     Chapter Thirteen

Her taste buds were given the delightful permission to savor again. Every single bite was the heaven that filled her small and frail stomach, slowly relieving the pain. Halfway through the burger, Delilah forced more pieces down her throat. Even though she was hungry her stomach had consumed itself and eating food was a great hassle.

Isaac just studied the girl with caution. Watching her every move, her every facial expression. But as she took the last bite though, her drowsy eyes collided with his own. Eyes that lacked energy, strength, life, and maliciousness. They were cold, they were dead.

She whipped the access condiments from her mouth with the sleeve of her hoodie and pried her vision from the hold of his.

    "U-uh...thank you."

      His eyes were piercing jewels.

       " what for?"

She stared down at her fumbling fingers. " For the food."

"You shouldn't be thanking me. I haven't brought any good Delilah." His voice was out of rhythm just like his motions, which tensed.

She understood that he was right, but that experience was the most normal one she's had in a while and she wanted to be grateful. She strives to think positive but she felt selfish for worrying about her situation. There are people who were in greater danger, in worse conditions than her right now....she was just being selfless. Silence forced its way to settle, which engorged them with thick tension and as much as Delilah longed to avoid his burning stare, it was inevitable.

Even though she was still held hostage and in danger, she believed things were going to better, as long as she was living, there was hope...well that was until she thought of those very words, pain demolished inside of her, sweat blanketed her face as her eyes mirrored her vision. She was seeing two Isaac's now and the pain she was encountering was just so intolerable to describe. She pulled her body out of the booth and carried her figure with her limited upper body strength.

Isaac rushed out of his seat and his eyebrows furrowed. "What's wrong?"

She inhaled and exhaled trying to compose herself as well as her posture. "I'm okay I just really need to use the bathroom." She lied, she felt like her lower abdomen was being pushed through a meat processor. She tried her best to walk as normal as she possibly could but she heard his heavy footsteps behind her.

She cautiously turned to face his still confused persona. "Look, If you're worried about me running away don't because I won't. Just let me use the bathroom."Her voice was quite hesitant.

His gaze tensed and his lips pressed up into a thin line. "But-"

          "Let me use the bathroom....alone."

She turned back in her former direction, wincing at every step she took that caused her excruciating pain until she got to the restroom and pushed herself against the murky sink in support. As Delilah peeled her shirt up so did a scream of agony. Her eyes trailed down to the pain, her wound was drowned by a red sea of blood. She panicked and reached for the nearest help she could find to stop the bleeding. Wrapping toilet paper around her torso in cautious movements, she knew it wouldn't stop the flow but at least it would slow it down. But before she could finish tying the last fragments, two gunshots were heard, followed by scared screams of the innocent and so did the bathroom door soaring shut. It was Isaac with a panicked expression.

"Come on we got to go." His words were rushed.

               "Wait-"

"I said let's go ...NOW..." He stopped dead in his tracks with complete and utter worry washing over him.

Her physical pain and tired state were weighing her down. She couldn't even breathe for a minute alone. But her life was in double the danger at this precise moment which meant she had to obey Isaac's words so another danger wouldn't be added.

His footsteps proceeded with the beat of her heart until his figure stood just a yard away. "They are here! Do you want to die?" He was now infuriated, knuckles whitening at the tightness of his fists.

She quickly zipped up her hoodie, preventing him from seeing the cause of her distress, there was already too much going on, another distraction wasn't an option at this point. Though she didn't understand how he didn't see beat red spots of blood on her, might have been the adrenaline and wryness rushing through his veins. "How are we going to get out of here, if they're already in the diner?

His eyes drifted into the nothingness of space. How were they going to escape? There was no escape. "We're fucked, we...are...FUCkED!" His hands swung at no object in particular. They were going to be the cause of the death of dozens including themselves if no action would be taken as soon as possible.

She tried to remain as patient and held to self-control as possible, her eyes trailed up and down, to every inch of the public bathroom, trying to come up with any speck of an idea, until her vision settled upon a window. The window was small but wide enough for a body to pass through. She couldn't believe that windows have led her to her escape once again....just that last time she was shot and almost died of blood loss, but the difference now was that there was no option in being caught.

Her current fear had numbed her pain, she pulled herself to the window and started back down at Isaac. "Look there is a window, help me get up." She breathed out.

He held his interlaced fingers low, as she stepped on his hands his force pushed her up. To their luck, the window opened smoothly allowing her to cautiously pass her figure through their source of escape. She landed on her feet with a whimper of pain following.

"Come on, Isaac let's go." Her words were rushed and said in gasps.

His eyes held dullness. "I can't."

"What are you talking about? Come on Isaac." She demanded.

"I can't, the windows too small for me." He grunted and rubbed his face in frustration.

"Just run! Here are the car keys. I want you to go to the back of the diner in ten minutes." His voice seemed calm but his eyes said otherwise.

      "Bu-"

"Don't contradict me, Delilah, now go and do as I say if you want to get out of here alive!" He screamed at her in a demanding manner that rose the hairs of her necks and paralyzed her spine. She felt like a desperate and intimidated pup.

The keys rattled in her fingers, which reflected her fear. "Okay."

He sighed heavily and a weird outlandish grin appeared on his lips but she didn't question his features at all, she was too busy fleeing from the diner and searching for the car. Once her eyes landed on the car; her legs raced towards it. Adrenaline was rushing through her veins so was her thoughts and worry about all those innocent people...who would die...die because of her.

Tears rolled down her cheeks. She took in a deep and shaky breath. Why were these things happening to her? Why to those innocent people? She didn't want to accept her honest truth...she was a flame, a flame which started a fire; one she couldn't stop from spreading.

Five minutes have passed, she was now tugging and digging her slender fingers into her scalp, because of her the cop from the motel was dead and so was... Isaac's mom. She whimpered and lunged at the steering wheel until bruises painted her knuckles.

"This is my fault this is all my fault."Sobs left her tense throat once more.

....Ten minutes have passed, Delilah's head was blanketed in her own blood, at how tense her fingers buried its way into her head trying to strain out the bitter thoughts. She felt mentally sick... Wiping her tears away she backed away from the parking space and slowly neared the back of the now dead silent dinner. Seconds turned to minutes and minutes turned to an eerie impatiences and hopelessness but those feelings faded a bit at the sight of Isaac, who approached the vehicle... but as soon as that wryness left her something else replaced it...something tenser, a more gut tightening feeling.

Delilah maneuvered her body to the passenger's seat as he took the position on the driver's seat. Her eyes wouldn't dare leave his figure, one which was soaked in crimson...so were his eyes, eyes which held a sinister glare that committed to no good at all. Just pure evilness.

        "What have you done?!"
