I was lucky that my shift today was a short one, and I could go home before midnight.

Theo was still at the hospital. I guess I was going over to his home soon, to spend the night. I really didn't know what to expect from it. All I wanted was just to be comforted by him.

After having changed out of my scrubs, I arrived on the floor which Daniel was on, my plan being to chat with him a bit until I went on to find Theo.

I had agreed to go to his place, wanting to be with him and talk. I needed him to know how the hate I had been getting was affecting me. Besides, tomorrow I had only a few classes in the early afternoon, which meant there wasn't too much to do except study.

As I neared the hospital room in which Daniel was, my steps slowed down and my brows furrowed. There were nurses gathered by the open door, giggling and whispering with excitement.

"What's going on?" I was asking one of the nurses, before I managed to get a glimpse of what was happening inside.

"It's Theo Black!" one of the women whisper-yelled, extremely giddy.

I discreetly managed to push my way through the women and towards the actual doorway of the room.

Theo was sitting on a chair by a table with Daniel on his wheelchair, also by the round coffee table.

Theo was showing him something from his phone, both chuckling at whatever it was. I watched as Daniel then began telling Theo something, his young voice clearly so enthusiastic and star-struck.

One of the nurses beside me took a picture of the two with a flash. Theo glanced up at this, not too pleased with it but not wanting to say anything with Daniel in the midst of an exciting story.

His eyes suddenly landed on me, and he smiled, "Scarlett, hey! Join us."

Daniel looked up and beamed, before motioning for me to step inside, "yeah, Scarlett!"

I heard of a few murmurs travelling through the group of curious nurses before I managed to squeeze my way past them and inside the hospital room.

"Close the door behind you, would you, love?" Theo added, nodding once at the women still drooling over this whole situation behind me.

"Sure," I nodded, speaking quietly. I avoided all the women and the looks they were giving me as I closed the door, leaving Theo, Daniel and me alone.

"What are you two up to?" I gave the two a small smile and sat down next to Daniel and his wheelchair.

"I spent like five minutes flirting with one the nurses so she'd tell me where Daniel was," Theo explained, grinning knowingly at me. Some part of that mischevious grin told me he did this for me; I had gushed about this adorable football fanatic to him a while back, and now here Daniel was, meeting his idol.

"Oh, wow," I laughed gently before directing my attention at the excited kid, "has Theo been nice to you, Daniel?"

"Yes! We watched the end of the England-versus-Colombia game," he explained, eyes shining with such childlike wonder.

"Nice," I gave him a smile, knowing Theo was watching me intently, "who won?"

"We did!" Daniel grinned, high-fiving Theo.

"Ah, obviously," I nodded, now returning Theo's gaze, "my shift ended, should we be leaving? It's getting late, I'm sure Daniel, your mother wants you to get to sleep soon."

"I can stay up pretty late, though," he boasted to Theo, who nodded understandingly. It was adorable to watch, and I couldn't stop smiling.

"Scarlett's like a 90-year-old woman," Theo then informed Daniel, nudging him and discreetly nodding over at me, "she goes to sleep at like 7 PM."

Daniel snickered, glancing over at me.

"Really?" he curiously asked me while I had my brows raised at Theo, trying to gain his attention.

"No, not exactly. I am tired though, it's been very busy at the hospital today," I sighed and gave him a small smile.

"Oh, okay," Daniel nodded, understanding.

"It's been great hanging out with you, little man," Theo then spoke, catching Daniel's undivided attention back. I watched as they fist-bumped.

"Can you come to visit me again? I could ask my mum, and we could go play football in the park that's close to here," he was excited all over again, and my heart broke a little. At most, they could kick the ball around a little. I knew Daniel wouldn't be able to actually play football again.

"Of course. I just need to get my ankle okay again and help our country win the World Cup," he agreed, his hand on Daniel's shoulder.

It was captivating to watch Theo then saying bye to Daniel. Daniel asked for a selfie, and they took one. I began putting my coat on while they joked around a bit after.

"You've just made his whole month," I told Theo as we made our way to the back entrance of the hospital, where apparently Alfred was expecting us.

The group of nurses had dispersed from around the door to Daniel's room and returned to their duties, leaving Theo and me to walk in peace through the hallways.

"He was sweet. I understand why you're so in love with him," he told me with a small shrug and grin, his walking not as smooth and easy as it used to be since he avoided putting too much of his weight on his hurt foot.

"Sure," I gently nudged him with my elbow, "thank you for spending time with him, it was very nice of you."

"My pleasure," he surprised me completely by taking my hand in his, not minding how people along the hallways were clearly aware of the fact that he was the Theo Black and he was now holding my hand.

"How are you feeling?" I asked him when we were left alone, nobody here to hear us anymore as we neared the back entrance.

"Not too great, love. This sprain came at the worst time possible. I was supposed to leave to Russia tomorrow," he told me, his hand squeezing mine gently in a way that had my body involuntarily nearing his as we walked, "what if we get eliminated before I can get back to possibly prevent it?"

He was being vulnerable, even when we both knew I could never understand how he was feeling about this. My heart thud in my chest, wanting to break out.

"England's team is easily one of the best. You won't miss too many games and as long as you let yourself rest, you'll be back on the field before the games get too real," I tried explaining, but I doubt it made much sense, especially with my lack of knowledge in the sport.

He was quiet for a moment, the doors leading into the cold evening already visible.

"I guess you're right," Theo told me, surprising me. I did a small victory dance inside my head, glad to be helping.

His phone began ringing. He checked the caller ID, but decided not to answer.

"That was my manager. I'm sure he'll want to talk about what's going to happen now that I can't play for a week," he explained, opening the back door with one hand for me. I thanked him quietly and stepped outside, my eyes immediately landing on Alfred waiting by the familiar black and tinted car.

"You can talk to him, it's fine," I was assuring Theo while he led me towards the car. I didn't want him to miss important conversations with his manager because of me; I had enough people thinking I was a bad influence on him already, specifically his career.

"He wants to schedule a press release about all this. He can just send me a message about it," he brushed it off while we got into the backseat of the car.

We said hi to Albert and chatted a bit as he began driving over to Theo's home. Once the partition rolled up, separating us and Alfred, Theo was immediately shifting in his seat, leaning in to turn my face towards his.

"Theo..." I was hesitant as his lips neared mine.

"Shh," he kissed me, his thumb brushing gently over my cheek. From there, he moved his hand to the back of my head, fingers moving through my hair in attempts of keeping me in my place.

"Not now," I managed to clear my head and accept reality. My voice was a soft murmur, laced with disappointment in myself.

"What's wrong?" He pulled back enough to be able to search my eyes for answers. I just shook my head, letting his hand leave me and return to him.

"Have you had a bad day?" He continued after getting no answer from me.

I shook my head again while he returned to leaning back in his seat.

"Let's talk more when we get to yours?" I offered, "I could really use a glass of wine."
