~•~Dipper POV~•~

The last time I saw (Y/n) was probably back in 5th grade. How could I forget her. Braces, glasses, constantly wearing pigtails (unless you have short hair).  She was also the laughing stock of the school. I always felt bad about  that, so that's why we became friends, and only friends. I guess you  could say we were best friends, even if sometimes I did get embarrassed  when she did something really stupid or weird. But honestly, I can't get  embarrassed by that, since we're so much alike. I'm just surprised I  was even able to make other friends.

But then, 6 months later  of be friending her, she moved to a different state. It was sad for me,  since I lost one of my friends, but I still had other friends to  hangout with and talk too. And that's also when people started to pick  on me saying that my 'girlfriend' moved away to dump me and shit like  that, which isn't true. First off, she didn't move away because of me,  her family just wasn't able to afford their house anymore and were  forced to move. Second, we never were a couple, and never will be.

Now I'm 15, and I'm about to get some pretty shocking news from my parents.

"Dipper! Mabel!" I heard my father yell from downstairs.

I groaned to myself, before sitting up from my bed and shrugged out of my room. Mabel ran past me, hyper as always.

Now she's always so energized amazes me.

"Yes?" Mabel asked, as she hoped off the last step and smiled up at our father, me trotting down the stairs behind her.

"We have some news for  you two." My mother said, walking over to us, "His afternoon we are  going to a barbecue our new neighbors house."

"And guess who they are?"

Both my parents looked at me, smiled on their faces. I gave them an awkward look, "Uh, why are you guys looking at me like that?" I asked worriedly.

"Who are our new neighbors?!" Mabel asked, excitedly.

Of course she's excited. Why wouldn't she be?

"The (L/n)'s." Mom said.

"Wait really?!" I asked, as Mabel's mouth dropped open, and started to jump up and down, "Finally! A friend that's a girl living on our block! For some reason we have a lot of guy friends on our block." Mabel said.

"You mean to tell me- that the (L/n)'s — as in (Y/n) (L/n) — are our new neighbors?" I asked.

"Is there a problem?" My dad asked.

Of course there wasn't a problem, I was just shocked about all of this. I blinked at the two of them for a few seconds, before speaking, "N-No! No  of course not." I said.

"Well then, you two should start getting ready before we go over there in a other two hours."

"Okay!" Mabel smiled, hoping back upstairs.

Again, how is she so energized?! I can't even hop up the steps without getting out of breath hallway.

~•~•~

Hands shoved in jean pockets and head slightly hung low, the four of us  walked across the street to the (L/n)'s house. Mabel was wearing one of  her sundresses that she got recently.

Why I wore jeans instead of shorts? Because I just love to suffer in the summer heat.

No, actually, I don't. Today was just a chilly summer day. Bet it sucks to be wearing a sundress right now for Mabel.

When  we reached their door, my father rang the doorbell. We all stood their  only for about a minute, when (Y/n)'s father opened the door. When I got a glimpse of him, I noticed that he hadn't changed much, maybe a few grey hairs here and there. He smiled at us, "Hello! It's great to see  you guys again! Come in, come in!" He said, moving out of the way and  gesturing us to come into his house.

We all stepped inside, as (Y/n)'s father shut the door once we were all inside, "It's been awhile since we last saw each other (F/n)." My dad said.

"How's (M/n) been?" Mom asked (F/n).

"She's  been good. She's also out back with (Y/n) and some her classmate's." (F/n) glanced at Mabel and I, "And look who we've got here! Last time I saw you two you were both a lot shorter then your mother!" He said, making my mom laugh.

Mabel smiled at him, flashing her pearly white teeth. Yes, she did get her braces off, if you  were wondering. I just gave him a stiff nod, not wanted to start a conversation, "Why don't you two head out back and go see (Y/n)?"

"Okay! Let's go,  Dipper!" Mabel said, grabbing my hand and yanking me away from the three, making me almost trip, "It was nice to see you again, Mr. (L/n)!"  Mabel also yelled back.

"Mabel let go of me! You're hurting my arm!" I snapped at her.

By the time she let go  of my hand we were already outside. There were a lot of kids from our school in her backyard, which made me start to regret that I ever came.  It's not that I was worried about anyone being here, of course. I'm just very anti-social. But good thing her parents had gotten a big house, or else this barbecue would be chaos. Mabel was already running over to a group of girls, since they were calling her name and motioning her to  come over.

And for me? Instead of  looking for my friends or at least anyone I knew, I just walked over to  the snacks. Which might I add, is always the place to look for me at a  party. or a get together.

I grabbed one of the plates and scanned around the table. I grabbed a handful of each snack  and placed it on my plate. I picked up one of my chips on my plate, and as I was about to bite it, "I heard someone speak behind me, "Ah, I knew  you'd be over here."

That voice. That  familiar. I knew who it was immediately, "Oh. Hey (Y-" As I turned  around to face her, I stopped mid sentence, eyes widening.

A girl stood right in front of me, a very pretty girl. Her hair was let down (unless if you have short hair)  and blew in the slight amount of wind. She was giving me a lopsided  smile. Her (E/c) sparkled a bit from the sunlight hitting down on her.  Her cheeks were slightly tinted red from the chilly weather. For a  moment I could have sworn this wasn't (Y/n), but I knew she was the only  girl who'd wear pants and a T-shirt at a party or get together. I mean,  particularly ever girl here was wearing a nice blouse or sun dresses, but I knew (Y/n) enough that she hates dresses. She'd probably rather be naked then wear a dress somewhere.

Dammit why did I just put that image in my head.

She looked like she was waiting for me to finish my sentence, "Did you already forget my name Dipshit? It's only been five years." She laughed, flashing me her now  braces free, pearly white teeth.

I blinked at her, before  slightly shaking my head, getting out of my trance, a blush creeping  across my cheeks, "N-No I didn't. I'm just-- what happened to your braces? And your pigtails? And your glasses?"

"Well first off, I got my braces off a couple of months ago. Second, I kinda stopped wearing  pigtails since I was getting too old. And I still do need my glasses, but some people always told me I looked better without them, so I  listened to them. I'm still blind as a bat though." (Y/n) said.

"So why not wear contacts?"

"I'm not putting plastic crap in my eyes! I'd rather do anything else then that!"

"What about wearing a dress?" I smirked slightly.

A small blush appeared on her cheeks, as she puffed out her cheeks slightly and crossed her arms, "Like that'll ever happen."

I laughed aloud, which  made her cheeks turn more red. But then she started to giggle, starting  to finally laugh along with me. After calming down our laughter, we both sighed, staring at each other in silence.

I blinked a couple of times again, clearing my throat, "D-Did you also come over here to get a snack or..?"

"Oh, um, I-I guess." She said, quickly walking over next to me.

She grabbed one of the plates from the table and looked around the table. She grabbed a handful of (F/s) and placed it on her plate. She looked over at the couple of  bowls of other snacks that were in front of me, "Uh, I need to get some of those-" She pointed to the bowl, since I was kind of in her way.

"Uh, sorry-" I backed up  bit, "No, it's fine-" She said, she stepped a bit closer to me, trying  to lean in front of me to reach it. I could feel my cheeks turn more red  from how close she was to me now, "Here I-I'll move out of the way-"  "No seriously it's fine-" As she said this, I saw her one hand slip off  the table clothing, making her fall forward right into me.

The next thing we knew,  we were both on the ground, (Y/n) right on top of me, gripping onto my  shirt to brace herself for the fall. Her plate of snacks was now all of  the ground next us. People were looking over at us, snickering from the  position we were in. Someone whistled at us in flirtatious way, making  both our cheeks turn more red, as we were staring down at each other,  "Heh, I guess I should have worn my glasses or else I would've been able  to see what I was doing." She said, making my chuckle lightly.

"Hey lovebirds!" I heard  Mabel yell, making some of the kids snicker and us looking at her, our  faces going more red, "Quite making out with each other and hangout with  us!"

Mabel was motioning the  two of us to come over to a group of kids, who were talking among  themselves. I saw from the corner of my eye (Y/n) look at me. A small  smile appeared on her face, "Come on." I felt her body left off of mine,  "Let's go over there." She reached her hand out for me to grab.

I stared at it for a  moment on the ground, before I slowly took it, smiling slightly. We  started to walk over to the group, her hand still holding my hand, and  (Y/n) didn't drag me over like how Mabel did before, which hurt might I  add.

Don't laugh.

On our way over, (Y/n) spoke up to me, "I'm glad that we became friends back in fifth grade and that we still are."

The way she spoke to me made my heart flutter, but deep down, a part of me felt upset. I don't know what it exactly was, but I just pushed it away. Right now I'm supposed to be having a good time with (Y/n), and that's what I'm going to do.

"Yeah... friends..."
