I woke up late today. It was my last night alone – at least for some time, till we get the divorce. I felt a bit queasy when I think about divorce. I know it will happen one day, but still.

I always thought I had only a few items to pack, but it took me longer than I anticipated. What seemed like a matter of half an hour extended till evening. Finally, when I was done with it, there were 3 neatly packed suitcases in front of me. There were a few random items too like my books - that I never read, a squash racket – that I never used, and few knick-knacks. I couldn't bring myself to throw them in junk and so, there they were, neatly packed in cardboard boxes.

It was half-past five which meant I have only half an hour to freshen up. I wanted to have a long soak in my bathtub but there's no time now. I quickly had my bath. Ironically, I never had that nice 'looong hot bath' ever since I told it to Mr. Grumpy once.

Promptly at six, the doorbell rang. Martin smiled as I opened the door. I showed him the luggage and he nodded. Soon my things were in the car. Steff hadn't come back from work yet. As discussed, I kept my key in the planter and left a message for her.

Within an hour, we reached the penthouse. I didn't know my way around but Martin was there to help me. He refused any help from me. As I reached the top floor, I fumbled. What am I supposed to do? Shall I just walk inside? Shall I wait till Mr. Grumpy comes? Bang on time, Mr. Grumpy opened the door and smiled at me.

"Welcome Home Amy!" He gushed. I mumbled a 'Thanks' as I was not sure what else to say.

He was wearing casuals today. The classic white shirt and blue Jeans, Jeans being the same shade as that of his eyes. His hair was not gelled back and few strands fell on his forehead softening his looks.

I walked inside with full apprehensions. The main door opens to a fountain that I remember seeing last time. The Living room was at the left of the door. It was luxuriously decorated with an enormous chandelier hanging at the center. From there, one can enter Mr. Grumpy's office -study room. As he opened the door, I could see rows and rows of books and a big table in the center of the room. The table had the same framed family picture and leaning on the picture frame was my tiny yellow Thank You card. I don't know why but I smiled.

The dining and kitchen were on the right side of the fountain. That's where I had my breakfast that day. It was just last month but it seems as if that was a century ago.

"Elisa comes every day to cook. Except for Sunday. We'll have to manage on our own then."

"So, who cooked breakfast that day?" He bowed, taking in the credit.

"Oh! You can cook! I didn't know that" I was surprised that he could cook.

"Now you do!" He smiled.

The central staircase goes to the first level of stay. To the right was the Guest room where I stayed. Close to it was the gym. No wonder, he can't otherwise maintain such a hot body. From the gym, a lift goes to the top floor which has the swimming pool and an indoor badminton court. The top floor, however, is a common floor for all residents of the building.

To the left was the Master Bedroom. The door opened and revealed a gigantic bedroom. It was almost like a suite and divided into three parts. The color theme was dark grey, black, and white and the green potted plants gave nice contrast at different parts.

Near the entrance were a couple of grand couches. There's a 55-inch television that one can watch, sitting comfortably on the couches.

Opposite to it was the ensuite bathroom. If the chamber's bathroom was equivalent to my apartment bedroom, I had no doubts that this one would be huge. I was surely not mistaken. I was enthralled by the sight of bathtub. It was at the very end. Adjacent to the bathtub was not a wall but a glass wall that had a rolling curtain. This meant I could finally have my nice looong hot bath watching the sunset. Wow!

The bed was hidden by a sheer screen and it effectively blocked the view of the bed from the door. The bed was massive. This cannot be a King size bed. I wondered if beds were also custom ordered? This one was big even for four people. My mind dashed back to the tiny single bed at my apartment. This bed was so big that if I stick to my side and he sticks to his, there's no chance in hell that we touch. Do I want to touch him? No! stop thinking Amy!

Directly opposite to the bed was the wardrobe closet. He opened it to reveal a walk-in closet. My luggage was already placed on the closet island. The island had many drawers to keep knick-knacks. There was a door that connected the closet to the bathroom. One side was filled with his clothes. The other side was bare.

"I've cleared out this side for you. You can put your things in here" He said. I looked at my luggage and realized that I actually have only a few items. Maybe I should buy some items.

"If you want to buy any items, please feel free" Did he just read my mind? With that, he gave me a Black Card. "This is yours to use and use it as needed." A Black Card! Doesn't this have an infinite limit?

Coming out of the closet, I saw another screen that partially blocks the next section of the bedroom. I walked ahead to find a big balcony adorned with a small coffee table and a couple of chairs. Standing near the railing, I could see the city twinkling in lights.

"This is beautiful" I whispered.

"Isn't it? This is my favorite spot in the house" He smiled. He's been smiling a lot lately. Was this an act or was Mr. Grumpy an act?

We ate dinner in silence after which he retreated to his study to finish his work. I decided to go to the bedroom and arrange my things. It took me some time. The time was inching towards 11 pm.

I freshened up quickly and decided to sleep as I have office tomorrow. How will I travel from here? Where is the Subway station? And then I remembered my personal chauffeur. Shouldn't I just hitch a ride with Alex? So many questions were popping in my head but there was no answer. I stood there facing the bed. This was so awkward. Which side do I sleep on?

'Whatever' I climbed up on the bed. I sat there wondering what to do for sleep was miles away. Just then I heard the footsteps.

'Shit! He's coming.' I turned my back on his side, pulled the duvet, and pretended to be asleep. He came in quietly, without making any noise. I was all awake while he freshened up, walked to the closet, and eventually came near the bed. The bed dipped slightly and I held my breath. I did imagine a scene in which he rolls up to me and hugs me but that never happened. Within a few minutes, I heard the switch being clicked and opened my eyes to find the room plunged into darkness. I could hear his deep breathing. Was he asleep already? I realized I was holding my breath. I slowly released it.

"Good night Amy!" He whispered. He knew I was not asleep yet.

"Good night Alex." I said but I didn't turn around.

After like forever, I was still not asleep. My mind was too agitated to sleep. Lying on the same side ached my back. I wanted to lie straight but I couldn't. I wished to get up, but he will be disturbed. Oh Good Lord, I can't sleep peacefully and I can't lie properly, even when the bed felt like a cloud made of cotton. So, I laid there, for hours and hours, thinking about how my life has changed. It was early morning when my eyelids felt heavy and I ultimately tumbled into a dreamless slumber.

Goodnight Amy!
