The school week flew by and you were so busy with training, both with the team and then with Sakusa at the gym that you completely forgot about the joint training thing Atsumu told you about. You yelped in surprise when he jumpscared you in the halls before tackling him to the ground expertly.
"Y/n it's me" he wheezed and you finally realised. "Oh it's just you Atsumu" you said, releasing your grip.

"Don't 'oh it's just you' me. Ya just tackled me to the ground in front of everyone" he whined. You looked around to see lots of people staring. "Oh".

Atsumu stuck around you the entire break time, chatting about whatever came to mind though you weren't really paying attention. Atsumu noticed you looking around. "He's practicing with Aran" he said. Your eyes widened and you looked down, slightly flustered. "I wasn't looking for Omi" you mumbled. "How'd you know who I was talking about then?" he chuckled.

You were caught. "Fine, maybe I was" you admit, still slightly embarrassed. Atsumu stretched, letting out a frustrating sigh. "It really sucks to be me ya know, the perfect girl has eyes for someone else".
Your eyes widened and you looked down to hide your flustered expression. "Sorry Tsumu. I like you, I really do but I can't stop thinking about him" you admit.

He sighed. "Fine! I guess I'll help you win him over" Atsumu sighed in an exaggerated tone. You looked over at him excitedly. "Really??"
He nodded. "Though I'm definitely the better choice" he added. You gave him a hug. "Thanks Tsumu, I really owe you" you whispered. His face heated up at your touch and looked away only to see Sakusa glaring over at him. 'Might as well milk it' he thought and hugged you back, smiling straight at Sakusa.

By the time you pulled away Sakusa was already gone, you not even having known he saw. You went to the bathroom to wash your hands after even though you knew Atsumu was clean, you just couldn't shake the habit. You hugged him on instinct but honestly it felt weird touching anyone else but Sakusa. 'Never again' you said to yourself as you left the bathroom.

Your eyes widened when you heard a girl speaking down the corridor. "Sakusa-san, are you and y/n dating?"

You heard Sakusa sigh. "No. I don't like her that way in the slightest."
"T-then would you consider dating me?" she said, stuttering her words.

"...I'll think about it" he said finally.

The girl looked so happy as she skipped past you. You, however was stuck in place as if time was frozen. Sakusa didn't seem to notice you as he walked away in the other direction.

After a few minutes Atsumu came walking down the halls, bumping into you. "Oh y/n. What's up?"
You turned to him, hiding your face in his jacket. "This sucks" you mumbled.

It was after school and you were in a cafe with Atsumu. You told him everything that happened in the corridor and a bit of how you came to know Sakusa. "Wow.. this is a lot more complicated than I thought" he admitted, scratching your head. You nodded, sipping your drink. "But he does like you, ya know?" Atsumu said.

"He doesn't. He said it".

"To you?"

"Well, no but he still said it" you reasoned.

"To a random girl right?"

You were silenced.

Atsumu rolled his eyes. "God yer both so dense it hurts." he groaned.

"So what's the plan now" you asked.
"Well we sure as hell ain't quitting the first day. Grow a pair" he said making you roll your eyes. Still, you knew there was some truth in his words.

"Interhigh tournaments are next week. Use it to get closer to him. I'll work some of my magic too". You nodded. "Uh, don't you have a bus to catch?" you asked him. He checked his phone. "Shit! Gotta go y/n, I'll see you at the Interhigh tournament" he called.

You waved him goodbye before returning home and changing into a tracksuit to go train. After all, volleyball was still the #1 thing in your life and the Interhigh was the best way to quickly make a name for yourself in Japan.

You still trained with Sakusa though it felt weird, as if he was being slightly more distant, making sure to give you enough space so you weren't touching though he never acted like this before. It was quieter when you walked home together and there was a small bit of unknown tension in the air. Slowly, it was starting to get to you more and more until you flat out asked him the day before the Interhighs. You were walking back from a 30 minute jog and you just spat it out.

"Are you mad at me?"
He looked slightly confused. "No, why?
"You've been more distant lately and you don't even hang out with me outside of school other than to train. Did I do something wrong?"
His eyes widened. "No. I thought you'd want some space since you're with Atsumu."

"....."
"....."

Nani? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

You burst out laughing, to the point of tears and Sakusa looked extremely alarmed. "Where the hell did you get that idea from?" you choked out in between laughs.

"Uh, you were hugging and you went on a date with him?" he replied, still visibly confused.

"I hugged him cos of a favour he's currently helping me with and that wasn't a date, we were discussing something to do with this favour".

Sakusa nodded slowly, taking in all the information. "Sorry for jumping to conclusions without asking" he said, a flush of pink on his cheeks.

"And what about you and that girl, you two a thing yet?" you asked, trying not to show your nervousness. He raised his eyebrows in annoyance. "I rejected her a while ago. It was so annoying, she cried and almost got snot on me" he shuddered, remembering the whole thing.

A wave of relief washed over you. "Now that we're back to normal, you're sleeping over tonight."
Sakusa chuckled. "I have no choice in the matter huh?"
"Nope"
