Hey y'all. Hope you guys like this chapter :).

I've also been thinking about changing this books name cuz it's basic af.

And then yesterday I saw a comment and I decided it was time to change it but I'm really bad at coming up with names.

Any thoughts on titles for this book?

Ajax's POV

Times Square.

I never thought I would ever find myself in the place my father described to me as a child. It was almost 1 in the morning,  and the place was packed.

You would think everyone was asleep by now on a Thursday night. But no, it seemed like it was daytime.

Bright lights lit up the entire block. The ads that everyone talked about panned across the sides of the buildings.

It was so bright, it made my eyes hurt.

"Do you have your glasses?" Mila asked, pulling me from my thoughts.

"Oh yeah," I nodded, fishing out the chromatic glasses from my pocket.

I put them on, blinking to adjust to the colour change.

"Holy shit," I muttered, staring up at the skyscraper in front of me.

There, perched atop of the building, was the world renowned crystal ball. The 2022 sign was still displayed, clearly visible from the ground.

Yellow taxi's drove by in masses with every wave of traffic. People laughed and talked, the smell of street food filling my nose.

"This," I began, turning to look at Mila, "This is my favourite place ever."

"Is it?" she laughed, tilting her head.

One advantage I had with these glasses was that my eyes were hidden. Meaning I could admire Mila without her ever knowing.

She was wearing a black coat with a blue-grey turtleneck, her necklace resting against her chest. My eyes traveled up to her face. Her eyes shined with excitement, darting around just like mine had.

My gaze flickered to her lips.

Oh.

Oh damn.

So that's how she looks in red lipstick.

It would be safe to say that red was my favourite shade of lipstick on her.

But then again, I say that about every shade.

I shook my head, trying to clear my mind of thoughts about kissing her.

Somehow Mila managed to hear her phone ringing over the chatter.

"Hello? Oh hey Adam," she chirped, sending me a look that said "oops".

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves here dad. It's only 1:35, not 2 yet," she said sarcastically making me laugh quietly.

"Alright! Okay, we'll be back."

"Yes, I have two beds why?"

"Oh. Okay, I'll let him know. Sweet dreams," she cooed sweetly and I could almost hear Adam grumbling at her.

"Let's head back?" Mila suggested, pocketing her phone.

"Can we stay a bit longer?" I pouted, slumping my shoulders.

She stared at me a moment, narrowing her eyes.

"Don't give me puppy eyes."

"Pleeeease."

"Fine."

"Yay! See, this is why you're my favorite," I said, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. She moved closer to me and I did a little happy dance in my head.

Oh my gosiafhaljghwehuag she's so close right now what the ffffffff

Okay, okay, calm down. She's probably just cold.

But what if... no no no. Don't get your hopes up.

"You good?" Mila asked, snapping me from my thoughts.

"Yeah, why?"

"You looked like you wanted to burn a hole in the side walk."

"Oh. Oops."

She chuckled, shaking her head at me.

I looked over and spotted a group of people walking with snow cones in their hands.

"Who would have a snow cone at 2 in the morning when it's 40 degrees out," I remarked, shivering at the thought.

"I'm that bitch, been that bitch, still that bitch," Mila said, pointing at herself, "Will forever be that bitch."

"Of course you would," I sighed, shaking my head. I couldn't help but smile at her as she tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

"What?" she asked, her cheeks turning pink ever so slightly.

"Nothing," I shrugged, dragging my eyes away from her.

"Our flight leaves at noon tomorrow by the way," she added as we walked down the narrow sidewalks. Most of them were covered by scaffolding and black garbage bags lined the sides.

"Oh. We probably should've slept earlier," I winced, thinking of the struggle of getting up tomorrow.

"Yeah, Adam kicked you out of your room by the way. You're gonna have to sleep in my room."

"Oh, cool. Cool," I nodded and she glared at me, smacking my shoulder.

"There's two beds, so don't get any ideas."

"Well yeah, one is for sleeping and the other for se-"

"Stop!" she interrupted, her cheeks pink as she covered her ears.

"I'm just joking," I laughed, tugging her by the belt loops into a hug.

"You're like a big heater," she spoke, her voice muffled by my jacket.

"Thanks?"

"You're welcome."

We slowly began making our way to a less crowded street so we could hail a cab. Both of us kept glancing around, trying to soak up the last few moments we had in the grand city.

"So do we land in Canada the 20th or 21st?" I asked, still confused about the time zones. North America was so big, it had 6 different time zones. Europe only had 2 which were the same except during Daylight Saving.

Mila stopped in her tracks in the middle of the hotel lobby and I turned to look at her. The colour had drained from her face and she looked like she had just seen a ghost.

"Are you alright?"

She shook her head slowly, a dazed expression on her face. Her lips parted in shock before she asked,

"Today is the 19th?"

"As of midnight, yes."

She seemed to gather her thoughts and nodded. I stared at her in confusion when she began walking as if nothing happened.

"Mila what's wrong?"

"Huh? Nothing, I'm fine," she shrugged. My brows furrowed in confusion and I gently stopped her.

"Don't do that. Don't shut me out. You can tell me."

"How can I trust you if it just comes back to hurt me," she snapped and I visibly winced.

Ouch.

But she's not wrong.

"Look-" I began but she cut me off.

"Sorry, that was rude of me," she whispered, looking down at the floor.

She's too nice for her own good.

"Wanna talk about it?" I asked hesitantly as she swiped her key card.

Her room smelled strongly like Mila. I liked it.

She let out a sigh, shrugging off her coat and falling onto the bed.

"It's been a year."

I was confused for a few seconds before I realized what she was talking about.

I panicked when she started sobbing, out of no where.

Oh shit, oh shit. What do I do??? What am I supposed to do?

A hug? Hugs are good right?

I hesitated, gently sitting beside her on the bed. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders, relaxing when she leaned into my chest.

I sat there, letting her cry.

Something told me this is what she needed. To just let go of her emotions for once. To not be judged for once.

"I'm sorry," she snuggled, wiping her eyes with her sleeve.

"Don't apologize. Not to me," I said, holding her face gently.

Tera drops glistened in her lashes and her cheeks were damp.

"I just, I feel like it's been so long. I should be getting over it but I'm just stuck. Why can't I move on?"

"Sometimes people just need time. Everyone moves at their own pace. Don't beat yourself up over it."

"I wish it could all go away. The nightmares, the flashbacks, the sadness. It's frustrating."

"Are... are you still having nightmares?" I asked hesitantly, my arms wrapped around her as she leaned against my chest

"Yes," she replied quietly.

"It's like I'm back in that room. And I'm just stuck and I can't talk or scream or move my body. And I know he didn't do anything to me, but I see him just violate me. I - I feel so helpless even though I know it didn't happen. My brain is just trying to scare me like this could've been you. I hate it."

"He shouldn't have even been able to put his hands on you. He's a vile and disgusting person who has no respect for anyone. You're strong Mila. A lot of people don't fight back the way you did. You proved to him that he can't just do whatever he wants. He's going to Jail Mila. Because you were brave, he won't be able to hurt anyone else."

"You think so?" She asked, tilting her head up to look at me.

"I know so."
