Alec woke up abruptly to a crash of thunder. He was facing the window and loved how the lightening cut through the darkened sky. It reminded him of Magnus because he was the lightening that cut through Alec's dreary life. He gave him the ability to be something other than a stormy sky. Alec groaned it was much too early for these sappy thoughts.

He rolled over to face Magnus but saw that his side of the bed was empty and from the feel of the cool sheets it had been this way for awhile. Alec jumped up and stepped into some slippers while pulling on a silk robe with glittery tigers on it. It had been a gift from Magnus after he noticed that Alec kept stealing his.

"Magnus?" Alec called out. The apartment was completely dark except for the streaks of lightening.

"Alexander, you're awake." Magnus smiled up at him from where he was sitting on the couch. He held a hand out to Alec which he took.

"It's early." Alec pointed out as he snuggled up against Magnus. It was cold in the living room and seeing the open windows, Alec knew exactly why. "And cold."

Magnus chuckled as he wrapped his arm around Alec and started to rub his arm. "We can't have my man getting cold."

A big, fuzzy blanket appeared and Magnus spread it over them. "Better?"

"Much." Alec kissed Magnus's cheek. "You're a real prince charming."

"I don't know. You're the one who kissed me awake." Magnus raised an eyebrow at him.

"True. So that makes you the princess, right?" Alec teased.

"Glittery tiara and all." Magnus chuckled then looked serious. "You know I lied yesterday."

"I know." Alec rubbed his thumb in circles on Magnus's hand as Magnus stared out the window.

"It's so strange. I knew that I was stuck in my mind, but I couldn't let go. I knew that if I admitted it then I would lose you along with our memories, but then you were there. The real you. My problem was solved. We could stay there forever and be happy. No interruptions, no sadness, no pain, no loss; just us." Magnus sighed.

"But it wasn't real," Alec whispered.

"But it was Alec. Sure the room wasn't but we were. It's part of the spell, it's considered one of the cruelest spells because you're trapped in the memories of the one you love most but you can never be with them. You broke through it."

"So that's how you got out?" Alec asked secretly disappointed that it hadn't been his kiss.

"No, it didn't. My guess is that we've worked together so much that my magic recognizes you as much as it recognizes itself." Magnus looked at Alec then, his eyes bright yellow and cat-like. "I still have no idea how you pulled me out of it Alexander, but I know it was you."

Alec smiled, he could tell that Magnus was getting itchy from the seriousness in the room. He much preferred humor or even bitter sarcasm so Alec decided to take pity on him and touched his own lips. "You know, I have been told that I have magical lips."

"Really?" Magnus gave him a thankful wink and rubbed his chin. "I think I might need a demonstration."

"I might be convinced to give you one." Alec said in a husky voice as he leaned in closer.

"And how might I convince you?" Magnus asked with his lips grazing Alec's.

"First, you can come back to bed." Alec gave him a whisper of a kiss and hopped up from the couch.

"You better run." Magnus growled and nipped at Alec.

Alec giggled and sprinted to their room. Magnus got up to follow him but first went to the windows to close them. He heard a weak meow from outside. He looked out into the dark night and say a tiny kitten shivering from the cold.

"Well hello, little one." He said as he magicked it into his arms. "Why don't I put you in the room with the other cats. They'll warm you up. Oh and how about some milk?"

The cat meowed its approval. Magnus chuckled and carried it to the small room with the other 3 cats that came in during storms including Chairman Meow.

"You all be nice to Mariek, you hear me." Magnus set the kitten down and left the room.

"Are you coming?" Alec called out.

"Yes, darling." Magnus smiled.

He ran into the room and launched himself at Alec who was laying on the bed. He felt the wind get knocked out of him when he landed and Alec groaned. Maybe he had been a little too excited. But then Alec laughed and found Magnus's lips with his own. His lips were demanding and soft. Alec normally let Magnus take control of the kiss but it was Alec who ran his tongue over Magnus's lips until they opened to grant him entrance.

Alec ran his hands over Magnus's body up to his hair where he tangled them. Magnus's hair was so soft and from that angle, he could pull Magnus even closer. Magnus nipped at his tongue playfully. They pulled apart only to catch their breath before finding each other again. Maybe the dream world could never have pain, but this life he had with Alec was close enough to perfect.
