"Mags, can we go yet?" Alec asked as they walked into the house that was full of people and noise. He didn't like any of it. Not even all of the dark Halloween decorations. They had just kissed, then Jace had walked in interrupting them before they could even discuss what was going on. Alec, wasn't sure if Magnus wanted to even talk about it.

"Alec, we literally just got here." Magnus smiled and Alec wished that he could kiss him again. He looked so beautiful and after what had just happened he craved him even more.

"Fine. But if a single person touches me or talks to me I'm going to scream and run." Alec shrugged.

"Alexander." Magnus scolded him as he nodded at a couple people from their history class. Magnus didn't have many friends at their school but he had more than Alec.

"Why don't we go outside?" Magnus offered.

"Okay." Alec followed him outside and glanced over at Izzy who was dancing with Sebastian, Clary's half-brother who was visiting from college. His friends were watching them and making motions that Alec was not okay with.

Alec stopped following Magnus and walked over to Sebastion. "Get your fucking hands off my sister!" He shouted over the music.

"Woah, buddy, calm down. It's just a dance." Sebastian laughed and Izzy gave Alec a thank you look. She tried to step back as Sebastian tightened his grip on her arm.

"Let go of her." Alec demanded and people had finally noticed that something was going on. Some looked on waiting to see if they should help while others watched for the fun.

"You gonna make me pussy." Sebastian smirked.

Alec punched him in the nose without warning and the older boy grabbed his nose with both hands. Izzy stepped back and Alec quickly stepped in front of her.

"You little ass." Sebastian shook his head and his friends came towards them.

"Sebastian!" Jocelyn's voice broke through the crowd that had already gone silent. "Out, now."

"Whatever." He spit out blood. "This isn't over."

"I think it is." Magnus smiled and wrapped his arm around Alec. "Shall we go find something to eat?"

"Sure."

Alec let Magnus lead him to the kitchen where Jace was standing, waiting. "Mind to tell me what caused you to lose your fucking mind?" Jace asked.

"He was touching Izzy." Alec growled, his anger growing again.

"Yeah, and you punched him. You know he's crazy right?" Jace shook his head. "Seriously, it's not just rumors. He was literally in juvie, multiple times."

"Well he's gone so it doesn't matter." Alec shrugged.

"You're lucky." Jace told him.

"Hey, Alec, I should check out your hand. It's bleeding. We can use Clary's room. There's a bathroom." Magnus winked at Alec when Jace wasn't looking.

"My hand-" Alec smiled, he knew where this was going. "Yeah, it hurts pretty bad."

"You better not have screwed it up!" Jace called after them.

"He'll be fine!" Magnus threw back over his shoulder.

"I'm glad you caught on so quickly." Magnus purred into Alec's ear.

"Yeah, well I'm pretty smart." Alec gave him a cocky grin then tripped on the bottom stair.

"Yeah," Magnus tried to hold back his laughter. "You're about as smart as you are good on your feet."

Alec let out a giggle then coughed and chuckled. "Was that your way of calling stupid and clumsy?" Alec ran up the stairs and Magnus followed.

"To the right!" Magnus called after them directing him to Clary's room. "And I would never call you stupid or clumsy."

"Yeah, right." Alec stopped in front of the room down the hall.

"That's it." I would say you're adorably awkward and lack some intelligence."

"Such a dick!" Alec laughed and opened the door. Magnus pushed him in and locked the door quickly before kissing him hard. They made out for a couple of minutes standing there in the hallway before Magnus pushed Alec backward. Alec fell when he hit the bed with the back of his knees and laughed as he bounced lightly.

"You have no idea how badly I wanted to do that downstairs." Magnus said in a husky voice as he sat down next to Alec and fell back. He caught his head with his hands. "You are one hell of a kisser, Alexander."

"I could say the same about you." Alec blushed deeply and laid back. He loved how they were back to feeling free again. They let the comfortable silence fill the room as they caught their breath.

"What do you think life would be like if we could be like this out in the open?" Alec asked quietly after some time had passed. Magnus turned onto his side and placed his elbow on the other side of Alec. He brushed Alec's hair out of his face and Alec blushed again.

"Alexander, I don't know, but I'd love to find out." Magnus sweetly kissed Alec's forehead then his left eyelid as Alec closed his eyes. He kissed the other then he kissed Alec's nose.

"I think it will be like we are dead." Alec purred happily.

Magnus chuckled shaking the bed and them. He smacked Alec and flopped back as he continued to laugh. He wiped the tears away as Alec watched him closely. Had Alec said something wrong?

"Alec, what the hell was that?" Magnus smacked him again. "I mean we were having such a sweet, perfect moment and you have to say you think our relationship would be like death. What the fuck?"

Alec laughed. "Oh, that's not what I meant!" Alec covered his face with his hands as he burst into laughter. "Mags." He choked on laughter.

After a couple of mintues, they finally had stopped enough that they could breathe. "Do you want to know what I meant?" Alec asked, rolling over so he was partially on Magnus.

"You know I do." Magnus reached up and played with Alec's hair.

"I meant that we could be truly happy. And this façade that I've used for so long would finally be shed. I could truly be who I'm meant to be."

"Alec, that's beautiful." Magnus kissed him.

Alec smiled against Magnus's lips. "You know, I think we should go to my place." Alec whispered against Magnus's lips.

"Oh really?"

"Yes." Alec kissed a trail across Magnus's chin to his ear and nibbled on the lobe.

"I don't want to rush this." Magnus admitted, worried that Alec would be upset.

"You're right." Alec sat back. "How about I get us some drinks?"

"Alec we both know that you don't want to leave this room to deal with a crowd of people." Magnus laughed.

Alec blushed and smiled even deeper. Would the smile ever leave his face? He thought that he'd never lose the feeling of pure joy.

"I'll be right back." Magnus reached over and kissed Alec again before getting up. Alec watching happily as Magnus left then flopped back on the bed once he was alone. He closed his eyes so he could relive the moment.

The door opened and he didn't get up. "That was quick." Alec laughed. And that was the moment that he lost his laughter. The bliss, the joy, the peace was destroyed so quickly that Alec forgot that he had ever felt it.
