Dani's pov

-

"You're on the path to following my streak" Luna laughed

"I have better things to do than play with paper for hours" I mumbled

"Don't you have practice today?" she questioned

"Exactly, now I have to miss one of the most important rehearsals because Sylvester woke up to her cats instead of a man" I groaned

"What If you skip?" she questioned

"I can't, Sylvester will be there for a couple minutes"

"Shit, that's tough. You'll figure something out" she said.

I sighed and glanced down the hallway to see Mia laughing. Her head tilted back and her cheeks turned a shade of red. She was glowing with happiness. I couldn't help but smile.

It was quickly replaced when I noticed who she was talking to. The beady eyes ginger boy stood inches away from her. He whispered something in her ear causing her to blush deeper.

Something changed within me. The sadness drained through me rather than skating over my skin. It travelled through every cell to reach the ground. I filtered it yet strangely enough, I kept what was pure and it was the dirt that left. Bad butterflies erupted in my stomach and my jaw clenched tightly. I gave them one last glace before turning back towards Luna

"You okay?" she questioned

"Yeah, just pissed about detention" I mumbled

"Want me to rip her flesh off?" Luna questioned

"No because I still gotta pass that class for my father to allow me to dance" I laughed

"Damn it, I need a human to torture" she smirked

"What about him" I nodded in the direction of Aelia and Jake. They were pressed against against the cold lockers. Their slimy tongues wondering each others mouth. I noticed the same change in expression from Luna as she watched the couples.

"Everything okay?" I asked

"I really like you" she mumbled. Atleast she's honest enough to talk about her feelings. I have no idea why I was hiding mine

"Why don't you go after her?" I asked

"I'm trying to but I'm also trying to respect her boundaries" she mumbled

"The devil's daughter respecting humans? That's sweet" I chuckled

"She's different" Luna mumbled. I glanced back at the couples and noticed Jake's hand groping Aelia. She tried pushing his hands away but he was stronger

"What the fuck is he doing" I spat

"Being a little bitch" Luna gritted. I glanced at her and noticed her pupils were dark. I smirked and turned to face the couple down the hall

Jake gasped, his body was ripped away from Aelia like magic. He stood in the middle of the hall confused as to what was happening. His arms were tossed in the air

"What the hell" he yelled. A damp colour started to form by his jean-

"Are you making Jake piss himself" I laughed

"Me? No, totally not" she smirked. Everyone stared at Jake in disgust. The liquid continued to pour down his leg. Ugh nasty

"Let me try" I pouted. Luna's eyes flickered back to normal as she nodded. I looked in the direction of the boy and my eyes immediately flickered red.

No one was paying attention to us, or our eyes. They watched the pissy boy in the middle of the hall. I kept his hands up in the air so he wouldn't be allowed to stop my next move. I stared at his belt buckle and it popped open.

"Yo what the fuck is happening!" he screamed. I heard Luna chuckle from beside me. My eyes followed down his zip. It slowly started to unravel. Jake's jeans dropped to his ankles. His pink underwear almost blinded me. A few snickers and laughs were heard.

"I'll find whoever did this!" he shouted before running away like a little bitch.

"I'll get you kids! And you're meddling dog too!" Luna said laughing

"Good one" I said and high fived her. Aelia walked past Luna, their eyes met each other. The shorter girl glanced at Luna and continued her pace. Luna's eyes never left hers. I couldn't help but smile

"I guess you gotta go huh?" I smirked

"When life gives you lemons-"

"Don't make lemonade because you can't even make tea" I said sternly. Luna playfully gasped

"How dare you insult my cooking ability"

"It's. tea. Just pour water and flavoured powder into a glass!" I said

"Leave me aloonnee" she laughed as she walked away backwards. She didn't care who she bumped into, she glared at me before turning around and leaving

I sighed and glanced at my watch, school just ended and everyone was hurrying to get to their next destination. Whether that was being home or some sort of lessons. I turned on my heels and headed towards to library.

"Where's the midget?" Sylvester asked

"Sucking face with a human orange juice" I shrugged

"Well, these books have to be in section W to Z" she said. I nodded and walked into the room. The section was far in the back, shelves blocked any view. Atleast there was an Ac because that section was dark and sealed off. If kids actually had interest in reading, they'd find out that it's a perfect place for some privacy.

"Hi" Mia mumbled, I glanced in her direction and noticed she was smiling. Even though she wasn't smiling because of me, it still made my heart flutter.

"Hey" I mumbled

"I'll get the books" she said as she slipped past the shelves. She returned with a cart full of fresh new books. The smell mixed with the classic vintage smell of the previous books. It was intoxicating.

"I noticed you were talking to your crush" I mumbled, I felt her eyes on me but I ignored it and stacked the books into the empty shelves

"I took your advice and finally talked to him" she said

I froze in my tracks. The sadness flowed through my veins and deadened my mind. It was a poison to my spirit, dulling and killing off my other emotions until it was the only one that remained. It was as if a black mist had settled upon me and refused to shift, and no matter how bright the day was I would feel no sun.

By telling Mia to be bold with the one she loves, it may have costed me my shot at happiness.
