Chapter Twenty Two

A few months earlier:

It was a typical Friday morning, temperature lingering just over 70 degrees Fahrenheit, the weather was cool for a summer day in Illinois. It wasn't cold nor hot, it was just right. No clouds blanketed the blue sky's, just the sun standing in all its glistening glory. Anyone would say it was a perfect day. But for Isaac Fisher it was just another anxious and dark world for him. A world where police enforcement were hunting him down for a crime he didn't commit. A murder he had been framed for.

That being said, he was destined to clear his name. He was sick of running, but in order for the nightmare he was living in could go away he had to do something about it. Something that just might get him even deeper into the hole he had already buried himself.

And that something was, kidnap Delilah Lancaster. He knew nothing of her except that she was the biological daughter of an ex convict of his father, who was the only way to unlocking his freedom. There was a deal, an exchange; taking Delilah to her father even if it was against her own will for help, for the exchange of good lawyers to help him prove his innocence. The plan was easier said than done, but the fact that Isaac was so invested in his worrisome thoughts kind of drove him away from thinking of possible complications to the plan. He prepared for the job. He had planned overnight.

Isaac had collected every knowledge there was to know of Delilah Lancaster. Every little speck and fragment. From the way she would shrug due to vulnerability or  because of an uncomfortable moment. And the ways her lips would twitch to a side when she was nervous. It took two months to collect all the information. And four months to plan out the capturing and delivery to Gerald, Delilah's biological father.

"Come on let's just go to the party. It will be fun!!!" Naomi, Delilah's best friend pleaded, rose lips pouted.

Isaac sunk deeper into the cushioned seat of his vehicle. Eyes just a tad bit over the dashboard in front of him as he stared deeply at his future captive. His pulse was racing and his palms clammy, he had never done such thing before. Nor would he ever think of doing such thing. It was all outlandish to him, but it was a task he was desperate to complete. It didn't matter what the complication of tonight was going to be, Isaac had a deadline and his last chance to capture Delilah was tonight. So he had four different plans for the day based on the place or the scene that would take place. And by the looks of it he was going with plan c. He over heard Delilah frustratingly cave in to her friends begging to go to a party.

He waited until they both got into the car and left the parking lot, he followed far behind to avoid suspicion. It took about thirty minute due to traffic but they finally neared an iron gate that was already vast open in a welcoming manner, they had arrived to the sight of the party. The house before Isaac seemed overwhelming, in its stature and the music blaring from inside it.

He waited for Delilah and her friend to find a parking among the twenty plus cars cramped up together so he could park a reasonable distance away from their car, not too far and not to close either to avoid suspicion. When settled the first one to prop out of the car was Naomi, she sprinted towards the house leaving Delilah behind. Isaacs waited for her, his brows furrow as seconds turned to minutes, and then it was ten minutes which made him grow ever so impatient. Isaac scrambled out of the car and sat on the hood just waiting and waiting, fingers ripping at his cuticles aggressively.

"I see a little silhouetto of a man

          scaramouch, scaramouch will

          you do the fandango..."

A man around his early twenties began to sing as a group of what seemed like drunk men around him chantingly followed him down the rows of parked cars. The man singing was nude and covered in paint with a random tree branch in one hand and a bottle of tequila in the other. He suddenly stopped in front of the car Delilah was sitting in and pressed his private area on the passenger's side window, causing her to glance away in horror. That's when she pushed the naked man with the door, regaining him to fall back and onto the gravel beneath them. She ran like her life depended on it, ran in the same direction that Naomi was seen sprinting to. And with that occurring, it was Isaacs cue now.

He pushed himself off the car and walked slow behind Delilah and at a distance. He entered shortly after she did in hesitation. He had spent day and night of every day studying her behavior. He was convinced that he knew her better than she knew herself. He knew what was bound to happen. Delilah was a very anxious and introverted person. She was destined to have a nervous related episode. He also knew that Naomi wasn't going to be by her side to help her, so Isaac got to work, he pushed himself through the crowd of warm cramped bodies as he inched for the kitchen.

The music was overwhelming and so were the flashing of lights but that didn't stop him from going towards the island of the kitchen as he searched for any type of cooler of beverages. Frustration grew as he pushed past more and more loud college kids. He finally came across the coolers and to his surprise there was a very big variety. From beer, to energy drinks , and soda. But there they were. There were four cans of orange soda buried beneath all the ice and all the other sodas.

He took out all the orange soda cans, he knew that she would come around looking for one. He  knew that it was going to be the only thing she would be in search of to calm her anxious nerves. Isaac hid two of the cans in a random cabinet, taking the other two to the bathroom with him. Looking around he locked the door behind him and made sure no one was there. With that he took out a syringe he had in his pocket, and a pill. He opened one of the cans, pouring just half an inch into a small cup he also removed from his pocket, then let the tablet he held in his other hand fall and dissolve into the soda. Then he sucked the contains into the syringe and inserted them into the unopened can, soon after applying a small and thin piece of tap over it.

His hands trembled as he thought about what he was about to do. It wasn't something he wanted to do but it was something he had to. He took in deep breaths as he thought of freedom and help that would come after one small inconvenience. Pacing back and forth he talked to himself under his breath in a calming manner until the palpitating heart beats vanished. He threw away the opened can and took the other with him back into the crowd of grinding bodies. He shoved his way back into the kitchen, and just how he predicted, there was an worrisome looking Delilah, face red and mouth in a frown as she dug into the cooler trying to find her favorite soda. With that, Isaac approached her, placing the tampered soda within her gaze.

Her honey brown eyes lighting up at the sight, she looked up but froze at the glance of Isaac. Why was she looking at Isaac so intensely. It seemed like she disappeared from existence for a minute.

"Sorry, did I scare you?" His voice seemed apologetic.

      "I...uh...no"

Something strange began to wither in Isaacs stomach a feeling he hadn't felt for a very long time as he stared deep into those eyes of hers.

"Here, you can have it." He said, looking away from her gaze.

"No it's okay." She laughed nervously, as she hugged herself for comfort.

Isaac insisted until she finally accepted, and opened the can,  with no hesitation she took a swing of the soda then looked at the can of FANTA in satisfaction.

Isaac chuckled charmingly. "Woah, you really like your orange soda don't you?"

She shyly smiled up at him which caused that gut feeling to trample inside of him again.

      "You can say that"

They spoke for a few minutes until Delilah lost balance and fell unconscious on top of him. The plan had worked, it was a success. No one paid attention because that was a normal thing that happened at parties of this level. Most people were either drug, hooking up, or high.

Instead of feeling relief and accomplishment, Isaac began to feel confused and hesitant as he held onto Delilah. What he hadn't  realized after all those months of getting to know this girl from far away. Getting to know her every move, like and dislike. And fragments of her personality and habits, that he had fallen deeply in love with her, and there was no way he was going to escape that feeling that grew more and more in his heart, and the twists and turns that sailed in his stomach.
