Trevor

"You can use my card and my truck as much as you want. After I check in with work, I'll go into the city and get you a cell phone on my plan. I don't care where you go, as long as you're back by 6 pm. Alright? That's my only stipulation. If you don't come back by then, I'm sendin' out a full-blow armed search party." I told her as I settled her into my Silverado

I knew after getting her a phone, my next order of business was going to be getting Lila her own car so she didn't have to drive my truck if she didn't want to, it seemed a little big for her. And judging by her facial expression when she'd seen it, she agreed. So something smaller and safe, an SUV maybe.

"You can just drop me off at a shelter or Sergio's." she said quietly, "I don't want to be an inconvenience."

I could tell she was uncomfortable with my complete trust in her and my insistence on pampering her. Clearly, it was new to her. It made me want to kill that bastard Craig even more.

"Sweetheart, I'm not letting you go now that I've found you. Now, please go into town and get yourself whatever you need and want. Okay? I'll see you back here at 6. I'll make dinner." I replied

She worried her bottom lip between her teeth, and I wanted nothing more than to reach out and free the soft flesh with my thumb, but I managed to resist - she wasn't ready for that. Eventually, she agreed with a nod. I watched her pull hesitantly out of the driveway and head in the direction of town before I hopped on my bike and made my way into the city.

Delilah

Driving through town in this massive pickup truck was surreal. I couldn't believe the turn my life had taken. I decided that I would go to the general store and the small boutique in town, that would be enough to tide me over until I figured out my next move.

I had called Serge earlier using Trevor's phone and told him I was safe here. He insisted that I could stay with him and Matt for as long as I needed, but I'd said no at Trevor's request. I had confided everything in Sergio this morning and he'd cried thinking of how alone and scared I'd been. He said that he would support whatever I wanted to do - even if that included packing up and starting over somewhere new.

Every time I'd thought about leaving Trevor, my heart sank a bit, this time was no exception. How was it possible that after everything the darn thing had up and grown attached to him in a matter of hours? Hell if I knew. But rationally I knew that eventually, the bubble would burst, it always did, and I didn't want to overstay my welcome.

I pulled up to the general store and parked the behemoth truck. Hopping out and heading in, I realized that I probably should have made a list and gone over what to get with Trevor. Though he did tell me to get whatever I wanted or needed, I was extremely hesitant.

I walked through the aisles and picked up toiletries, a hairbrush, and some personal care items. As I stood in line for the checkout counter, I spotted Zagnut bars in the impulse buy area. My fingers twitched to reach out and grab one, but I chastised myself for even considering spending someone else's money on something as frivolous as a favorite childhood treat.

I hadn't realized how intently I had been staring at the candy bar until the woman at the desk cleared her throat and snapped me back to reality. She was an older woman, maybe late 50s, with graying hair and a sunny smile.

"You don't happen to be Delilah by any chance?" she asked me

"Yes ma'am," I replied

"Oh goody!" she clapped her hands together, coming around the counter and letting the teenager beside her know she was helping me.

"Trevor called ahead and told me to make sure you get whatever you want. And as the owner of this establishment and a friend of his dear momma's, I told him I'd look out for you," she said gently guiding my shoulder back towards the aisles

"I have everything I need." I said, confused, "And I'm sorry, but I didn't catch your name."

"Name's Georgia dear. And things that you need are very different from things that you want." she winked

She took her time, taking me through every aisle, and if I ever stopped to look at something she put it in my basket. I had to do a lot of convincing for her to ease up some and let me put some items back. An hour later, I had checked out with more items than I had intended to purchase. But Georgia kept telling me that Trevor would be alright with it.

Georgia kept me company down the block to the boutique too, telling me that we ladies had to stick together and look out for one another. Although she was super pushy, I had become fond of the older woman in just the short time I'd known her. But the voice in my head often reminded me that this was only temporary - not to get too attached.

The boutique was more of the same, Georgia insisted that I needed more than I'd picked out and pressed me for a fashion show. Once she was satisfied with my pile of clothing, she turned to me with a conspiratory smile.

"How about some lingerie dear? You'd look just darling in this." she motioned to a rack with lacy bralettes

"Oh, no." I shook my head

I found myself blushing at the thought of Trevor seeing me in something like that. Granted I'd worn things similar looking to work at the Treasure Trove before, but this was more demure and intimate. Something you'd wear for a lover. But Trevor wasn't my lover.

I talked Georgia out of the lingerie and made my way to checkout. Once everything was bagged and loaded into the truck, I said goodbye to Georgia. To my surprise, she pulled me in for a motherly hug. And even more of a surprise was that I hugged her back.

We parted ways with a promise to meet for coffee soon. And I just hoped I would be around this quaint town long enough to make sure that happened.
