Answer: Literally everything but I big one is that they're so open about their feelings like you know they're not playing games wondering if they can text because the other hasn't responded yet. Magnus will send Alec 50 text messages in a row without worrying that he's annoying Alec (mostly because he would do that to annoy him for fun)

"Alec what took you so long?" Jace hissed at him as he took his seat next to him.

"I had to find a shirt." Alec rolled his eyes and pulled out his notebook. Mr. Hodge was droning on about history and Alec honestly didn't care to listen. He knew that he'd regret it later but it was impossible to focus on American history when his own history was taking up his mind.

---------

"Alec, what do you think I'm going to say?" Magnus shook his head, letting his hood fall away from his face showing off the marks on his throat in the light of the street lamp.

"The truth!" Alec was so angry he wanted to break something but instead he just clenched his fists a couple of times. It didn't help at all. He turned and kicked the fence which broke from the pressure. The cracking sound helped him feel a little better. Next he threw out his fist and punched it, hard. He didn't care that splinters stuck into his fingers.

"Calm down." Magnus grabbed his arm. "You're going to hurt yourself. Shit, you already have."

"Let go of me." Alec growled at him. He was going to be sick. He turned and vomited on the grass next to the broken bits of fence.

"Alec, what's going on? You're not the only one who should be pissed." Magnus rubbed his friend's back but Alec jumped away. It felt like a slap to the face.

"Don't. Touch. Me. Ever. Again." Alec said with so much venom in his voice that even Alec was afraid of what he'd do.

"Fine. Forget it. Just go." Magnus laughed but it was anything but a happy laugh. It was more like the laugh of a man condemned to the electric chair.

"How could you let this happen?" Alec asked him, not even able to look at him.

"You think I wanted this to happen? It's my life that's been fucked up too. You get to just walk away and pretend that I never existed. You'll move on while I continue to hate myself for what happened. I'm the one who's going to live with this single mistake for the rest of my life." Magnus didn't even hide the fact that there were tears streaming down his face or that his voice cracked multiple times.

"Mags," Alec took a step towards him but they both knew he wouldn't get any closer. "I have to go."

"Promise me that you won't tell anyone." Magnus choked out as the tears stained his grey shirt. "Please?"

"I can't do that." Alec covered his face, trying to stop the tears.

"Are we ever going to get past this?" Magnus sounded so broken that it shattered Alec's heart to not go back to him, but he couldn't do it. Magnus had gone too far. Alec left his heart there on the wet grass as he continued to walk back to his house.

"Alec?" Magnus cried out. "Alexander? Please come back."

"Alec, what the hell is wrong with you?" Jace smacked his arm pulling him out of the memory. Alec looked down and saw the wet spots on his notebook. He quickly used the sleeve of his shirt to wipe the tears away and flipped Jace off.

"Seriously, Alec." Jace whispered.

"Fuck off." Alec whispered back.

"Sure, whatever." Jace threw his hands up and watched his best friend cross his arms and drop his head down to them.

"Mr. Lightwood, care to join us?" Mr. Hodge called out.

"No." Alec blurted then his head popped up as the class laughed. "I mean. I'm listening."

"Then what did I just say?" Mr. Hodge asked with a raised eyebrow.

"You said, and I quote, Mr. Lightwood, care to join us?" Alec said, knowing already that detention was coming his way and not giving a damn. The class laughed again and Alec swore he could see steam shooting out of Mr. Hodge's ears.

"Detention, Mr. Lightwood. After class."

Jace raised his hand. "Mr. Hodge, Alec was technically right."

"Would you like detention too?"

"No, sir." Jace smiled.

"Then shut your mouth unless you have something to add that will enlighten the class." Mr. Hodge paused for a moment then smirked. "As I suspected."

"He's such a dick." Jace whispered.

Alec nodded but stayed quiet.

"As I was saying we're doing a modern history assignment. You will do it in pairs." Mr. Hodge's words were met with a cheer from the class and people shouting out each other's names.

"I have already assigned the partnerships." He added and the class groaned as one.

"Jace and Clary." He said and Jace winked at Clary who flipped him off. Mr. Hodge continued down the list. "Raphael and Simon."

"That should be interesting." Jace commented looking between the grades' official nerd and the guy who he had never even heard speak.

"Yeah," Alec smiled.

"And finally Alec and Magnus."

"Are you fucking kidding me?" Alec demanded waving his arm out in front of him. "He's not even here!"

"Alec, language!" Mr. Hodge slapped his hand down on his desk.

"Oh, sorry, I mean he's not even here." Alec said with an eye roll.

The bell rang and students all stayed in their seats waiting to see what happened next.

"You are dismissed!" Mr. Hodge shouted angrily. "Get out before I give you all detention."

Alec jumped up along with the other students. "Alec, sit your ass down."

"Good luck." Jace chuckled. "I'll let Mrs. Dot know you'll be late."

"Thanks." Alec groaned. What the hell was going on with him today? It had been like six months, why was it now just getting to him.

A/N Now you can see why I was feeling extra emotional I guess... but it does it better... eventually.
