriend and wondered how long he had been sleepless for. She looked so beautiful when she slept but he told her now enough for her to know it.

When he watched the silhouette stand up, stopping for a second before walking in the wrong direction. He couldn't help himself, he had ignored the voice talking to him all night and now he knew he needed to listen. He made sure to leave the tent quietly before following Kat into the woods.

It wasn't until he heard her gasp and wipe her face did he realise she was crying. It suddenly dawned on him that maybe he shouldn't have followed her.

"Kat?" He asked, causing her to jump out of her skin. She didn't answer, just stared at him. "What's wrong?" His heart hurt even more now. He ran to her, wanting to protect her from whatever was hurting her.

"Get away from me" She slurred, he could smell the alcohol she had been sat drinking by herself.

"What's happened?" He asked, trying to reach for her but she ducked his every advance.

"I don't know but I know it's you" She mumbled, he didn't understand. He watched as she got out a cigarette and fumbled to light it.

"Me? What did I do?" He was beyond confused, his best friend was staring at him as if he had murdered her first born.

"I don't know, I just know whenever I look at you it's like you've hurt me which makes me want to hurt you." She confessed, he stared at her.

"I don't understand." She mumbled something under her breath which he didn't understand. "What?" He asked.

"I think I'm in love with you." She yelled straight at him.

There they were. The words he had been dying for her to say all those months ago and now they were coming way too late. His heart snapped, straight into two and a sudden anger jolt through his veins.

"Fuck!" He yelled, kicking some leaves. "No no no no no no no no no" He mumbled over and over, she started to cry which made him want to cry.

"I'm sorry." She whimpered. He needed to punch something but the only person he wanted to punch was himself.

"But, I'm with Alice." He said quietly, she nodded.

"I know. I know that and I respect that." She was crying a lot now for many different reasons.

"So why would you tell me this?" He growled at her.

"Because I had to! I need you to know" She shouted back at him.

"Fuck, Kat." He pulled at his hair, "do you know how late you are? Do you realise that six months ago I would've cried of relief if you told me that? You're so fucking late" he cried. They stood in front of each other for a while, the only noise coming from them both crying.

"What does she have that I don't? Why did you pick her?" She asked, Matty was offended by this question.

"I didn't pick her, Kat. I fell in love with her." His words stabbed her in her heart as she realised she really was too late. Kat let out a cry of pain and turned away from him.

"That's not love, Matty. You just like her because you know she'll always like you more than you like her." She spat harshly, Matty's eyes widened. "And don't act as if I'm not telling the truth. I know you better than you know yourself." She added.

"Don't make me choose...I'll pick her." He said to the floor so she knew he was lying. It still hurt though.

"Why? What is it about her?" She sobbed, sitting on the floor and pulling her hair out. Matty watched her have a mental breakdown and sighed, preparing himself to tell her the truth.

"I wanted you so bad, Kat. I would've done anything to get you to look at me like the way I looked at you. Then I met Alice. She was everything you were, except she wanted me."

Kat looked up at him, hearing the words she really didn't want him to say. She let him sit next to her and put an arm around her for a brief second before pushing him off her.

"So, what you are saying is that back all those months ago when I thought you only wanted me for sex, you actually wanted me?" She asked, his eyebrows raised.

"You thought I only wanted you for sex?" He asked, she put her face in her hands.

"Fuck. My. Life." She muttered, he let out a deep breath.

"I wanted you so badly. You were and kinda still are the best sex I've ever had, you knew that but you always pushed me away." She practically growled as he spoke, standing up.

"Because you never spoke to me! You would see me one minute and try and have sex with me the next. Sorry for not assuming you wanted me for more than that!" She yelled at him. He was shocked at her revival and for her agression as she pushed his chest. "I pushed you away" shove "because" shove "I wanted more." big shove. He grabbed her hands and held her close to him.

He had a lot of think about in the short space of time. This girl, crying in front of him, the best he'd ever had, his best friend, she wanted him, she actually wanted him. The girl laying in his tent, was good to him, gave him good sex and understood him. On paper it was a no brainer, so why couldn't he make the decision?

"Kitty." He whimpered, "What are you doing to me?" His eyes filled with tears. "You know I want you. I have always wanted you." He gripped her small hands as he spoke, she was trying to pull away but he wanted her to know these things. "But sometimes it takes a bit more than just you." He spoke through the tears. She pushed him as hard as she could before sprinting towards the camp. Matty ran after her. "What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm going home." She confessed, making her way to her and George's tent to retrieve his keys.

"No! You're drunk. You can't drive." He tried to grab her but she pushed him hard in the chest.

"Leave me alone!" She yelled, he grabbed her hands and 'shh'ed her.

"Stop." He spoke frustratingly.

"What's going on?" Alice's voice came from behind. Kat wiped her tears as Matty dropped his hands from hers.

"I'm going home." Kat told her, Alice frowned while Matty stood frozen.

"Why? We were having so much fun-" she walked towards them.

"Fuck off Alice. Just let me go home" Kat snapped. Matty gasped, his eyes glazing with anger.

"Kat!" He scolded while Alice stood in shock.

"Kat?" George's voice entered the conversation as he climbed out of the tent. Kat's eyes filled with tears as everyone stared at her.

"George, I'm going home. Can I take your car?" She asked, wiping her tears.

"Kat, let me drive you." Matty said quietly, Alice was still in shock.

"Matty." She warned him from behind.

"It's fine Alice. She's just had too much to drink." He said, not taking his eyes away from Kat.

"I'll take her." George offered. Kat shook her head violently.

"I want to go alone." She announced, Alice pulled Matty's arm away from Kat.

"She might have a problem, Matty. Let George drive her." Alice said quietly but everyone still heard. George let out a disappointed sigh while Kat's blood boiled.

"Are you suggesting I'm a fucking alcoholic?" She screamed at the top of her lungs in pure anger.

"Kat, let's go." George grabbed her but Kat resisted. Alice looked terrified and Matty was not about to defend her; she made the wrong call there.

"You want me to talk about alcoholism? You got another thing coming! You don't even know the half of it" Matty's eyes widened as he worried she was about to tell Alice all of his secrets but George lifted her over his shoulder and carried her out of the camp.

"Can you believe her?" Alice asked, Matty just watched the two figured walk away.

"I'm gonna sleep in George's tent tonight." He decided, leaving Alice by herself in the middle of the camp.
