*Asher's pov*

Holy shit! Hazel was coming over today and after last night, I was not prepared.

I looked in my closet about twenty times to try and find a nice shirt. I decided on a white long sleeved shirt with my black Led Zeppelin t-shirt. I cuffed my light jeans and put on my black converse.

I paced back and forth as I thought about what happened last night. Hazel was on top of me. And who knew that Spiderman shorts could be so hot?! Not that I thought Hazel looked hot...

"Hey, Asher. We're leaving. Go downstairs with Ava. Hazel's going to be here soon. Bye!" My mom said quickly as she stuck her head in my room. Her and my dad blasted out of the house to get out of there.

I descended down the stairs to find Ava deep in a bowl of Lucky Charms.

"Ava, no! You know you're not supposed to eat that! You already have three cavities!" I scolded her as I tried to pry it from her hands.

"Mom and Dad aren't here, so it doesn't count!" Ava put her hand on my cheek to push me away, squishing my face.

We struggled with each other for a few more seconds until the doorbell rang and we froze. I ran to the nearest mirror and fixed my hair from our little quarrel.

I ran over to the door and opened it casually, leaning against the door frame and grinning. This was only a facade, on the inside I was flipping out.

Hazel was standing there and smiling up at me. I had a brain fart.

The next thing I said kinda sounded like crazy gibberish. I choked on my own words.

Hazel's eyes widened and she looked alarmed. "Are you okay?! What happened?!" She stepped over the threshold and started jumping around the house.

She was looking behind furniture and walls for something. "Did a few secret ninja spies break in and change the wiring in your brain to speak their weird ninja language?!"

Then she walked over to me where I stood dumbstruck, grabbed my face, leaned in and shouted,"IT'S OKAY! I'LL GET YOU OUT OF THERE! I JUST HAVE TO FIND THE NINJAS AND FORCE THEM TO CHANGE YOU BACK!" She spoke slowly and enunciated every word carefully as if I were a different species.

Then my brain finally started working. I put my hands over hers and removed them from my face, but I didn't let go of them.

I scrunched my face and said,"N-no! No. No spy ninjas came and changed my language. Where do you get these ideas?" I laughed softly.

She laughed and shook her head. "I know, I was messing with you. But why were you talking like that?" She tilted her head to the side like a confused puppy. Goddammit! Wait... How did I answer that?

As I struggled to come up with a logical excuse, Ava interjected from her place at the table,"You made him nervous."

She looked at Ava with wide eyes. "Why would I make him nervous??"

Then an idea kicked into my head and I butted myself back into the conversation. "Because! I was nervous that you would have a hard time helping me with Ava. You know, since she's such a little devil." I looked over at her and smiled through gritted teeth.

"Hey!" Ava yelled defensively from the table with a mouth full of Lucky Charms.

Hazel looked back at me and laughed. "It's okay. I have six brothers and one of them's her age. I think I can handle her."

I closed the front door behind me and ushered Hazel to sit on the couch.

"So...uh, you want some breakfast?" I asked next to her as I scratched the back of my neck nervously.

"Oh, sure! I didn't know you could cook." She grabbed my arm and pulled me up, dragging me to the kitchen.

"So, what shall we make, Chef Grey?" Hazel said in a funny accent and saluted me.

"How about pancakes, Chef Ambrielle?" I pretended to rub a non-existent moustache while arching my eyebrow.

We took out all the ingredients to make pancakes. As we mixed the batter, things got.... Dirty.

Not that kind of dirty, you dirty minded freaks.

I stood at the counter mixing the batter. Hazel went behind me, scooped two of her fingers into the batter, and covered my nose with it. "Boop!" She said and started laughing.

Oh she really did it now... I scooped my whole hand in and covered her cheeks with batter. I started laughing my ass off while she pouted at me.

She scooped up batter with both of her hands and dumped it onto my hair.

"Hey!" I whined since she ruined my hair and it would be extremely hard to get the mix out.

I pinned her down on the floor and grabbed the bowl of batter. She squirmed under me to try to avoid whatever fate was coming her way. I picked up the bowl, turned it upside down, and dumped the entire mix over her head and torso. A little bit got on my legs since I was on top of her, but she was drenched.

"Asher!" She yelled as she tried to get the stuff off of her, but it did nothing. "I can't see. My glasses are all covered!" Then she grabbed the hem of my shirt and used it to wipe her glasses until she could kind of see through them.

We both looked at each other for a few seconds and started laughing. The , tension started building up when we realized the position we were in.

I was hovering over her with my hands pinning her arms down. We were both breathing heavily from the adrenaline.

"Princess?"

"Yeah, Muffin?"

"You've got batter right there."

"I've got batter all over me." She laughed, though she still looked nervous.

"Yeah, but, in that specific spot." I furrowed my eyebrows as I stared at it.

"Where?!" She wiped at her face to try to get any spots with batter but her face was still completely covered.

I put my thumb on her lips and caressed the bottom of her chin. "Right here." I said as I slowly leaned down. She softly gasped as I got closer.

I paused as our lips brushed against each other, and then I crashed mine onto hers. She was stunned at first, but quickly melted into the kiss.

She put her hands on my cheeks as I tangled my hands through her hair. Some batter got into my mouth from hers, but getting salmonella was worth it.

The kiss deepened and I moved my hands from her hair to her waist. Then, we slowly pulled away.

I stayed hovering over her as we looked at each other, trying to catch our breath. The air was still.

"That was my first-" She whispered, but interrupted herself. Her eyes widened and she was looking at something behind me.

"Where's Ava?!" She asked in a panicked voice. I turned behind me to find that the chair she was sitting in was empty.

Fear crossed my face and I got off of Hazel. I helped her up before we raced around the house to look for my little sister.

Finally, we found her in her bed watching Beauty and the Beast.

We stood in the doorway with surprise stricken faces. "Where did you go?" I asked Ava.

"You guys were having a moment and I was getting kinda bored. Sorry if you had to stop to look for me. I didn't mean to cockblock you." She shrugged and pulled her blanket up higher.

"Ava!! You can't just say words like that!" I gasped dramatically.

"What? You mean like cockblock?" She tilted her head to the side.

I yelled in frustration. "Yes! That's a fucking bad word! Don't say that shit!"

Hazel glanced at me and tried to suppress a laugh. "You just said two bad words."

I looked away with my arms crossed. "Shut up." I mumbled.

She quietly laughed to herself. "Okay."

"Well, can you leave me to my own devices now?" Ava asked, tapping her fingers on the remote control.

"Oh, uh sure." I grabbed Hazel's wrist and pulled her out of Ava's room.

As I was about to close the door, Ava asked,"Also, why are you guys covered in pancake mix?!"

I rubbed the back of my neck. "Um, long story. We were-"

"Yeah, don't want to hear it, actually." Ava interrupted and put her hand up, signalling me to stop talking.

Rolling my eyes, I closed the door and dragged Hazel back downstairs.

We ended up making scrambled eggs, instead. I could tell we were both kind feeling kind of after my bold move.

I turned off the stove and turned to Hazel. "Look. I'm really sorry. I really shouldn't have done that. I regret it." I sighed and ran my hand through my hair.

Her face fell and she looked down. "Y-yeah. Me too. It's okay, though. It's not your fault. Anyone in that position would do the same thing." She said quietly.

Did I say something wrong??

"Yeah. So can we stop being awkward and go back to normal?" I nudged her side and smiled suggestively. "How about it, Princess?"

She tried to conceal a smile and folded her arms as she looked away. "Okay, fine."

"That's my Princess!" I exclaimed as I lifted her up into my arms and spun her around. She yelped and held onto the neck of my shirt.

Once she calmed down, she looked at me. "Just one more thing before we stop being awkward."

I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. Then I realized what she was meant when she leaned forward and kissed me softly. I was caught by surprise, but quickly kissed back to savor the moment before it ended. She pulled away and I looked at her with raised eyebrows.

"Hey. What can I say? Kissing feels nice." She laughed as I put her down. I felt dumbstruck, but that usually happened when you kissed someone.

The rest of that Friday was spent with the two of us watching movies on the couch and Hazel screaming at the dumb decisions the characters made. I laughed at her as she got all fired up.

Thinking back on what happened earlier... I didn't actually regret kissing her. She just didn't seem like she liked it so I tried to play it off. I think I did the right thing.

Right?
