I got up the next morning when Jacob lifted my legs off his lap,

"Sorry, I need to get my stuff from home," he said,

"What's the time?" I slurred, feeling my eyes struggle as I looked at him.

"6:30," he said,

I briefly heard him say something before my eyes fell back shut.

I got up for the second time a little while later, when my neck started to hurt from the odd position it was forced into during the night.

I lifted my head off the hand of the couch, sitting up, and slowly waking up.

I rubbed my eyes, looking around to see that everyone other than Scarlett had left. She was sprawled across the other arm of the couch, her mouth wide open and drooling onto her arm.

I let out a small laugh, and shook her shoulder, "Scarlett, wake up,"

"Mnm," she mumbled, moving her head away.

After struggling for exactly 17 minutes, I managed to wake her up, and went into to my room to shower.

I put on a graphic tee with my jeans, tied my long brown hair in a sloppy bun, and held me suitcase next to me as I stood in front of the mirror. I was really doing this, I was really going back to that hell hole.

I sighed, and walked out of my room, closing the door behind me.

I really hated staying in the dorms, but my mother insisted very much that I stay in the dorms, so I guess I didn't have much of a choice
I wasn't capable of living alone anyway, I didn't know the first thing about cooking.

I went down stairs and waited for Scarlett as she did hair.

"Jones, I'm ready," she called, as I slouched on the couch, scrolling through my phone aimlessly.

We headed out the door, and began driving to school.

"I know you don't want to go back, but...at least we get to be roommates this year!" Scarlett chirped enthusiastically.

"Yeah yeah, how do you think I'm here driving to school early on the first day." I said, and she chuckled.

The drive was extremely fast, or at least I felt that way considering how much I was dreading going back there.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked, moments after I pulled over in the parking lot.

"Yeah," I sighed.

The last time I was here, I was...well....different to say the least.

I don't know why I was so nervous to go back, but it was fascinating that Scarlet could tell. She was really good at that...you know? Being a good friend... Certainly better than me, but I guess I was working on that.

I got out of the car, slamming the door behind me.

Classes started today at 10:30 instead of 8, giving us time to settle or whatever.

Pulling my suitcase behind me, I walked through the familiar campus, feeling uneasy as I recognized the buildings and walls around me.

The school was crowded with parents dropping their kids off, and students meeting each other after the seemingly long summer break, for me though, it felt like it couldn't have been more than a few weeks.

We made our way to the dorms as I tried my very best to avoid making eye contact with anyone I recognized, inevitably meeting a few people that Scarlett knew.

I walked straight to the room, while Scarlet stopped on the way talking to people she hadn't seen over the summer.

I turned the key in the lock, pushing the door wide as it creaked open.

I sighed looking around the empty room. There was nothing by two empty beds, and two desks. The mirror and the couch were covered with white cloths. I placed my suitcase at the entrance, and walked to my desk, finding a small dust covered polaroid picture of my father and me.

I picked it up feeling my head clutter with thoughts.

I was afraid that if something went wrong in my life, I would go back to living like I used to before summer.

"Jones, let's go eat? Levi's waiting outside," Scarlett said, from behind me, leaving her suitcase at the entrance of the room.

"Yeah," I smiled, walking towards the door.

She locked her arm in mine, and we walked out of the building, looking around for Levi, who was busy talking to one of the Juniors.

"Levi!" Scarlett yelled impatiently.

He turned around, glaring at her.
He turned back to face the petite girl, and moments later, he turned back, walking towards us, with a big smile planted on his face.

We walked to the cafeteria, as Levi spoke about the girl he was talking to. Apparently his childhood neighbour or something.

It had been about 20 minutes since we reached school, and he had spoken to half of the new kids.

We headed for breakfast in the huge, cafeteria, crowded with students trying to greet each other, while also trying to make to to class early.

Ryan met us in the queue, and gave Scarlett a kiss as we waited in line.

The anxiousness of being here seemed to slowly die down, but it went unnoticed by me.

We took our food and found a table. I pulled out my phone, looking for a text from my mom, she said she'll call in a couple days.

"Did y'all see your timetables? I have chemistry with Mr.Davis." Levi chuckled.

"What? Isn't he the one that..." I stared

"That passed out in class last year, yes," Ryan said, taking a bit of chocolate.

"They emailed us our timetables?" I asked, and got an enthusiastic nod from Levi.

I pulled my phone out, looking for the email, when Levi yelled,

"Holy shit! AIDEN!" he exclaimed jumped out of his seat, giving me a minor heart attack.

How he always managed to have so much energy was beyond me.

"What? Oh my god!" Scarlett squealed, as she and Ryan got up from their seats as well.

"What?" I mumbled, turning around d to see what was going on.

I looked behind me to see Scarlett hugging the life out of a tall tan guy, whose face was being covered by Scarlett fat locks of hair. He chuckled stumbling back words. Who?

I saw Jacob flash me a smile from behind the unfamiliar guy, and he tapped me on the head before plopping in his chair opposite me.

"Who- I mouthed, looking back at my phone,

"What the fuck," I yelled, as I kid you not my heart fucking stopped beating.

I looked closely at my timetable... and where I expected to see art, I saw AP Calculus - Mrs. Holler, printed in bold, block letters.

"Whats wrong?" Jake asked,

"Oh my god, it says I have AP Calculus," I mumbled, getting up from my seat.

"Huh?"

"Yeah, I'm going to go to the main office...." I said, distracted by the huge mistake on my timetable.

Saying I sucked at Math was an understatement. How I manged to scrape through and pass last year is interesting enough to be on fucking buzzfeed unsolved....unsolved like more than half the sums on my final paper of Junior year.

Once I reached the main office, I saw a a couple people talking to the woman at the front desk, and waited in line for my turn, starring at my phone as if it would change if I looked at it long enough.

"Next! I don't have all day!" She yelled.

I snapped back to my whole AP Calculus situation, and walked up to the front desk.

"Name," the receptionist said...demanded rather.

"Hayley Jones,"

"What's your problem Ms.Jones?"

"Uh...I just looked at my timetable...it says I have AP Calculus with Mrs.Holler...I however didn't apply for that subject. I think there's been a mistake."

She finally took her eyes off her computer, and stared at me, through the top of her glasses.

"That's no mistake dear, please talk to Mr.Thomas."

"What,"

"I am not responsible for any changes on your timetable. Please speak to Mr. Thomas, I belive you have his class now anyway."

"But I-

The bell cut me off, and I was rushed to my first class of the year.

I sighed. This was going to be one long year.
