ONCE AGAIN THIS ISN'T AN ENDING! JUST A CHAPTER WITH TWO DIFFERENT OUTCOMES

Gerald POV

I sobbed still sitting on the floor. What had I done to deserve her walking out. I wasn't just gonna let her go. Quickly I ran up stairs and grabbed my jacket, zipping it up before joining Ellie downstairs.

"We gotta go find her. You still got that find my iPhone app?" Ellie nodded slowly before digging her phone out of her pocket. I grabbed mine off the sofa and shoved it in my pocket hearing the sound of paper crinkle. Carefully I reached back into my pocket and pulled out the piece of paper.

Ger,

Hold onto that I love you. I'm protecting you. Love always, Deee!

"Ellie..." I handed her the note as a confused looked spread across her face before her phone pinged. Carefully I took it from Ellie's hand and shook my head. You wouldn't go there. I knew that place so well. Melissa she was cold as ice in my arms. I tried so hard to save her. "That's my old town...."

"Let's go Gerald."

"Why would she go there? We both swore that place was off limits. We never went back. It scared Danny to even go near that place. Let's go, call mom and Grady. Tell them to meet us there." She nodded as I grabbed the keys to the SUV. I couldn't forget ever how to get to that place yet we never made it there.

"She's leaving... They're going towards San Francisco downtown...." It was hard to drive in the snow, yet as we got closer to the heart of the city there were police and fire trucks. Ellie started crying as she showed me her phone and I looked up. This Cadillac was in pieces and flipped on its roof. There was a fireman holding a crying baby. I parked the car and sprinted over, past the police and to the fireman.

"That's my son! Where is my wife! Where is she! Danny!" My heart sunk as I saw my father's corpse being dragged out. Then there she was. Lips blue as they kept shocking her in that ambulance. She looked like Melissa on that morning I found her. " Danny! Danny baby... No... No! You can't fucking take her!"

"Ger!" I felt Ellie's arms wrap around me, she was holding Kevin. Not a scratch on him. Danny had fastened him in knowing she was going to do just this. Then a beeping noise.

"We got her! Let's get her stable! Fluids and blankets!" I sprinted to the ambluance, my mind running wild with the thoughts if she hadn't waken up just then. The emt let me in and she looked at me, her lips still slightly blue and skin pale.

" Baby!" My eyes filled with tears as I took hee hand and covered it in kisses. "O Danny..."

"Ed... Killed.... Mel..."

"Baby he's dead... And Kevin is okay..."

"I saw... Mel.... I hugged her... But she.... She pushed me back..." They put an oxygen mask over her face and gave me a nod.

"Sir would you like to ride along?" I shook my head and looked to Ellie, but now my mother was here and I waved her towards me.

"No, my mom is coming, I can't let my son out of my sight." I kissed her forehead and flashed a smile.

"I love you Deeee"

"Love you.... Too.... Ger." I sprinted out of the ambulance and took Kevin from Ellie's arms. Grady got back into his SUV as Ellie drove me and Kevin. I couldn't take my eyes off the bundle of joy in my arms. He was okay and she was okay that was all that mattered in this moment. I could have lost her for good. Never gotten to walk down the aisle or call her Mrs. Gillum. It was a real fear that would have become all too real.

"He's dead... Thank God...." I mumbled before pressing a kiss to Kevin's forehead. "You're safe thanks to your mama. She's amazing and you need to know that..."

" Gerald... May be you should go home with Kevin, I'll drop you off and I'll go check if Danny. The baby can't be in the hospital there are too many germs." I shrugged slightly, Ellie obviously knew better than I when it came to babys. It felt like seconds later that we pulled up to the house. I got out with Kevin in my arms and wandered inside. The news was replaying me at the scene of her accident. We were the center of attention. Her least favourite spot. Then came the questions of why she was with my father in the car. I clicked off the t.v. And looked down to Kevin with a slight smile on my lips.

"Your mom... She's better than me and I'm only telling you this because we almost lost her today. If you didn't have her I... Well you obviously wouldn't have been born. Yet..." I sighed. I didn't really know why I was talking to a baby. "Yet... She put up with me little dude... I will teach you how to treat your mother like a queen because she deserves that and so much more. She's our world and you might not understand that yet, but it's the truth. We would be hungry and lost without her." Kev just stared at me with his glossy eyes, hanging onto my finger tips and trying to chew on them. "I've done a lot of bad things to your mommy... I've cheated on her... I've lied to her... Broken her heart.... Yet she stays and I can't thank her enough. If she didn't stay I wouldn't have ever met you..." I watched his eyes get heavy, his breathing slow down and mouth open as he began to sleep. "Night little one..." Carefully I carried him to his crib and sat on the floor, digging in my pocket then reading the note again. The pieces were slowly coming together. Yet what would Danny be able to tell me when she wakes up.
