"Hey guys." A familiar voice said and Alex turned around. Lydia was walking towards them. She was very pretty in a high-waisted black skirt and a burgundy sweater.

"Hi." Alex smiled at her and leaned in to kiss her when she reached them. He heard Peter mutter a quiet 'hi' as well. "Where's your friend?" He asked her.

"She's running a little late." Lydia said, taking Alex's hand in hers. "She said we should go ahead and she'd catch up."

"It's a movie. She's going to come halfway through the movie?" Peter inquired. It was the first time Peter had been set up with someone he didn't know and he was very nervous.

"She doesn't mind." Lydia said and started walking, dragging Alex along with her. Alex shrugged his shoulders at Peter and followed.

"Maybe I shouldn't come." Peter said. "You two should go."

"She'll be there." Lydia said. "C'mon."

They headed to the campus bus stop to take the bus into the city.

"Are you sure she's coming?" Alex whispered to Lydia.

"She has this thing..." Lydia started saying and from the tone of her voice Alex realized she wasn't sure at all. "Her ex-boyfriend, from her hometown. They were doing the long distance thing since they went to college but it has gotten complicated."

"Are they still together?"

"No..."

"No... or no?" Alex asked firmly.

"So you said she's a physics major too?" Peter approached them before Lydia had time to answer him. "How come I don't know who she is?"

"She switched last semester." Lydia informed him.

Peter nodded. "Does she know me?" He asked.

"I showed her your facebook." Lydia said as the bus came and they all got in.

"We are watching a romantic comedy!" Alex whispered in Lydia's ear. "Because you insisted! Because we'd be two couples! If she's not coming..."

"Relax. She's—" Lydia started saying but her phone rang. Alex peeked at the screen and saw Marina's name in the caller ID. "See?" Lydia said. "Hey Mari. We're on the bus." Lydia said and then she abruptly turned away from them and started whispering.

"Guess she's not coming." Peter said.

"Man, I'm sorry." Alex said, not bothering denying it.

"Not your fault." Peter said as Lydia hang up the phone.

"So..." She started saying.

"I'm getting off on the next stop, it's not too far to walk back." Peter announced and started walking towards the door. Alex didn't make a move to stop his friend. Making him come with them would be worse.

"What happened?"

"Well... He came here, her ex-boyfriend. Last night. Otherwise she'd have come. I'm sorry babe. I should apologize to Peter."

"Tomorrow." Alex said as the bus came to a halt and Peter got off after waving them goodbye.
