Magnus laid on the floor on his stomach with his feet in the air, they danced as he kicked them gently. Alec loved seeing Magnus like this; he was completely unaware of the world except for the little boy in front of him.

Max was mimicking Magnus even with his little hands cupping his chin. They were staring at each other over the colorful board in front of them.

"You're going down little man." Magnus whispered and scrunched his face up to look angry but really only managed to look silly.

Alec sipped his coffee from the couch where he was sitting watching the two.

"You're going down so far you'll see your dad." Max growled back and Magnus's eyes popped open.

He looked at Alec with his eyebrows high. "Did our son just tell me to go to hell?"

"I think he did." Alec chuckled.

"Well that's not nice." Magnus pouted.

"It's not nice to take away my cereal." Max said back with a straight face.

Magnus jumped up, full of energy, "I did no such thing!"

Max jumped up then stood on the coffee ran be to be a little taller. "Yes you did!"

Alec just sat back laughing at the exchange.

"It was one bite!"

"One too many!"

"It was my cereal!" Magnus had to bite his lip to keep from laughing.

"It was in my bowl."

"It was my spoon."

"You're a bully." Max crossed his arms.

"You're a little demon." Magnus stuck his tongue out.

"Only half." Max launched himself at Magnus. "

"Ahh!" Magnus fell to the floor gently. "Alec, help me!"

Alec crossed his left leg over his right one and sat back. "Sorry, love, but you did this to yourself."

Magnus held out his hand and barely touched Alec's foot. "It was one bite..." He whispered.

"You know better than to steal another man's cereal." Alec shrugged.

Max stood up on Magnus's thighs and pumped his fist. "I am the champion!"

"Gah!" Magnus grabbed Max's and threw him into the air catching him with his magic. He spun him gently in a circle the way he knew Max liked.

Max giggled. "Faster!"

"As you wish." Magnus twisted his hand causing Max to go a tiny bit faster.

Knock! Knock!

Alec and Magnus looked at each other and froze.

"He's here." Alec sounded terrified.

"It's time." Magnus leaned down and kissed Alec's forehead, cupping his cheeks. "It'll go great, Alexander so stop worrying."

"But what if-" Magnus cut off Alec's protest with a kiss to his lips.

"He'll love us." Magnus reassured him and held out his arm.

Alec stood and linked arms with Magnus. "By the angel, I hope he does."

They took a deep breath together and opened the door as one.

"Welcome!" Magnus bellowed with a smile and held out his arm that want linked with Alec's to motion to the apartment.

"Hi Rafe." Alec said in a calmer voice.

Rafe, the young Shadowhunter, stood I  front of them silently. He shrugged his shoulders.

"Where's Mrs. Thatcher?" Magnus asked looking behind the boy. There was supposed to be an adult with him.

"Somewhere back there. Who cares?" Rafe stepped inside.

Alec and Magnus exchanged a look, looked down the stairs, and decided to just leave the door open.

"There's a blue kid on your ceiling." Rafe said nonchalantly as he sank into the couch and kicked his feet up onto the coffee table.

"Oh, right." Magnus wiggled his fingers and Max floated down. "This is Max. Max this is Rafe."

"Why are you blue?" Rafe asked Max and Alec stepped forward about to step in but Magnus held him back.

"Give it a second." Magnus whispered.

"Why aren't you blue?" Max asked back.

"Guess I'm just not that cool." Rafe smiled and Alec about died. Rafe belonged with them. He was what their family was missing.

"You do have cool tattoos like Papa. Daddy has one too. They match. Do you have the same one? Can I see?" Max didn't hesitate before pulling up Max's shirt.

"Woah, Max, give him some space." Alec picked Max up. "Rafe won't have that tattoo until he finds the person he will spend his life with."

"Are you married?" Rafe raised his eyebrow at Alec then Magnus.

"Not yet." Magnus wrapped his arm around Alec because he knew Alec was getting more nervous.

"Why not? You love each other don't you?" Rafe looked confused.

"Of course, but sometimes that's not all you need." Alec said.

"There you are, you little brat!" Mrs. Thatcher walked in stiffly with a glare. Then suddenly she flew to the ceiling and started spinning.

"You're mean." Max growled at her.

"Max?" Alec looked shocked. He had never been able to do that before.

"Max, put her down." Magnus hissed.

"Not until she apologizes." Max demanded at the woman who was red in the face. She looked pissed.

A/N Yay! Protective Max! Hope you liked it 😀Do you think Mrs. Thatcher will let Rafe stay or have they lost their shot?
