Am I the kind of girl you take home to your family? The kind of girl that gets the stamp of approval and gets to look through the guys baby pictures as he groans in embarrassment. Am I that kind of girl? To an extent, yes but then again I wasn't sure. Despite my colorful vocabulary, I could be. Growing up my Mom taught me manners how to be polite and primp. I knew how to eat with the right silver wear and sit with my back straighter than I rode. I knew etiquette, but for some reason I felt like maybe that was to much. That my debutante demeanor would come off as " bougie" or stuck up.

The Ralston Family

Was very different from my own. There living environment being the first obvious example. It was a 2 story white farm house with endless fields of the greenest grass I had ever seen with children running around it. One was at least 7 and wore a pink flowered sundress, the other was older, a tween in dirt-covered overalls and a white shirt underneath. Her long dark hair blew broadcasting her joyous smile and green braces as they chased the large Golden Shepard around the field. The front porch had a numerous amount of wind chimes that sung with the breeze and a swing bench. It was the kind of things you saw in movies. The blue sky, the beautiful home l modest yet, had enough room for the family.

We didn't go unnoticed.

As Jasper approached the home. Their eyes gleamed in excitement sprinting towards the car. Even Jasper wore a smile, the biggest one I had ever seen. I didn't get, why didn't he stay here with his sister? This place clearly had more to offer him then the east side.

My stomach turned and nerves scattered through my body.
With panic as I looked down at my outfit. My high waisted denim skirt hugged my thighs.

Is it to short?

I tried to go with a more causal look. A high waited denim skirt and and a red sweater with a pair of nude brown pumps. Along with a tennis bracelet wrapped around my wrist.

Sensing my nerves Jasper placed his large on on my exposed thigh tingles rushing down my body as he gave it a light squeeze. I looked at his eyes that where sincere and soothing.

" They'll love you."

I hope so.

The car came into park and Jasper stepped out of the car.

" Bubbaa!!" They screamed racing towards him both of them leaping into his arms. Jasper's laugh echoed in the sky as he wrapped his arms around his 2 sisters and spun around.

They adored him.

"Good to know I've been missed." He chuckled while putting them back on the ground.

" I'm so happy you're here. Nana's been dragging us to Bingo Hall every Tuesday." The older one said, I watched as her hands moved effortlessly also communicating in ASL as she spoke.

" I like it, last time we even won a..." The younger ones words trailed and her hands paused no longer using ASL as she thought the way to say the word in Sign Language.

" Laptop!" She chimes in excitement as she finally got it signing the word with enthusiasm her little fingers moving confidently. Jasper smiled proudly at his sisters advancement. " Good Job Minnie ." He praised ruffle her hair.

I unblocked my seat belt, and took a deep breath before opening the car door and stepping out. The younger sister noticed me first her eyes widen and she loudly whispered.

" Who's she?"

Remembering that I was there. Jasper turned and looked back at me. I did small wave but the two girls didn't seem to be in as friendly mood and instead looked at me like the stranger I was.

" Girls, this is Kinsley." He introduce I stepped next him the girls still looking at with the same expression.

The older one turned her head exposing the pink hearing aid in her left ear. This time it was with a shock expressions

" You're.." My words where cut short as Jasper intervened already knowing the words that where going to leave my mouth.

" Jacqueline." He said. " But we all call her Jack."

Jack's eyes trailed over me sizing me up before whispering to her little sister causing her to giggle. " Don't be mean." The little one whispered.

" Jack can be a little... mischievous." Jasper said lowly to me.

" I'm deaf but not stone deaf Bubba. If you're gonna talk about me at least wait to my aid is off." She said folding her arms across her chest.

" Noted." He grinned.

" And who's this cutie." I asked referring to the smaller one.

" This is Jasmine-"

" Are you Bubba's girlfriend?" Jasmine questioned without hesitation.

My mouth flapped open like a fish out of water. Such a simple question, I didn't seem to have the answer to. There eyes grilled me waiting on a response. While Jasmine eyes where eagerly wanting me to say yes, Jack's where narrow and threatening. I glanced over at Jasper who felt the awkwardness of this question yet, still didn't plan on helping me to answer. I didn't like to define are relationship, he liked me, I liked him. But was he my boyfriend, no. But that seemed hard to say out loud me

The front door to the house opened followed by a mouth watering scent Pancakes. A women stood on the front door with the same dark brown hair with less than a few sliver strands and light hazel eyes and freckled skin.

" Jasper Benjamin Ralston! What the hell did I tell you about parking so close to my grass!" She hollered.

I giggled.

Benjamin

" I'm sorry Grams." He apologized his face blushing in embarrassment.

His Grandma laughed. " I'm just messing with you Kiddo, now get in here and give your Nana some love."

Jasper glanced at me with crimson cheeks.

" You heard her." I joked.

I followed him up the stairs to the large porch and into the house. Family photos where hung on the walls along with drawing that the girls had drawn. Everything about this home felt like every thing I was missing. My condo felt more like a hotel room than a home. It was overly clean, as if no on lived it in, overpriced furniture that felt like hell to sit on. My place like a doll house , pretty for people to come in and see and admire the money that was put into. But uncomfortable and cold to live in. This home was everything mine wasn't. It felt like a home.

Jasper hugged his Grandmother.

" Nice to you see you grams." He said before releasing and turning to face me.

" This is Kinsley," She looked at his in confusion

" Th girl I told you about." He said lowly not wanting me to hear that part.

" Oh!" She exclaimed cheerfully. " You're the girlfriend!"

That again.

" Grams." Jasper groaned.

" No it's fine." I lightly laughed extending my hand for her shake. " You're grandsons amazing and a wonderful friend."

Really close friends.

His Grandmother's smile lowered for a second her eyes taking me in. " Well, Kinsley. I'm Diane and I'm happy to know my Grandson has finally made a friend." she winked. Causing my cheeks to heat up. She her small hand lightly shock mine.

" Now lets eat." She announced
