The weekend Theo had wanted to fly me out to see him in Spain, I had been so busy at the hospital I had had to decline.

Dr Stanley had surprised me though, by letting me off early during that Friday and randomly deciding to give me an extra free weekend because of my hard work. I had ended up going out with Emma, Red, Cherry, Elise, Linda, and Elliot, whom I had decided to invite along with us after having chatted to him a few more times at the hospital.

It had all been very short notice and, when Theo had casually texted me to find out what I was up to, he had heard I was out at Leo's instead of working as I had told him.

This, of course, made me feel like he thought I had turned down his proposal to fly out to Spain without a proper reason. He didn't say anything about it at the time though, but I knew.

This weekend, I was completely free from work and decided to surprise Theo. Since Anne was flying out to see him and had invited me to join her, I had said yes.

"I spilt coffee on Dr Stanley," Elliot grumbled and sat down to have lunch with Linda and me.

I laughed, "you need to stop spilling coffee on people, it's not a very nice thing to do."

Linda agreed with a nod, "are you trying to have them take their clothes off?"

"No! Good God, no," he shook his head frantically, "I was rushing again, and... it was very hot! I spilt seriously hot coffee on Dr Stanley! I gave him third degree burns!"

I cringed and shook my head, "third degree burns? Was he wearing clothes?"

"It might've been second degree burns," he corrected, a small smile forming onto his lips. Elliot had a baby-face, and was all around a very adorable human being.

"Go back to school if you can't tell third from second degree burns," Linda scoffed and I nudged her.

"Be nice. Where's that coming from, anyway?" I wondered, and she shook her head.

"Elise is away seeing her family. I haven't heard from her in two days," she explained. A smile formed onto my lips.

"I'm sure she's fine," I assured her, "you know how close she is with her parents..."

"I know," Linda sighed, "I just miss her. How are you even alive with Theo so far away?"

"We keep in touch often. We're both quite busy people anyway," I shrugged, "do you have anyone, Elliot?"

I looked back at him to find his eyes already on me, clearly pondering through something.

"I, uh... no," he cleared his throat and glanced away.

From: Theo: Mum's coming to visit me this weekend. Did you watch our match?

To: Theo: Anne told me! And I'm so sorry, I didn't have time ): I've been so busy, I hope you understand xx

We had just boarded his private jet, everyone around us aware of my intentions to surprise Theo. He had no idea I was coming, and it made me feel extremely giddy.

From: Theo: Okay. As long as you've had time to go out with your friends.

I sensed a lot of passive aggressiveness in his text, and my brows furrowed. The jet began moving slowly towards the runway, Anne already asleep opposite me.

To: Theo: That was last weekend, totally last minute. I would have come to see you in Spain if I had known I'd get the weekend off, but I didn't know until Friday afternoon x

From: Theo: Sure.

This was definitely not going according to plan if he was not okay with me. I shifted in my seat and pondered what I'd type back, knowing he wasn't really angry at me. He was frustrated at this whole arrangement and the distance, as was I, and possibly also things happening there in Spain.

To: Theo: Please don't be angry with me, Theo x

He didn't reply, and I felt a heavy weight settle down onto my heart, obliviously frowning down at my phone screen.

The jet took off. I admired the view for a moment, before deciding to text him again.

To: Theo: Theo?

From: Theo: Yes?

To: Theo: Don't be angry with me, I would have flown out to see you if I had known I'd get the weekend off earlier. I love you ❤️

He really was taking his time with replying...

From: Theo: We'll talk later, I'm busy at the moment.

To: Theo: No, you're angry with me. We'll talk now.

Suddenly his name lit up my screen and my ring tone added to the hum of the jet's engine. I froze, knowing if I answered he'd surely be able to tell I was in an airplane.

I felt extremely conflicted, but finally declined the call. My stomach twisted.

To: Theo: I can only text right now, I'm sorry... Theo, this is hard on us both. Please, don't take it out on me. x

From: Theo: You're clearly busy. We'll talk later.

I sighed and placed my phone on the small table in front of me. I ran my hands over my face and let out a frustrated breath.

It would be incredibly awkward to see him now. It has already been a month since he'd left, and the first two weeks had gone completely fine; we had texted non-stop and called each other every evening.

As much as I hated to admit it, our contact had been slowly fading with how busy we both were. I was soon receiving my bachelor's in nursing and Theo was just getting into whatever groove they had going on in his new club.

We landed a couple of hours later. Anne and I had shared a bottle of champagne, but I hadn't told her about what I'd been texting with Theo as she'd slept.

"I'm so excited! You don't look so excited, darling?" Anne spoke as the jet slowly moved towards a black tinted car. My heart rate had increased at the distant sight of Theo next to it, on his phone.

Even from here he looked good. His hair had gotten longer, and he had it in the smallest ponytail. I wanted to release it and run my hands through it as soon as possible.

"I'm excited," I tried to assure her with a smile, but I really was more nervous.

I had missed him so much for the past month. I knew we would get past the frustration by talking, and would then be able to enjoy each other to the fullest.

"You go first," I told her once the jet had come to a stop and we'd heard the stewardess opening the door, "I'll come after."

"Yes, that's a good surprise," she nodded, clearly excited, "he doesn't have a clue!"

I smiled. Anne grabbed her carryons and got up. She shot me a wink before disappearing toward the front of the jet.

I let out a shaky breath and ran a hand through my hair, sneaking glances outside of the window at Anne and Theo greeting each other with a hug.

I got and up mentally prepared myself to leave. I thanked the stewardess and stepped out of the jet onto the staircase leading down on to the runway.

Theo's back was turned to me, and he was listening to Anne speaking to him by the car. She was - without Theo's knowledge - preventing him from opening the car door for her.

I quietly descended the stairs, until I reached the ground, feeling so utterly excited I could hardly hold back my smile. I slowly took a couple of steps to stand behind Theo. My whole body craved him, having missed him terribly. I wanted to hug him, kiss him, breathe him in...

"Hey," I spoke, my voice much softer than I had expected due to nerves. I felt my fingers tingling with a need to feel him, now that he was actually here. He wasn't an ocean away, he was right in front of me.

I watched his shoulders tense, before he turned around. His dark eyes widened a little. I could see Anne smiling widely behind him.

"Scarlett?"

"Theo," I replied, all of a sudden forgetting every problem in the world and feeling so content at the sight of him, "surprise!"

"What— what are you doing here?" He fumbled over his words, very taken aback by seeing me. His question faded off toward the end though, as he wasted no time in cupping my jaw and leaning in to kiss me.

I smiled gently and wrapped my arms around his neck, my front pressing against his.

"You're real," Theo breathed out and pulled back, his hands moving my hair back as he took in every feature of my face precisely, "bloody hell, I've missed you."

My smile widened, my hands on his hard chest. I felt how his heart rate had accelerated, "I've missed you too, Theo."

He kissed me once more and I felt complete.
