“Does it matter what color beads we get?” Blake asked as they browsed the jewelry aisle in search for what Emily claimed the perfect options.

“Yes. You wouldn't give a girl you like just any random piece of jewelry, would you?” Emily retorted picking up some glass beads and examining them under the light. They gave off enough sparkle for her to toss them in the basket before she moved on to the next color.

“No, I would take her to the store and have her pick out whatever she wanted.” Blake defended tossing a box of neon beads into the basket. Emily raised an eyebrow at his actions causing him to shrug and take the basket away. It wasn't until almost an hour later that they finally were able to leave the store along with two shopping bags full of miscellaneous items.

“I have a question for you” Blake stated as he drove them to the day care, Emily looked over at him with a confused  look. “How were you going to get the kids home if you don't have car seats for them?”

Emily eyes widen in realization and she glanced behind her, sure enough, two car seats were safely strapped to the back seat.

“I didn't even realize that, I was too excited to help Kenny that I forgot. I'm such a horrible person!” Emily exclaimed covering her face with her hands. Her reaction reminded Blake of her friend Claire on the day she and Daliah tried to parent them. Cute, but slightly over dramatic.

“Don't stress about it, the school has loner seats for emergency situations, you would have been fine. After you were done panicking, that is.” He teased signaling into the school lot. She let out a sigh of relief, her attention quickly going to all the the kids waiting by the front entrance.

“Do we need to get off?” She asked when Blake put the car in park. He simply shook his head and pointed to the school. A younger woman wearing khaki pants and a Polo shirt with the school logo was walking their way, in her arms she carried a sleepy looking Mila while Kenny walked backwards behind them.

“If that kid falls I'm going to laugh.” Blake stated in a flat voice. They watched as the group got closer, and Blake finally got out of the car when they were only a few feet away. Taking Mila from the teacher her placed her in her car seat and waited for Kenny to finish waving his good byes.

“Bye Kennyny!” A voice called out as the boy got into the car, Kenny rolled the window down the moment the door closed behind him and stuck his head out.

“Bye Aubey! See you tomorrow!” He waved as the car drove away. Blake rolled his eyes and Emily stole a look at the little girl in question. She really was cute or as Kenny had put her “pretty” her red hair looked like a shining sea of golden red curls.

“Emmy! Are we going on another date?” Kenny asked with a cheeky smile. Blake's constant mumbling and Emily laughter filled the car ride back home.

“I want it to be really shiny. Like so shiny she needs glasses to see it” Kenny stated as he and Emily continued threading beads. So far the duo had managed to make three different bracelets, one for each of Kenny’s moms and one for Claire. “Do you think she will like it?” He asked as they put the final clasp in place. In his hands Kenny held a navy and gold beaded bracelet, separating the colored beads was a clear cut glass bead that gave the bracelet the expensive look he was going for.

“She's going to love it, let's make you one with the same colors that way you guys can have matching ones.”  He egerly nodded at her suggestion and they got back to work, ignoring Blake's constant cries for attention.

“Uncle Blake! Are you finished yet?” The boy asked looking over to where his uncle was struggling to tie a knot. Blake grumbled his reply before holding up the rainbow string of beads that the boy simply snatched and ran off with, leaving him alone to finish dinner.

“Look Uncle Blake made you a bracelet! But he's too shy to give it to you, so he told me to give you this and tell you it's from your boyfriend.”  Kenny stated shocking Emily.

“Oh, well thank you. And...uh here give this to your uncle and tell him it's from his new girlfriend.” She handed the boy a black and green bracelet that would probably never fit around Blake's wrist, but considering that he did just asked her out she figured she should reply in a timely manner.

Kenny took the present and ran back to the kitchen where his uncle was now making sandwiches for dinner. Giving him a scrunched up nose at the idea of sandwiches, Kenny handed the bracelet and left without saying a word. Blake shrugged it off as they boy dropping off another bracelet that needed tying and continued making sandwiches, while keeping an eye on Mila who was sitting in her highchair and tossing  cereal across the kitchen.

Two arms appeared around his waist and the felling of a body pressing itself against him made him tense.

“Hello boyfriend, I see you took the liberty of making us dinner” Emily's voice teased from behind him, setting down the final piece of bread he turned to face her. His arms alwrapped around her the moment they were completely face to face.

“Boyfriend? I like how that sounds, but I haven't asked you out.” He whispered leaning down to rest his forehead on hers.

“Don't be silly, I think it was cute how you sent the message with Kenny. You were super nervous when you were asking me to dinner, I figured this was an easier way for you to ask me to be your girlfriend.” Emily explained, while she spoke Blake tried to process the information he was given. Not once did he remember sending Kenny with a “Will you be my girlfriend” proposal, it was definitely something he wouldn't forget.

“Uhh...yeah...I...I didn't know how to ask you so I..um...I had Kenny do it for me” He finally stammered, “ But with you as my girlfriend that means I can do this whenever I want now.”  He pulled her closer to him their lips finally meeting again after a day away.

“Uncle Blake? Where do babies come from?” Kenny’s curious voice made them aware of their surroundings and quickly taking a step back Emily avoided answering the question by looking for drinks.

“Uhh, why do you need to know this, Kid?” Blake asked nervously, he had no children and even though he figured he would be giving the talk one day he never expected it to be so soon. He had nothing prepared, specially for a smart child like Kenny.

“Well Mommy said she wanted another baby, but Mamma said they had to call the bank. How much does a baby cost?” Blake paled even more, the child had overheard this mothers talking about a new child. Why did he have to do this?

“Well… no they don't necessarily buy a baby. But they uhh… they do need to make sure they have enough money to take care of one.” Blake explained trying to find a reasonable answer for a five year old. Emily placed a cup of juice in front of him and helped Kenny up on the stool, all the while avoiding being part of the discussions.

“Uhh, well you see. What happens is when two people love each other and they decide that they want to have a baby they, uhhm, they write to Santa. And if they are good people Santa sends them a baby.” Blake explained with a nervous laugh.

“But, Uncle Blake if Santa drops us off why is my birthday not Christmas?”
Blake let out an even more annoyed sigh, he was being tested by a child.

“Uhhh, well your parents decide when they want to celebrate your birthday” He reasoned, hoping it would please the boy.

“But Mom has  pictures of her with a big belly. She said that Mila and I were in there” Kenny stated with a challenging look. Blake gave Kenny a glare, which the boy returned with a smirk.

“My mom said that you need a boy and a girl, and that the boy donates his boy parts while the girls are actually the ones who do all the work and make the baby. Is this true? And who donated the boy parts for me, since she said you need a boy and a girl and both of my Moms are girls. They are both girls right? And how are twins made because Emmy said she had a twin, and that they were born on the same day. Are you going need to to give her more than one boy part so she can make two babies? Actually, she’s really smart so she can probably make them alone. Is that possible? And a boy in my class was talking about six, and how you need six to make a baby. But I don’t understand why you need a number. Do you have to give six boy parts? Did my Moms lie to me? Uncle Blake why are you turning red?” Kenny finally stopped his ramblings when he realized that his Uncle was turning the same shade red as the tomatoes he was picking from his sandwich. Something that meant he was embarrassed or angry, and judging way the thin layer of sweat that was forming on his brow the boy figured it was time to stop.

For his part Blake didn't know how to answer the question, he knew he would have to give this talk to his kids one day, yet he never expected it to be this early. Kenny was only five. Maybe Emily would have a better idea on how to handle the situation. Looking over at her for help he saw that she was ready to burst with laughter. A quick glare later, she was back to normal and rushing to his side.

“Kenny sweetheart it's not a number it just sounds like one, and when you get older to will understand. Ok? All you need to know about babies is that when two people love each other and they are ready they...uhmm they write to Santa like your uncle said and if they are good Santa sends them a baby.” Emily explained hoping the child would accept it as the truth for the time being. Kenny nodded happily and turned his attention back to his sandwich. Blake for his part let out a sigh of relief, grateful Emily had saved the day.

“Do you think Aubey and I me can write to Santa and ask for a baby?”

Blake groaned causing Emily to chuckle and pick up Mila from the high chair on her mad dash out of the kitchen.

“Just think of it as practice from when there's mini yous running around!” Emily teased from the living room. High pitched voices informed him that the television was now on and that he was all on his own.
