Apples POV
Dark

                                 Dark

All I see is darkness.  Surrounding me are thin fabric walls of black, that wrinkle and shake with each step. Occasionally a soft hand will hold me, it's warm and gentle. He will take me out of his pocket when no one is near. He is kind to me and protects me. I hear shouting a lot, but it all I sounds muffled to me. This boy has told me that he loves me, but our love is forbidden. What would dad think? Oh wait, he got made into applesauce last season. I guess there's nothing stopping us then. He really is a magnificent boy, he saved me from a terrible fate. I remember the fear coursing through me while on the sweets trolley, and it got even worse when he picked me up and bought me. I thought he would eat me, but he didn't. He just stared at me like I was something precious. No one had ever looked at me that way before. The farmer didn't even give me a second glance, just tossed me into a basket. The truck driver just placed all of the baskets into the back of the truck and took us to hogwarts. We sat there for a few days until this lady came in, washed us, and then separated us into two piles. The other pile was dipped into pots of caramels and chocolates while we just sat there and watched. It was awful, watching them suffocate like that.
I remember back when I was but a little sprout. It was a sunny September day and the farmer started walking around with a woven basket. I was confused, as since I had just started growing I'd never seen it before. And then the most terrible thing happened. The farmer reached out to Mr. David, the crisp Granny Smith two trees down. He plucked him off the stem and put him in the basket! He was one of the oldest among us. The farmer was always so nice to us! I just couldn't understand why he would do something like that. He kept doing it. Apple after Apple, all the elderly were getting plucked off the branches. Mr. Frank, Mrs. Arnold, one after the other. And then I remember my grandma was right above me. The farmer turned and took a few steps over to our tree. He started from the bottom and started working his way up. He was obviously too short to reach to the top of the tree, I suspected he would just come back with a ladder later. He stood on his toes, reached up, and stole my grandparents from my life forever.
He had come back later with a ladder, to get the rest of the adults in our section of the orchard. One by one we watched the apples getting torn from there families, the most horrific thing we've ever seen! Who knew what was going to happen to them? That night I don't think anyone slept. It was cold and dark and we didn't have our elders to protect and comfort us. The next day him, his wife, and his son came outside to have a picnic and what I saw traumatized me forever. They had a light brown liquid in a jar that I soon realized was applesauce. I would never forgive the farmer and that was that.
After the traumatic events of my childhood, I never thought it would get better. Year by year, each generation was stolen until eventually me. And when I was put in that truck, I had lost all hope. But Draco saved me. He treats me like a princess, and I think I might be in love.
