Chapter 34

Alright @Numokeji,  Here it is.  Long but it's them.....

-Date Night

Braylin slips his fingers between hers clasping their hands together.  They walk from the conference room to the lobby finding it crowded with guests checking in for the weekend.  Looking around the lobby Braylin finds a secluded area behind two empty high back chairs with tall plants partially hidden from prying eyes.  He ushers her behind the chairs pulls her against him then lowers his head to kiss her.

“Uh…?”  Kara presses two fingers to his lips.  “You trying to still a kiss early Mister.”

“I’m offering an apology.”  His voice is low filled with seductive tenderness.  Tracing the contours of her body with his fingers he ignites tingling sensations.   She stares at him in disbelief, there’s a look of triumph in his eyes or maybe she’s imagining it.

He kisses her fingers held over his lips.  Holding his hand over hers he kisses her open palm.  “Will you accept my apology Kara?”  He doesn’t give her a chance to respond his lips touch hers in a tentative kiss that quickly increases with pressure.  Kara’s heart rate rises.  He slides his tongue in to tease hers.  She accepts his kiss, accepts his way of apologizing.

Her inhibitions are relaxed keeping her in the moment.  Hotel guests ignore them except for one pair of eyes that almost miss the couple making up behind the huge chairs near the tall plants.

The man is on his way to the front desk.  He has an envelope to deliver.  He drops it off with one of the hotel representatives telling her it’s an important document needed by Hurst Corporation.  The representative advises she just came on duty but will deliver it personally to them before the end of her shift in the morning.

As James Monroe is exiting the hotel he stops to spy on the passionate couple still in each other’s arms behind the chairs.  His smile is filled with melancholy remembering a time when he stole kisses with his wife in hotel lobbies when all they had to do was get a room.  Sadly he doesn’t have that kind of passion for her anymore.

Although Kara is angry with her mother for leaving her and him for taking her away.  He actually feels like he did her a favor.  Kara is lucky not to have spent her most influential years with a mother like Amelia.  If she had, she probably wouldn’t be kissing Braylin Hurst now he would hate her like he hates her mother.

James doesn’t care for Braylin, he genuinely likes Kara but he needs to get ownership of Santino’s.  Exiting the hotel he rushes to his waiting limo.  The woman he was thinking about sits in it impatiently waiting on him.

“Did you see either of them James?”  She’s texting a message.

He gives her a cursory glance, his gaze switches to her phone seeing she’s texting another list of things for Zain to do while she’s gone.

“I wasn’t in the hotel looking for your daughter and her boyfriend Amelia.”  He says getting his own dig in at her.  He’s aware of how jealous she is of her own child, he’s tired of hearing her tirades about Kara being with Braylin since she recently learned Kara is living with him.

Turning to look out the window as they drive off James ignores her like he normally does making a mental note to talk to Zain when he gets back to New York to find out what she’s up to.

Braylin leaves Kara sitting in one of the huge high backed chairs while he goes to the front desk for a few minutes.  In his conversation with the hotel representative she mentions there is an envelope for his company.  He tells her his brother will pick it up giving her Cameron’s name.

Returning to pick Kara up from her comfortable seat they walk through the exit doors to a waiting limousine.

“Where are you taking me on such short notice?”  She ask with a demure smile.

“I know this city, I’ve been here more times than I can remember.”  Is his easy response.

The limo pulls up at the MGM Grand.  Braylin escorts her to L’ Atelier de Joel Robuchon where they are immediately seated.

“Très bien faite Monsieur Hurst, avez-vous été vérifier dans mon arrière-plan?”  [Very nicely done Mister Hurst, have you been checking into my background?] Kara ask him while opening her menu.

“I know you went to culinary school in Paris if that’s what you mean, I like the food here I don’t have to eat broccoli or look at it on the tasting menu.”  He answers.

The waiter appears and they order.  Braylin orders a bottle of wine for them impressing Kara with his wine knowledge.  After the waiter leaves they continue their conversation.

“So you do know the language.  Why didn’t you respond in French?  You’re supposed to be impressing me.”  She says laying her napkin over her lap.

“I know my limitations.  I don’t speak it as well as you do.  Don’t fret ma chérie, I have other talents to impress you with.”  He cheekily responds.

“I’ll just bet you do.”  She smiles coyly liking it that he called her his darling.

There first coarse arrives.  They have ordered the Sixteen Course Tasting Menu.  Braylin would rather watch Kara eat instead of eating his own food except when she excitedly reaches across the table to feed him something she really likes although he has the same food on his plate.   The sensuality she uses to feed him fills him with fervid longing to taste more than just the food.  This is the second time she’s done it.  He can see it becoming a habit between them.  He listens to her talk about her time in Paris.  He didn’t realize she is so fluid in French and so learned about French cuisine.

She listens to him talk about what his expectations are for the mid-town project and his dreams for the casino they are building.

Catching her off guard he ask her what she plans to do when she sells her land.  She definitely wants to keep her father’s legacy but she wants to open up something modern more her style.  She describes what that is to him.  They have eaten most of their meal.   By time they get to the dessert she has almost revealed to him that she is ready to sell the land to him.  It’s not something she wants to discuss with him while on their date.  She prefers to save it until morning.  Luckily seeing the Au Chocolat Orizaba dessert makes her forget about it for a time.

One bite of the aphrodisiac dessert is all each wants to taste.  Braylin pays their bill while Kara waits beside him thinking she didn’t plan to be such an expensive dinner date as he signs the fifteen hundred dollar credit card bill.  He’s quite generous with a tip.

They are back in the limo riding down the strip.  He pulls out a bottle of Prosecco pouring her a glass.  She takes a sip liking it but she already drank several glasses of wine at dinner she sets the glass down not wanting to get tipsy.

His hand is on her knee.  She smiles at him seductively while her insides are shaking.  His appreciative eyes roam over her body.  “You look beautiful, I’m glad you came downstairs to get me.  I thought I had messed things up between us.”  He reflects.

“Can you look at me and not see my mother?”  She ask holding her head down afraid of the answer he will give.

He eyes her sternly, tilting her head up with a finger he lowers his head to tenderly kiss her.  She splays her hands against his firm chest she can feel his beating heart.  He pulls her on his lap to straddle him.  His hands slide up and down her thighs squeezing her butt he adjust her on top of him against his already growing arousal.  She loosens his tie taking it off.  Unbuttoning his top button her hand slides inside his shirt caressing his neck and cupping his face.

“You didn’t answer my question, I need to know.”  Her voice is full of husky sensuality.

“I thought I did, I must be slipping.  I guess I’ll have to do better to convince you that I only see you Kara.”  His lips and tongue are already tasting her flesh in the low cut bosom opening at the front of her dress.   Her body writhes against him bringing him to full arousal with the friction they are creating.  His hands push at the spandex dress working it up her thighs.

She enthusiastically awaits for them to reach their destination enticing him with her body while making it easier for him to move her clothing out of the way.  With her dress no longer an impediment his hands caress her inner thighs.  They move further between her legs their exploration ignites her desire causing convulsions of pleasure through her inner core.  His face is buried in the valley of her breast.  He lowers her dress straps to taste and suckle one then the other of her enticing breast.

Her hand finds its way to his belt buckle unfastening it.  His button is undone his fly is open.  Her hand slides past his boxers to make that first caress.  Wrapping her hand around his manhood causes a shiver to course through his body her touch is igniting his own flame.   She can feel it’s her he wants, she needs to hear the words.  She wants him to say it.

They are lost in a sensual kiss.  His cell phone rings.  They ignore the ringing it stops.  Braylin shifts their bodies into a more comfortable erotic position.   The phone is in his jacket mashed between them.  The piercing annoying ringing of it returns.  Braylin yanks it out of the inside of his jacket pocket to throw it on the seat next to them.  It lights up ringing again then stops then rings again ruining the moment. It won’t stop incessantly ringing.

“Answer it.”  Kara almost screams pushing at his chest.  He’s in position between her open legs filled with amorous anticipation now his face looks crestfallen.  Her hand slides away from his fully aroused ready male anatomy.

Leaning his back against the seat he can’t believe this is happening to him bemoaning the interruption.  She is so inviting, he can’t wait to paint her wet walls with his eager brush.   The look of desire on her face is gone.  She looks… annoyed.  The hand now on his chest is pushing him away she is getting off of him, sitting next to him she starts to pull her dress down.

He grabs the annoying phone from the seat wanting to throw it out the window instead of answering it but it shrieks again.  Growling his greeting he hears Lester’s worried voice.

He watches as Kara puts her dress straps back in place.  She’s fully clothed again.  The emotions that line his face draw her attention to his conversation making her wonder about it.  They arrive at their destination before he finishes his call.  She sits silently next to him listening to his clipped responses.

After the phone call, he reluctantly fixes his clothing, she is in control again fully dressed.  The moment between them is definitely gone.  He exits the limo abruptly.  She can’t read his look.  She doesn’t know what the phone conversation was about but suspects it had something to do with her.

He’s brought her to a club.  This place has dancing.  Walking into it the atmosphere is candle lights and romance.  Couples sit around quiet intimate tables drinking and cuddled up in intimate conversations.  They are greeted by a hostess who escorts them to a table that has banquette seating.  There’s a quartet on the stage a woman is singing a bluesy love song.

After being seated they order more drinks.  Kara eagerly takes several sips of hers.  Maybe she can get drunk since she can’t seem to get laid.  What is it?  Every single time they get in the moment….

Calming herself down, she ogles his upper body in his expensively tailored suit.  He unbuttons his jacket getting comfortable.

“I guess I owe you another apology.”  He remarks taking a sip of his drink.  He displays an aloofness she suspects is a result of his phone call.

“Did you get some bad news?”  She ask.

There’s a deep crease at his brow.  “It’s nothing I can’t handle, we need to talk about us.”  His remark is clipped.

“What about us.”   Kara turns to fully face him, knees touching.  They are sitting next to each other in the banquette.

“I don’t know your face is splashed all over the tabloids in New York with Logan.  You cared for him at one time maybe you still do.  You were just with him.  Regardless of what you found out about him it’s not easy to just stop caring about someone you loved enough to be engaged to for almost a year.  He’s making it clear that he’s still in love with you, he want’s you back, he says it’s up to you.  He wants to rekindle what you had.”

“Is that what your phone call was about?  Checking up on me and Logan?”   She replies trying to keep an even temperament.

“I didn’t have to do much checking, the tabloids did most of it for me.  He’s given several interviews.  What do you see happening between you and me?” His fingers are touching hers on top of the table.

Kara moves her hand away.  Heavily sighing she nervously stands up needing to get away.  “I’ve got to go to the ladiesroom.”  She hastily comments leaving.

In the restroom she grabs paper towels wetting them with cold water putting them on her face to cool herself down.  She can’t believe he is asking her this question.  She thought something had already happened between them.  Doesn’t he want her here?  She feels so foolish.  Everything seemed to be going fine until….he answered that phone.”

Leaving the bathroom she takes her time going back to their table.  It’s empty, he walks up behind her his hand is on her arm turning her around.  Music is playing in the background, she hears it, recognizes the song being played, it’s one of her favorite songs and so ironic that it’s being played at this moment.

“When your legs don’t work like they used to before

And I can’t sweep you off of your feet

Will your mouth still remember the taste of my love

Will your eyes still smile from your cheek

Darlin I will

Be Lovin You

Til were seventy...

“Dance with me.”  He leans down to whisper in her ear.  His hand slides down her arm to entwine his fingers with hers.  He doesn’t wait for an answer, pulling her by the hand he makes his way through the loved up couples on the dance floor to find a dark empty spot away from the stage.

Pulling her into his arms, she feels caught off guard her body is tense.  She can’t keep up with his changing moods.  Her hands slide up his chest resting platonically around his neck.  His hands rest on her hips holding her against him.  She rest her temple against his chin.  She learns not only is he a good dancer but he’s a sensual mover.

“Kara I don’t want to spend the rest of the evening owing you apologies.  I like making up with you but I want to kiss you for reasons other than that.”  She hears him say against her ear.

Her expressive eyes meet his mischievous ones.  “What would some of those other reasons be?”

“Do you need a numbered list?  Does it have to be in a poem or something?  Can I just want to kiss you because I want to feel your lips against mine?  He speaks in a hushed, awed whisper.

“Ahem…..Ah….yeah.  I think that’s a good reason.”  She knows there’s a huge blush on her face, she’s hoping its dark enough that he can’t see it.

“Don’t think I don’t want you because I do.”   He further replies, she feels the pressure of his lips against the side of her neck.  Tightening her arms around his neck she presses her body closer to him grinding into him.  She can feel him relax into her he buries his face in her neck his lips rest on her shoulder.

They are barely moving on the dance floor each is content just to be in the other’s arms without family, business or miscommunication between them.  It’s simply a few moments they can be themselves, be with each other.

“I’ve made a decision about my building.  I’ve decided I want to sell it to you. I want you to draw up the papers with the offer, I’ll sign them.”  She can’t hold it in any longer saying it at the song’s end.

People are leaving the dance floor.  The singer on stage is taking a break.  A couple walking past them pulls Braylin out of his awestruck state.  He seems stunned that she announces it now, she just says it out of nowhere.  This is not how he wants to get her land.

He didn’t bring her here to try to convince her to sell her building to him although isn’t that why they started seeing each other in the first place he has to admit to himself?

He thought she wouldn’t leave a lasting impression on him.  No woman ever does that.  She’s no different than the other beautiful women he dates for a couple of weeks maybe a month.  She just has something other than what’s between her legs he wants.  Up until this moment, he had not gotten either of those things he was seeking.

The plan he had and what actually happened have brought him to this point.  As they flirted and sparred with each other in her restaurant he became more intrigued by her.  He was happy that she had broken her engagement.  He was extremely attracted to her at first sight.

Pictures of their kiss showing up in those magazines and in the news wasn’t a part of his plan but it made it easier he thought for him to achieve his goal.

Her getting attacked changed everything.  She became a person to him and not just another conquest.  He still has that same anger toward the person that harmed her.  He feels protective of her, he wanted to be near her constantly although she kept pushing him away.

When he got her to move in with him he thought he could control what he was feeling.  He wasn’t going to let it get the best of him.   He didn’t have to be under the same roof with her, he would date other women and travel doing his job.  He could stay away but know that she’s safely tucked away in his home.

That plan had to be revised, he doesn't know when the change occurred he knew he didn't want any other woman.  He had to see her even if it meant arguing with her every day.  As they spent more time together he fell harder unable to fight what he feels any longer he finally started to give in.

Just when he is ready to tell her how he feels he learns she is related to the one person he hates in all the world. Braylin wants to hurt Amelia like she hurt him, he wants to be the one to destroy her.  He has been progressively taking steps to do just that.  If her husband goes down with her so be it.

Now, here he stands holding in his arms the catalyst that can move him forward in achieving his goals.  He’s on the cusp of getting two of three things he wants.  The third will happen as a domino effect.  Kara giving Santino’s to him and them being lovers will destroy her mother.  Amelia won’t be able to handle it.  It’s a perfect revenge against the woman that humiliated him but he can’t do it.  He can’t take from Kara to destroy her mother.

He is so in love with Kara that it consumes him.  Listening to Lester tell him of how she and Logan actually met, how Logan romanced her, proposed to her, the reason she turned him down.  He doesn’t believe he and Kara have a chance.  He doesn’t want to hurt her and he doesn’t want to start something with her he can’t finish because he knows her mother will get in her head like she’s gotten into his.

Kara doesn’t understand why he’s not moving.  She puts her hand on his arm rubbing it.

“Braylin…”  Her husky voice gets his attention.

Blinking rapidly he looks into her worried eyes.  “I want to get out of here.
