So there is it, short but don't worry I'll surprise y'all.

Happy reading

"Miss, the second meeting with the president's daughter is in an hour" Victoria informed Khadijah who was sitting with a sketch book, she nodded not looking up.

"Thank you" she closed the book and picked her phone to order an Uber, her car was with the mechanic something she didn't care to know what spoilt, it was giving her problems and making disturbing sounds.

The driver would be there in twenty minutes so she sat back and texted Layla to meet her after her meeting at the same restaurant, they haven't seen each other since the weekend with her family.

Khadijah looked around the dark themed restaurant, there wasn't much people there and she liked it a bit but it still didn't stop her from being on edge, she wished she'd told Layla to meet her before her meeting with the president's daughter, who was late by the way.

She ordered her second cup of black coffee and sighed, if she knew she wasn't going to show up early she shouldn't have bothered calling her, she hated people that weren't punctual.

"Excuse me, is this seat taken?" She jumped a little when she heard a man's voice, controlling her fast heartbeat she nodded, she'd refrained from telling him it wasn't an event or school where seats were taken.

She'd thought he left not bothered enough to look up.

"Well, hello"

He didn't seem like someone who would give up, she looked up and mustered the most uninterested and annoyed look she could.

"Hi" it sounded like a 'leave me alone, you're in my personal space' but he didn't seem to notice that.

"I saw you sitting alone, thought who would keep a beautiful lady like yourself waiting" she fought an eye roll and turned back to her coffee which was already getting cold.

"Not much of a talker, got it, I wouldn't want to disturb your alone time, can you please give me your number? We can have coffee sometime or something" he sounded unsure at the end, she didn't look up when she replied.

"I'm married" it was a total lie but it kept men away and she was fine with it. She'd always shuddered after uttering those words, it sounded so foreign and bitter to her but that was the only thing that'll keep her from Falling into the same situation.

"Oh, I'm so sorry" he sighed defeated and left her alone.

"I'm so sorry I'm late, there was a little traffic and I kind of fell asleep after arriving, thank you for waiting"
Khadijah fought the urge to thank Allah loudly, she couldn't wait to finish with whatever it was the lady wanted to adjust.....again, instead she nodded without uttering a word.

Like their first meeting, Nasmir Babangida Muhammad, some call her the first daughter but she found it rather bogus and unnecessary because she was not the first child of the president, she didn't voice it though, it could be considered hate speech against the country's beloved first daughter.

She could recall the other three ladies with her, her sister, Aisha, Azeerah her best friend and Maryam, her friend and soon to be sister in-law.

"Where should we start?" Khadijah brought out her sketch book where she had started the rough sketch for the dinner gown.

"Oh right, so Zeerah thought instead of a plain mermaid gown, it should have a cape-"

"-Yes like from the waist downwards" the said Azeerah cut in looking Khadijah in the eye.

"For which gown?" she went through all the designs mentally, there were two mermaid gowns, a ball gown and different Ankaras she couldn't recall all but the ones for the main event and it didn't add up or make sense to add cape anywhere, out of courtesy she listened, it was her wedding and whatever messed up clothes she wanted, she got.

"The dinner gown, the white one" Khadijah rolled her eyes at the best friend again.

"It has a veil, doesn't it?" she nodded "Okay, let see here" she picked a pencil and drew a bit on her sketchpad then turned it to the bride to be "See, if it's a mermaid gown with a train and your veil is going to be long, adding a cape would make it too crowdy, do you get it?" she pointed at the bottom of the page where the different trains looked to be tangled.

"It doesn't look attractive at all" Maryam exclaimed in disdain and the others agreed.

"It's either you change it to a straight gown or remove the train from the gown and add the cape, the veil will still look fine longer vertically or by the sides"

"True, but I really wanted her to have a gown with cape, it's the latest trend now" Azeerah whined making Khadijah look at her questionably, she didn't understand the girl.

"Ya Nasmir, the white gown should be how you planned it, the one for the cocktail party can have a cape, I think it'll look better if the train sweeps the stairs to the stage, we can get a good picture right there" Aisha talked for the first time since they got there, so far she's Khadijah's favourite.

"What do you think? You know best" Nasmir turned to her and she nodded, she was about to say something when Azeerah squealed making her jump a little at the sound.

"Zeerah, my ear" her best friend eyed her.

"Shhhhhh, right there Fahad Abubakar Barkindo, how do I look?" she asked adjusting her small veil, She did a 180 degree turn and looked at her pallazo pants tucking the turtle neck back in, she picked the jacket she dropped and draped it over her shoulder "I'll go talk to him"

She was about to turn when her best friend dragged her making her sit forcefully, Khadijah looked at the two friends that were glaring at each other, she was surprised their little scene didn't draw attention.

"Do you even know him personally?"

"Yes, he worked with daddy for a project so he was coming in to the company frequently, we've talked a few times, let me go say hi" Nasmir allowed her to go and refrained from telling her he's her soon to be husband's friend and he would be at the wedding, she would go over the top with everything if she knew, so she chose silence for her own peace, it wasn't her wedding anyways.

"Can we continue, I have an appointment in fifteen minutes"

She listened to the bride rant about the fittings for a few more minutes when a deep voice cut in.

"Good day ladies"

"Fahad, how are you? I didn't know you were in town" Nasmir smiled picking the cup of the tea she didn't bother looking at since when the waitress kept it, Azeerah stood beside him like a bodyguard, a short timid bodyguard at that.

"I'm fine alhamdullillah, how are the preparations going?" he asked his eyes on their companion who's head was bowed.

"Stressful but we'll pull through Insha Allah"

"Ya Sa'id has been talking about you missing his wedding, should we expect a ghost out?" Maryam looked at the tall man with a smile to which he just chuckled, he was planning on that.

Khadijah couldn't understand why they were all smiling at him if anything she was already sick of his presence, if he would just leave and allow her to finish her work in peace, she checked the time on her phone and inwardly groaned, where's Layla when she needed her?

"Ya Nasmir, we should get going the driver is back" they started getting up conversing with the man, who was still there for a reason unknown to her, they muttered their goodbyes to Khadijah before walking out together like they came.

"I didn't get your name"

She looked at him with a 'you're still here look' and nodded.

"Can you tell me then?" he sent her a charming smile, he wasn't the type to ponder on girls reaction to him but he knew that smile was a game ender, imagine his shock she Her expression remained sombre.

"Have I seem you somewhere?" she realised he wouldn't stop with the questions unless she answer she mumbled a silent No.

Contrary to her answer, he could swear he'd seen her somewhere, he sat opposite her where Nasmir was and she shifted uncomfortably, he squinted looking at her closely then it clicked.

"Girlfriend" Khadijah released a breath she didn't know she was holding and thanked the almighty for sending Layla at the right moment, with her unnecessary announcement of her arrival but she couldn't care less about it, she was so happy she was there.

"Who is th-hey hamma you're still around?" she turned to the man who sat back relaxed now, things just got better for him.

"Obviously shorty, didn't Jabir tell Mamie I'm coming to greet her specially?" the third party looked at the two easily conversing she might not know a word in Fulani but she knew hamma meant elder brother and she also knew all Layla's brothers, so who was this? She thought absentmindedly tapping her fingers on her closed sketchbook.

"Hamma stop calling me that" Layla groaned annoyed at the stupid nickname while he laughed at her expense, a shrill sound of a cellphone broke off his laughter, he looked at the screen and sighed.

"We'll talk later Layla, I have a meeting and nice to meet you....you still didn't tell me your name"

"Dee, now go please"

He chuckled at his cousin's response and left with a small smile hoping he'll meet the Dee again, what type of name that was, he didn't ponder on it for long, at least he had a name and that would be something to hold on to.

"You know him?" Khadijah asked her best friend who was already placing her order.

"Yes, he's my cousin and Jawad's friend" she finished scrolling through her phone, her mother sent her an invitation "Ugh, why me?"

"What's up?"

"Mamie is making me go to Nasmir's wedding, because and I quote 'we are friends'" she said the last part with a different tone.

"Your mum doesn't sound like that" Khadijah let out a small laugh

"Please come with me, I might die if I stay there alone, pretty cute shiny please" she made puppy dog eyes to emphasize

"You're twenty five grow up"

"Yay, that's a yes, you're the best dee" she hugged her making her swallow her protest, all that was going through her mind was she had to spend more time with that Azeerah, heaven knew the girl annoyed her to bits.
