Destroyers and a Padawan

The Clone forces ducked as artillery fire kept them pinned down.  A clone commander ran up to the crouching of General Obi-Wan Kenobi.

"Cody, where are Bastun's troops?  And, I assume Anakin is somehow indisposed at the moment?" Obi-Wan said as he reflected a blaster bolt back at a droid.

"Yes, sir.  Emperor Traike is moving in on the droids' left flank, while General Skywalker and Captain Rex are going to hit them from above momentarily," Commander Cody responded.

As said, Anakin and Captain Rex, one of the veteran clone leaders, assaulted the droid forces from the surrounding rooftops.  Obi-Wan could barely make out a black silhouette at their left.  A pale green blade pierced the dust clouds, followed by green beams fired from open windows.  Bastun dashed near a droid field piece and slashed it to scrap and pushed the mass at the barricade, blasting a hole in it.  He ignited a red saber and hurled it at a power generator and his troops pressed on as it overloaded and blew up.  Anakin landed on the ground next to him.

"Bastun, what took so long?  We needed your reinforcements hours ago," the Jedi said, irritated.

"Yes, you needed them, but we were elsewhere and we needed them in the right position.  Trust me, I'm four thousand years old.  I know how to wage war," Bastun said patting his comrade on the shoulder.  The two charged and hit the rear of the droid forces.  A blast of red lightning hit the droids from above, as well as a wind that sent the droids flying.  Bastun looked up to see Mila drop in, saberstaff drawn.  She swiftly zipped across the field to a AAT (Armored Assault Tank) and sliced through the side and hopped in. The tank shook and finally dropped after a few seconds.  Mila popped the hatch door off and sat on top.

"Last kill.  Oh, and my squad also took out their secondary battalion.  Your welcome," she said, smiling.

"Does that get old?" Anakin asked as Captain Rex walked up, helmet under his arm.

"Sometimes.  It's better to do what you are told than not," Bastun said.

"Or do something that gets you strung up for Reek bait," Obi-Wan said as he walked by Anakin.

"Hey, we were trying to rescue you," Anakin responded.

"Oh, yeah? Me and my dad had to come save the three of you," Mila said, climbing off the tank.

"Oh, touche," Obi-Wan said.

"Anyway, there's a bunker up ahead.  I had it scanned from orbit, but I couldn't get any read of it," Bastun said as he handed Obi-Wan a pair of binoculars.

"I see.  Well, call it training.  You and Anakin can take your students to disable the bunker.  Should be simple," Obi-Wan said.

"Master, I don't have Padawan," Anakin said.  Someone coughed behind him.  Anakin turned to see a short Torgrutta shifting awkwardly behind him.

"Master Skywalker, I'm Padawan Ahsoka Tano.  Master Yoda assigned me to you," Ahsoka said.

"Ughh, great," Anakin said as he walked off.  Ahsoka shyly smiled at the other generals  with her.  Bastun held out his hand.

"I'm Bastun Traike.  And this is my daughter and student, Mila," Bastun said.

"Pleased to meet you.  Did I do anything wrong?" Ahsoka asked as she watched Anakin speaking to Master Yoda on holocoms.

"Dont worry.  Anakin's just moody," Mila said, making Ahsoka giggle a bit.

"Well, we've got work to do.  Let's go," Bastun said as he slid his helmet on and pulled his hood up.

Bastun crawled up to the edge of a rooftop.  Anakin walked up behind him.  Below was a droid outpost, teeming with activity and readying for the next attack.

"What's your plan?" Anakin asked.

"Well, I was thinking a direct 'hello there' might be in order, followed by a dramatic entrance from you three.  Though there may be changes to the plan," Bastun said as he looked through a pair of binoculars around the base.

"You realize that's crazy, right?" Anakin asked.

"Well, my dad is four thousand old.  When you're that old, you learn to live a bit," Mila said as she crouched next to a collapsed wall.  Bastun front flipped into the center of the roadway behind a column of droids led by a large white droid.

"Greetings.  I'm looking for the base reactor to blow it sky high and you looked like you are the one in charge," Bastun said as the droid turned around.  He raised his eyebrow as he recognized the leader of the Seperatist army, General Grievous.

"Bastun Traike, you are bold coming here alone.  I have been waiting to test your skills against mine," the General said.

"I believe you may regret this soon.  I've heard of your reputation, and I am not impressed," Bastun said as he drew his pale green saber out and spun it masterfully and held it defensively.  Grievous coughed as he drew a blue and a green lightsabers.  He lunged at Bastun, who used the Force to push himself backwards quickly.  Grievous yelled in furry as Bastun blocked his attacks effortlessly.  He aimed a Force push at the cement ground and shattered it and sent the soil under it flying.  Grievous flipped towards Bastun, who dodged the attack.  In his helmet, Bastun sent a signal to Mila telling her to get Anakin and Ahsoka to the reactor and for her to engage the garrison.

Mila got up and gave Anakin and his student their orders then turned to look at her father, who still appeared to not be breaking a sweat at all.  She jumped off the rooftop and snuck up to the fence around the compound.  A droid patrol walked by.

"No, sir.  Aside from Emperor Traike, there's no one else here," the commander droid said into its com.

Mila stood up and ignited her brother's lightsaber.  "Besides me."

The droids jumped and shot at her, which were reflected back at the droids, followed by Mila crushing the communicator.  She walked into the centre of the base and whistled.  Several droids jumped in surprise.

"It's a Jedi!  Blast her!" A battle droid shouted.  They opened fire, but failed to land a hit as Mila twisted and swung her weapon defensively.  She Force pushed a way through the droids and ran into the base, away from Grevious and away from Anakin and Ahsoka.

Meanwhile, Anakin was attempting to show Ahsoka how to build an overload device into a reactor.

"Master, doesn't the wires from the micro-generator need to be the green and the red wires?" Ahsoka asked.

"No, it's the black and the yellow ones.  Trust me, I built an protocol droid when I was eight," Anakin said frustrated.

"I took advance electrical at the Jedi academy.  I think I know what a live wire looks like," Ahsoka said shortly before Anakin shocked himself.

"Um, maybe it could be the green and the red wires?" Anakin said as he half-heartedly laughed.

"Told you, Skyguy," Ahsoka responded.  Soon, the device came to life and the two Jedi ran for the exit.  Mila ran up behind them.

"You may want to pick up the pace," she said as ten droidikas stopped behind them and opened fire.  Mila pushed them backwards, stunning them momentarily.  As they exited the base, they saw a fighter fly away as Bastun was yawning.  Pieces of battle droids littered the area.

"Come on, you three.  Apparently, Grevious wasn't keen on continuing our duel.  What a shame," Bastun said as he vaulted up the cliff-side, followed by Mila, Anakin, and Ahsoka.  He looked over his shoulder when he heard a loud explosion from the overloaded reactor.  Republic gunships roared overhead as the carpet-bombed the remnants of the facility and its garrison.  Bastun nodded contentedly as he walked off, closely followed by Mila.

Anakin turned to Ahsoka and sighed.  "Okay, maybe I was rash in assuming that you didn't know what you needed to know.  But you still have a lot to learn.  Are you willing to learn?" Anakin asked.

"Yes, Master," Ahsoka said as she bowed and the two returned to base.
