Trevor

After we invaded the warehouse and found Delilah on the ground being smothered by that piece-of-shit, I went into a blind rage, mauling that fucker within an inch of his pathetic life. Tank and Rooster pulled me off of him, the unconscious motherfucker, and told me that we needed to handle this the right way.

I yanked myself from their grasp and went to my girl, who was unconscious, and took her to get medical attention. Seeing her like that, bruised and broken on the dirty floor broke my heart in two. I rode with her to the hospital and stayed by her side as much as I was allowed.

I should have killed the fucker when I had the chance.

After making sure Delilah was stable and I was alright, my brothers handed Craig over to the proper authorities. Needless to say, the FBI agents were none too pleased with us, but I didn't give a shit. If they'd have done their job Lila would never have gone through hell. Right now Rooster and several other brothers were meeting with the President of Killerz MC, a guy by the name of Raider, to settle things between the MCs.

After sitting in the hospital waiting area for what felt like an eternity, head in my hands, Rooster made his way to me and clapped me on the shoulder. I looked up at him.

"They won't bother you or Lila any longer," he said meeting my gaze seriously

I knew what he was trying to convey to me. We were safe. Craig was no longer a threat - if he was even still breathing. Raider would likely take it upon himself to dole out some justice of his own.

I stuck my hand out to my Pres. and shook his hand firmly, "Thank you." I said, meaning it to the deepest depths of my soul.

My brothers all filed in behind him and sat with me in the waiting area I'd been banished to after trying to force myself into Lila's exam room. We sat for hours in silence, but just having them there meant the world to me. Miss Jo even showed up with some food for us and lots of comforting, motherly hugs for me. Eventually, a nurse came to get me and allow me into Lila's room to see her. I was warned that she was sedated and likely wouldn't wake until morning.

I took a deep breath and entered her room. I made my way quietly over to her bedside and sat down in the chair there. I wove my fingers with hers and kissed the back of her hand. She looked so broken and battered, it made me sick to my stomach to see her like that. I took a deep breath and hunkered down to be with her until she woke up.

Delilah

When I opened my eyes again, bright sunshine nearly blinded me, and the strong scent of antiseptic assailed my nose causing my stomach to lurch. I almost immediately met Trevor's concerned gaze and could feel the corner of my mouth lift into a smile at his presence, wincing as I did at the pain that shot through my lip.

"Easy baby." Trevor reached out to cup my cheek, stroking his thumb over my cheekbone.

"Where are we? Am I okay? Did they get Craig?" I said in an anxious rush, panic gripping my lungs.

"Shh, shh, slow down love. You're safe. We're at Greenvale Memorial. You got banged up pretty good but the doc said you're making good progress and may even be released today." he smiled at me cautiously

I wanted to ask him what was wrong, but right then is when the doctor came in to check on me. He and the nurse looked over the monitors and checked my chart before giving me a brief physical exam.

"You're one lucky lady Miss Steger. A few more inches to the left and that broken rib of yours would have punctured the lung." the doctor, an older gray-haired man, said with a warm smile.

He told us that aside from my broken ribs and split lip that I had severe bruising all over my body, several deep cuts and scrapes, a mild concussion, and a broken wrist. I felt Trevor's hand squeeze mine and I could feel the tension rolling off of him as the doctor prattled on.

"You'll be getting discharged today," he said, snapping me back to paying attention, "But you can't be alone for at least the next 24 hours due to the concussion. I need to be sure that someone will be looking after you." then he turned to look at Trevor, "And you sir, are...?"

"Her fiancée. She's coming home with me. I'll take good care of her doc." Trevor replied, clenching his jaw

I know I shouldn't have been surprised, but Trevor claiming to be my fiancée - especially when there hadn't been a proposal - shocked me. I could feel my eyebrows hit my hairline as I shot a curious glance over at him.

"Splendid." the doctor smiled, "I'll get to work on her paperwork and have my nurse here brief you on everything for Miss Steger's care." then he turned and walked out of my room

I turned to Trevor, "Fiancée huh?"

"Damn right," he growled, kissing my forehead.

"I know I took quite a blow to the head, but I don't remember you asking to marry me," I smirked, wincing a little as I did

Trevor's eyes softened and he released my hand to pull a ring box out of his jacket pocket. He flipped open the lid to reveal the most amazing antique ring I'd ever seen. It had a beautiful, bright-white emerald-cut central diamond that gleamed gorgeously from within a sparkling frame of smaller round diamonds and trios of tapered baguette diamonds, all set in a platinum band. My jaw dropped to the floor as Trevor removed it from the box and slid it onto my finger. He kissed my now-bejeweled ring finger before looking up into my eyes.

"Delilah Steger, I love you more than life itself. I love your bravery, your fire, your generous heart, and beautiful smile." he paused and squeezed my hand slightly, "This was my grandmother's ring. She and my grandfather had 66 amazing years of marriage full of love and laughter, so I'm hoping it will be good luck for us. I never believed in love at first sight before you, but I was a fool because the first moment I laid eyes on you I knew you were my soulmate. I nearly lost you yesterday, and I can't go another minute not knowing the answer to the question I'm about to ask. So. Lila Baby, will you please do me the honor of marrying me?"

I squeezed his hand as tightly as I could, feeling tears well in my eyes, "Yes."
