"So Alice, when you go home is it like a culture shock?" Kat asked, walking into the kitchen. Alice was making dinner for everyone, still unaware that her boyfriend had been close to a relapse earlier.

"Yeah, I get shocked by their accents. They tell me I sound foreign" She laughed and Kat joined in.

"Well I'm glad you're back." She smiled, well aware that she was being a bit snakey towards her but she liked Alice and would prefer if she was with Matty.

"Thanks Kat, me too. I just adore it here!" She started chopping stuff up, Kat had no idea what she was making but it smelled good. "I heard you went to the wedding with Matty and George. How was that?" She asked. Kat's heart dropped.

"Uh, uneventful if anything." She shrugged, Alice raised her eyebrows.

"Really? I thought you and Matty would've gotten up to trouble." She laughed, Kat tried to not freak out. She was still oblivious and she had to remind herself about that.

"Well, of course we got completely shit faced and Matty tried to make a speech about how he didn't like the bride and then I found him under a table but other than that." She confessed, Alice's eyes widened but then she burst out laughing.

"That boy, honestly. He's a nightmare." She spoke as if she was his mum. Kat laughed with her.

"Oh and I know you're meeting his family on Christmas Eve but don't worry, I met his mum and she's lovely." She said, Alice's mouth went into a line and she nodded. "She asked about you, I bigged you up so you're all ready to go." She gave her a thumbs up but Alice didn't look ecstatic.

"Thanks." She replied quickly before turning around to throw the chopped things into a pot. "Kat, can I talk to you about him?" She asked. Kat squinted her eyes.

"Of course. That's what friends are for." She smiled, Alice didn't seem as quite convinced but continued anyway.

"I don't know, I've just been so worried about him lately." She sighed, Kat frowned.

"Why?" She asked, Alice stirred the pot and stared into space as Kat watched her.

"He's looks like shit whenever I see him. Obviously, he's gorgeous but he always looks so tired and he won't tell me why." She explained. Kat suddenly became worried that Alice was going to find out about his substance issues but then she added, "I'm scared that he's getting bored of me." and she realised that she was still oblivious.

"Look Alice, Matty doesn't do relationships and the fact that you've managed to make him want one is a huge thing. If he was getting bored, he would let you know." She almost laughed but decided to keep it serious. Alice just nodded before opening her mouth to speak again. Ross and George walked in just as she said

"But-"

"Smells fucking delicious." George howled, Ross let out a moan. Kat laughed at them and went to hug Ross just because she could.

"Thanks guys." Alice smiled, Kat held one arm around Ross and tried to send a message to George but ended up just wiggling her eyebrows which made them both laugh.

"Where's Tammy, Ross?" Kat asked, still attached to him. He broke out into a grin.

"She'll be here later, she's at a job interview." He explained, Kat squealed loudly and jumped onto Ross again.

"No fucking way! Ross, I could fucking kiss you!" She burst, Ross laughed.

"What's stopping you?" He shamelessly flirted, knowing she wouldn't think anything of it.

"Oi." Two voices said, Kat looked past Ross to see George and now, Matty, who had just walked in. She giggled and watched Alice's face grow confused.

"Matty, babe, could you set the table?" She asked, everyone looked at Matty, who's masculinity was fading as he did as he was told.

"We'll get out of your hair, Al." Kat said, pushing Ross out of the door and grabbing George on the way. George grabbed a bottle of wine as he was being dragged.

Matty started to collect the knives and forks for everyone when Alice slapped his bum, he smirked and turned around.

"I love your jeans. I hardly see you in blue jeans." Matty looked down at the jeans that Kat had bought him and smiled.

"Hmm, thanks love." He wrapped his free arm around her and kissed her hard, forcing his feelings into her. She giggled into the kiss and pushed him away.

Since he still had the knives and forks in his hand as she pushed him away, one of the knives grazed her hand and opened it up so that all the blood could gush out from her.

"Christ, Alice." He pointed it out, letting all the cutlery fall to the floor as he panicked.

"Language, Healy." She cursed, not seeming that bothered that she had a deep cut on her hand.

"Kat! Help!" He yelled, not knowing what to do. Alice's eyes fell.

"Matty, we can sort this out on our own." She scowled at him as Kat walked in, swigging a bottle of wine.

"Shit. That's a lot of blood, you okay?" She asked nonchalantly, Matty almost smiled at her reaction but knew that Alice would get mad.

"Can you go and get a flannel or something?" He asked, she nodded and left the room again. "Would you have been like that if I called George?" He hissed at her, Alice's expression turned sheepish as she knew her jealousy had been caught out.

"Fuck you." She mumbled, looking down at her hand. He smiled and kissed her head as Kat came back in with a flannel.

"Right Healy, What have you done? Nothing. Move out the way." Kat shoved him and placed the flannel over Alice's hand. "Go and set the table." She hip bumped him, he let out a giggle and picked up the knives and forks again.

"Men" she looked up to the sky. Alice let out a small smile and turned her head to Matty as Kat cleaned her wound.

"I think he's cheating on me." She whispered, Kat looked up at her in shock. She didn't know what to do or say so she kept bandaging him.

"Why would you say that?" She hissed, more accusatory than compassionate.

"Because, he seems distant and...I don't know maybe I'm just paranoid." She shook her head dismissively.

"I know him. He's committed to you. He's not about to throw that away." She said to her hand as she finished bandaging it since she wasn't sure what she was saying was right.

Matty walked up to the whispering girls with a huge grin on his face, they snapped their heads to him.

"I've set the table." He grinned, Alice smiled as she pulled her hand away from Kat.

"I've fixed your girlfriend." Kat responded and walked away from them both and into the other room.

She collapsed along the sofa, covering George and Ross' laps. Letting out a huge sigh, she stared at the ceiling.

"Alice hates me" she announced, George let out a laugh.

"Fuck off, no she doesn't." He brushed off easily. Kat stayed silent for a second, wondering where all these insecurities had come from.

"She does. I'm a girl, I know when another girl is being fake." She complained, George smacked her on the forehead.

"Stop being stupid. If you weren't around, who would she ask for advice about Matty?" He asked, she shrugged and made eye contact wit Ross as if to ask for his opinion but he just shrugged.

Kat scoffed in annoyance and leapt up off the sofa, she jogged up the stairs to go to the toilet but ended up bumping into Matty.

"Kitty Kat." He grinned, stepping out of the toilet.

"Matthew." She went to push past him but he grabbed her shoulders and moved her back to him.

"What have you been saying to Alice? She keeps telling me all the things she likes about me and how much she loves being in a relationship" he squinted his eyes, Kat almost laughed at how square this girl could be.

"She thinks you're cheating on her." She shrugged and pushed past him to get to the toilet. He just followed her. "Matty! No!" She cursed, trying to push him out.

"I don't like you two having little chats amongst yourselves." He almost looked bitter towards her. Kat raised her eyebrows.

"Why? We're girls, chat is what we do." She conformed to her own social norm in one sentence.

"You're not like other girls, Kat. You don't get coffee and gossip with all your girlfriends. So why do you talk to mine?" He wondered. Kat couldn't believe how stupid he was being.

"You're my best friend, Matty. I want to be friends with your girlfriend otherwise what's the point?" She replied, still trying to push him out of the bathroom. He let her push him, bus not before he'd leant down and kissed her face anywhere he could get. Kat growled and slammed the door.
