Alexander's POV

"Everything needs to be on my desk by Thursday." I demanded to Paul, one of the many men I have spying on Dimitri. All I need is a little more proof to get this mother fucker.

"Mr. Knight I have my men doing all that's possible. We have to get his confession which is going to take some time—"

"We don't have time, Paul!" I snapped as I ran a hand through my hair. I knew that they were doing the best they could and Dimitri was very good at covering his tracks. I was getting married tomorrow so I knew Dimitri was more than ready to pull the trigger on his plan first. I had to be one step ahead.

I always wondered how Diana could ever marry a man like him. What blew my mind even more was wondering how a person such as Anastasia could come from a snake like Diana. Ana was the complete opposite of her mother. She was ambitious, funny, caring, and kind. I could keep going on and on about how they were opposites. Ana was a rarity in my world, she didn't seek money or fame. She was here with a purpose and everything about her was pure and truthful.

I remember meeting Anastasia for the first time, not when she walked into the room, stunning everyone in that beautiful dress she wore. No— she was thirteen. I was seventeen and had no romantic feelings towards her, but she captivated every eye in the place that night all those Christmas Eve's ago. She didn't belong here and everyone knew it. She was too good to be here amongst money hungry monsters like her mother and step-father.

It was my idea to bring her back to New York. I pitched the idea to Diana a few weeks before Anastasia arrived. I hadn't seen her in so long and I knew Diana was looking for a new way to get back into the spotlight. Once I saw her I was nearly stunned at how beautiful she was. I hated the way other men looked at her and that's when I had the better part of my idea. She would live with me. Not just for my sake of saving the company, but to protect her from men that I knew would just use her. I would never do that to her. Someone like her self deserved the world and I wanted to be the one to give it to her. But I knew she wouldn't be excited about the arrangement.

I finally felt Anastasia and I were in a good place. I cared for her, that's certain. I didn't want her with anyone else, but that was a selfish thought. She hates it here and I would never force her to stay. I could only hope that maybe after all this was over she'd see this more than just some deal.

Today was my final day of work before the wedding tomorrow. My mother was keeping track of everything which was an immense help. Anastasia insisted on coming to work as well to help get any odds and ends done. That was another thing I admired about her. She was a hard worker and always up for a challenge.

Paul's long sigh brought me out of my thoughts and back to reality. "I'll do my best." He said and I hung up, not having anything else to say about it.

A soft knock came from my door and I was hoping it'd be Anastasia. Seeing her made me forget about everything going on. I was only able to focus on her. Even when she wasn't around my thoughts always drifted to her.

Much to my disappointment, it was one of my employees bringing me some papers I requested. He quickly went away after dropping them on my desk, closing the door behind him.

The phone began ringing and I looked down, letting out a grunt of annoyance.

"Hello?" I answered in a bored tone.

"Alexander, don't sound so happy to hear from me." Marcus, my little brother, said.

I rolled my eyes. "Did you need something?"

"I'm coming to the ceremony tomorrow." He announced. "I didn't even know until mom told me yesterday."

"It's none of your business, that's why." I curtly said.

He scoffed. "This isn't business, this is family." He retorted.

We had a complicated relationship, Marcus and I. He was a partier and too wild for his own good. He made decisions that only benefitted him. He was 24, but acted 15. I didn't have time to deal with his childishness. I left that to my mother who also was at her wits end with it. Marcus had only met one other woman I'd dated and that was back in my early twenties. It didn't go very well. He flirted with her the whole night just to piss me off. The relationship didn't work out anyway because she thought it would be a great idea to try and sleep with him.

"Because you've always cared about family." I said sarcastically. Marcus couldn't keep a secret, especially once the press got him going.

Marcus chuckled, he was finding this hilarious. He loved getting under my skin. "See you tomorrow." He hung up, not letting me say anything in the return. That annoying asshole.

I shut my computer down for the day and exited my office, locking it after shutting the doors. I hadn't seen Ana all day and I started worrying. I looked around our floor and she was no where to be found. Her desk was perfectly set up and looked like it hadn't been touched. I saw Judy sitting at the desk finishing putting everything away before she went home.

"Have you seen Anastasia?" I asked her.

She looked up at me from over her metal framed glasses that had slipped down near the end of her nose. "She was in the copy room a few minutes ago."

I nodded and wished her a goodnight before taking the elevator down a few floors. Right when the doors opened I saw her standing near the printer while John was leaning against the wall. I could tell he was flirting with her from here by his smile and the way his eyes occasionally drifted away from her face. My jaw clenched as I watched him look at her the way only I wanted to be able to. He was walking on thin ice at this point. I walked over to them, my eyes never leaving his stance.

"Ana," I wrapped an arm around her waist as I stood next to her, placing a kiss on the top of her head.

She looked up at me with a small smile. "Hey, nice to see you come out of your cave." She joked. I hadn't left my office once today.

I smiled down at her, taking in everything about her. Her eyes were beautiful. They were the color of the ocean. If I looked at them any longer I knew I'd get lost.

I'd never felt like this around another woman— never. Anastasia occupied my thoughts day and night and there wasn't a second I didn't want her around. I grew accustom to having her around. A couple months wasn't long to know someone, but when you spend nearly every day with that person... Well I realized that I may care more about this woman than I thought.

"Mr. Knight," John's voice pissed me off, but I didn't let it show as I gave him a curt nod.

Hey at least I acknowledged his existence.

"Ready to go home?" I asked her.

She seemed to be uncomfortable as she looked between John and I. "Yeah, sure. Um, I'll see you later John."

"Bye, Ana." Did he really just call her that?

"It's Anastasia," I quickly said before pulling her away and into the elevator. I pressed the button to close the doors, not waiting for him to share the space with us.

"Seriously, Alex?" She asked with disbelief in her tone. Her arms were crossed and lips were slightly pursued. She was so sexy when she was mad. I wanted nothing but to kiss her until every ounce of anger was gone.

I arched an eyebrow, playing dumb. "What?" I was trying to keep some self control to not reach out and touch her. I loved the way her body felt next to mine.

She rolled her beautiful eyes and scoffed at me. "You know what."

I smirked and shrugged. "He was flirting with what's mine."

She looked at me with wide eyes before shaking her head. "He was not! And I am not yours, Alexander."

I nodded and turned towards her, taking a few steps until her back was pressed against the wall. "You are," her breath hitched as lightly pressed my chest against hers. "You made that official when you insisted on marrying me." I said, my lips lifting into a smile.

She gulped and shook her head. "I'm not a possession to be owned." She was so strong and I found that beyond sexy. She couldn't be owned or controlled.

"You are mine, Anastasia Rivera. I don't want anyone looking at you the way John was tonight." Thinking about that asshole made my blood boil. Who did he think he was? Especially calling her Ana. He better watch himself otherwise he won't have a job here.

"He wasn't—"

"He was," I cut off her words. She was so naive about how beautiful she was. Every man looked at her, they couldn't help it. "Just admit it,"

She arched an eyebrow. "What?" It was adorable how she actually had to ask.

I leaned in a bit closer, my head dipping down to press a kiss against her jaw. Her hand lifted to push against my chest, but by her body leaning into my touch I knew she didn't want me away from here. Both my hands lifted the sides of her head, caging her in. "Anastasia," I said lowly as I lifted my face to look into her eyes. Her eyes were half open as she continued staring at my lips. "I know you want me just as bad as I want you." I lowly said.

"Alex—" I knew she was about to protest, but I couldn't let her deny it any longer.

"Say you're mine, Ana." I leaned in again to pepper kisses along her jaw and down her neck. "Say. " Kiss. "it." Kiss. She shook her head, not giving up on her stubbornness. "No? Well then I will." She looked confused as she stared at me with a heated gaze. "I'm yours, Anastasia." I knew what I was saying was selfish, but I couldn't keep it in any longer. I wanted her and would do anything to keep her with me.

She gulped, her dough like eyes bigger than saucers. "Alex—"

"You don't have to answer right now—"

"Will you shut up?" Ana said with a small smile.

I arched and brow and nodded.

"I don't want anyone else. Not Ronan. Not John. Just you." Her words made me grin even wider. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "But I'm terrified, Alex."

I lifted my hand to caress he soft cheek. "Don't be, baby. I will never let anyone hurt you. I won't hurt you. Anastasia, I can't imagine not seeing you every day. You're beautiful, strong, kind and so many things. I need you with me... always." I basically poured my heart out to her and I knew I was definitely losing my man card after that, but I didn't care. Anastasia deserves to know exactly what she means to me. I love her, but I couldn't tell her that right away. Especially if she didn't feel the same way.

Ana had her bottom lip tucked in as she bit down on it. All I wanted to do was kiss her in that moment. Whenever she did that it drove me crazy. "I wanna try... us being together. But— if I say yes to being together there can't be anymore little jealous tantrums." She said with a small smile as she gave a pointed look.

I nodded, swiftly kissing her lips. "Okay," I'd agree to anything she said as long as I had her by my side. I'd try my best to keep my promise, but we both knew there would come a time again when I'd get pissed another guy was looking at her the wrong way.

"Well then, Alexander Knight, I'm yours."
