THIRD PERSON'S POV.

There were other places Caspian would rather be than here drinking whiskey with old men who had nothing better to do than assess his life and the way he does things but he preferred this to out there with all the people trying to talk to him.

His wife was under the watch of Lincoln and according to the latest text he got, she was quite comfortable with Bianca. Caspian was a little sceptical to trust Katherine with Lincoln but unlike what others knew about Lincoln, Caspian knew that his Katherine couldn't be safer.

Caspian silently sipped on his drink and acted absentminded but he was listening and watching. He may not be willing to entertain these men but sometimes they were onto something. He was always watching and always listening.

"I heard how easily you accquired Robert's company." One of the old men said. Matthews Signfield

Caspian didn't bother to give a reply.
This men were always trying to get a reaction from him, they were fascinated with him for some reason and Caspian had to seat through it because of his father. On the better side of things, some of these men mouth loosens up a little after few glasses of whiskey and these are powerful men with as much Influence as his father. Caspian was not willing to form an alliance, he always seek to have the upper hand, always.

"You know, he's a good friends of mine." The man continued.

Caspian knew that but he wasn't ready to indulge the man.

"It's impressive how you took his company right from under him before he could even blink."

"He served it to me on a silver platter why wouldn't I." Caspian spoke for the first time since they gathered.

At first all of them talked about Florence Montgomery. Caspian had listened to them. Although Caspian had never met her, he has heard all about her and he knew all about her. They were similar in some ways and he could see that they might have gotten along together but she's dead and Caspian wasn't planning on joining her anytime soon.

"He did, didn't he?" Matthews has always been intrigued with Caspian. He wished he had a son like him. The truth was that all of them seated here wishes that their son was more like Caspian Montgomery. Authur's son was a business prodigy when he was young. He had the wits, the smarts and the cunning since he was a child and he had the heart to handle it and when he grew his power just grew more.

Some of them in the room could see themselves in Caspian, but they knew he was more than they could have ever dreamed of. Authur Montgomery raised his son to be strong enough to make the Montgomerys empire grow. But that didn't mean that they feel threatened by him.

Caspian Montgomery has no regard for anyone and he does not fear anyone. He is a man with the power and connection. A man with a power like his left unchecked would be more of a threat than he is now. But they couldn't help but wish that the future of their empires was in his hands.

"Yes. It was a mistake for him to put his business in inexperienced and immature hands." Another grey haired man interjected.

"But I don't believe that they would have fallen apart that fast." Matthews eyed Caspian suspiciously.

"Are you accusing my son of something? Matthews." Authur interfered this time. Of course he knew that his son did something but these men were already threatened by his son, he didn't want to give them another reason to. It could lead to paranoia and paranoid people tends to do dangerous things, he was more worried of what his son would do if this men acted on those paranoid feelings.

"I don't know Authur am I?" Mathews challenged.

Caspian's lips rose in a smirk at the little subtle challenge of power going on right now. Caspian was well aware of what Matthews thought of him, as well as every other old bastard seating down right now. He honestly couldn't be bothered but no one should openly challenge Authur Montgomery, especially in his own home. Caspian was dangerous but he picked after someone. Everyone knew that and victor knew that for certain and it was the reason he immediately interfered.

"What Caspian do is up to him to know, is it not?" And others immediately agreed with him not willing to aggravate the matter anymore but Caspian on the other hand was just getting to have fun and if there's one thing about Caspian, it's that he doesn't let things go.

"I can tell you what I did if you want." Caspian's voice lowered down several octave and he brought his glass to his lips but not taking a sip amd his eyes didn't leave Matthews.

Victor sighed internally, he should have known better than thinking that Caspian would just let it go. He and Authur exchanged a look and Authur knew his son very well. The moment Matthews had insinuated that Caspian might have done something, Caspian wasn't going to let it go.

Matthews knew that Caspian was giving him an option but if Matthews had gathered any lesson from experience throughout his life, it is that men like Caspian don't give options. They do things to go their own way.

"I mean, it's clear that Roberts company didn't just come crashing down so fast even though he left it at the hands of imbeciles." Matthews answered carefully. If one has gained experience from life for more than sixty years, one knew how to tread carefully.

"The imbeciles were the one who crashed the company." Caspian paused "But they were taking their precious time. Time is of value to me, I never waste it."

An outsider might find his answers vague and unclear but the men understood nice and clear. Very clear. Caspian couldn't help the smirk on his lips at their expressions.

Authur wasn't surprised, his son took after him than he would like to admit and Authur had always taken after his mother but he wasn't as smart and as good as she was, but Caspian is and more.

*****

Katherine didn't want this but Verona on the other hand was ready to show her dominance, therefore undermining her in front of the entire high society. Then Caspian would see that his wife was below his standing.

"Let's go Katherine." Bianca suggested and before Katherine could agree she was interrupted.

"You don't deserve him, you do know that right?" Verona mocked. "Trapping him with a bastard pregnancy is an old trick one that would fade soon."

Katherine could feel her anger rising as Verona called her children bastards.

"Be careful what you say Verona, I'm not above kicking you out." Bianca snarled ready to snap a neck.

"And who are you kicking out?" An icy voice came and Bianca glared at her cousin who catwalked towards them as she glared at the group. "It seems you've grown claws Bianca. Verona is my guest and you have no right to throw her out of my house."

Verona smiled at the sight of a very reliable backup, now her presence on the Montgomery estate was justified and no one can make her leave.

"If there is anyone we should throw out of here, it's this bitch." Natalie pointed her pink nailed finger at Katherine.

"Nat, watch it. She's your sister-in-law." Miles warned for her sake. If Caspian knows of this Natalie wouldn't be spared easily.

"No she's isn't. She's a gold digging bitch trying to worm her way into this family and it's baffling that none of you can see that."

"No. What is baffling is that you would side with someone like Verona, who is clearly just using you." Lana might be quiet and softhearted but she could clearly see that Natalie is just a tool for Verona.

Lincoln almost punched himself in the face at the sight before him when he entered the ball room again. He had gone to take a call but when he was coming back he was held up several times by women who wanted a piece of him. Lincoln persuaded himself that it wasn't his fault that he was a Greek god reincarnation and everyone wanted a piece of him. Well, maybe not everyone per say.

"What's going on here Ladies?" Lincoln charmingly intervened as he wrapped his arm around the fuming Bianca's shoulders.

"Oh, hey Nat. Vee." Lincoln greeted acting like he just noticed their presence. "Isn't it great that all of you guys are here?" Lincoln could see that this was barely working.

"You come from a family of gold diggers. I mean have you seen the way your mom has been acting since she got here. She looks like a dirty rat that got into a pantry. I'm sure the apple doesn't fall far from trees, your slut of a sister too. Why don't you give your bastards back to whoever begger their real father is" Natalie continued.

Verona was glad, she was able to kill two birds with one stone. She is able to undermine and humiliate Katherine and the person doing the it was not her but Natalie, so she won't get much heat if this backfires.

Although a lot of people were watching the interaction, a lot of people also couldn't hear what they were saying. But they were trying to read their facial expressions. Only those close enough to them could make out some of what they were saying

"Natalie!" Now some more people could make out what Bianca said. Lincoln pulled her back immediately as the little girl with high pink heels wanted to launch herself at her cousin.

Katherine had never pegged herself a fighter. She preferred things quiet and simple but that didn't mean that she was gullible and stupid. Katherine had a limit and the two witches in front of her were pushing it hard.

When you spend so many years with a trouble maker like one's best friend, you pick up one or two or a hundred habits and Katharine had one of the most troublesome friend there is.

"I don't know if I made a bad impression on you but can you do yourself a favor and don't insult my kids." Katherine kept a smile on her lips throughout her sentence.

Melinda almost let out happy tears at the sight in front of her, although they were several feets apart, Melinda could see her daughter interacting with the Montgomery siblings but she would have preferred it if her daughter didn't include her husband's ex-wife. Melinda didn't like her presence there today. Her daughter was Caspian's wife and the mother of his unborn kids, Melinda assured herself that Verona posed no threat to her daughter's position, so she went ahead mingling and laughing with the women of the upperclass.

"I'm surprised, the wife can talk herself." Verona smiled at Natalie's taunt. "Are you scared there were m going to expose your children for the bastard that they are."

Katherine clenched and unclenched her fist. Not a lot of people knows this about her but Katherine had a nasty temper and angry Katherine was bad Katherine. Only Hunter and Carolina have really seen angry Katherine.

"You know Natalie." Kathrine came closer. "There are one thousand and one ways to shut you up."

Everyone was taken aback by Katherine's attitude. She was always gentle and quiet and kind but that is always often mistaken for stupidity and gullibility. Carolina had loved the one thousand way to shut line so much since the first time angry Katherine had said it there It became Carolina go to line when someone was annoyingly running their mouth. It's the only reason why Katherine even remembers it

Lincoln has only ever dealt with sweet Katherine. He has no experience with mama bear Katherine. He needed backup more like The backup. He took out his phone and typed.

Verona was mistaken. She had thought Caspian's wife to be timid and naive but she clearly isn't.

"I'll forgive you for what you said and forget it but I don't give out second chances easily." Katherine warned. She could accept any insult on herself but her kids were innocent and she'll never stand and let someone insult them.

"And Miss Verona." Katherine turned to the Ex-wife. Who now bothered her more than anything, but she wouldn't just give in after a few insults. "I don't appreciate your comments on my marriage. Whether I deserve Caspian or not, HE IS ALREADY MINE." Katherine said the last part slowly and placed careful emphasis on it so it would sink.

"Really?" A monotoned hard familiar voice asked, making Katherine still.

Shit. He heard me claim him now didn't he?
Katherine swallowed the strong urge to slap herself.

Everyone else looked at him nervously and Natalie moved a few steps back internally smacking herself for not noticing earlier. She held in her breath expecting his worse but nothing came

Katherine felt his arms around around her waist into him.

"H-Hey Caspian." Kathrine racked her head for what she should say next.

Your ex-wife annoyed me that's why I claimed you? No
They insulted me and I could not just do anything? No
Your sister called my kids bastard? No.

None of those answers felt wise. Katherine didn't like Natalie but she wasn't going to tell Caspian what she said about his kids.

"You should continue."

"C-Continue what?"

"I believe you were staking your claim on me before i interrupted."

"I-i-i-y-you." Katherine huffed at her lack of words, he was enjoying this. But more importantly he had he arms wrapped around her in a ballroom filled with people. Katherine tried to free herself but his hold just tightened.

Everyone else in the small gathered group tried to look away but they couldn't. Bianca on the other hand was happily staring at them with dreamy eyes while Miles was watching with surprise at his brother open affection.

"Caspian." Katherine whispered, her face turning red under the unwavering gaze of others but she knew that Caspian couldn't care less.

"Yes, you were saying something about me being yours." His lips went closer to her ears sending chills down her spine.

"I-i-i just-" before she could say anything he twirled her around to face him. He placed his fingers under her chin to make her look at him. His face neared hers until they were inches apart.

"People are staring." She whispered.

"I don't care." He muttered dismissively wrapping his arms around her and pulling her into him.

Elizabeth immediately headed to the ball room, she and her friends had been chatting in a private room when news had spread of her son's open affection. Her eyes melted softly at the sight of both of them. She couldn't help but imagine more than six to seven grandchildren.

"Hmm. This is surprising." Authur walked to his wife's side.

"Isn't it wonderful?" Elizabeth answered in a dreamy voice, clasping her hands together and gazing with starry eyes. Authur knew that it was no use talking to his wife now, she was already pulled into the wonderland.

Verona couldn't believe the sight in front of her. Caspian is not the affectionate type, he doesn't even believe in useless emotions let alone publicly displaying affections to Katherine. She wanted to scream and tear everything apart and she had already began the process in her head. Caspian would never do something like this, she convinced herself. It was because of the children. She told herself.
It was because of the bastard kids that her Caspian was doing this, nothing else.

"I'm waiting Mrs Montgomery. You were staking your claim on me."

"We are in public." Katherine felt like it was useless trying to reason with him.

"You did stake a claim on me in public . I'm only following your lead."

Katherine wanted to wipe the smirk off his face and the amused look in his eyes. "Since when do you follow anyone's lead."

"Since I stared enjoying this." He admitted his amusement.

"Get yourself a room." Lincoln said breaking the trance between the two.

"Good idea." Caspian pulled away. He held Katherine's hand . "We're leaving." Then he led her out of the hall leaving an awed spectator behind.

"What just happened?" Lana asked breaking from her surprised trance.

"History sis. History." Miles answered and Bianca nodded in agreement.
