Magnus had been planning the trip for months. He had gotten Alec's leave already approved and he was looking at the hotel reservation in his hand. It was really happening. Finally, after such a long time of being together he was going to pop the question.

"Are you sure about this, Dad?" Rafe asked Magnus after he had explained the whole idea.

"Should I not be? Is there something I don't know?" Magnus was so worried that he shook Rafe gently.

"Calm down, I'm just messing with you. Clearly you're not up for it right now." Rafe patted his dad's arm.

"Oh, ha, funny." Magnus rolled his eyes at his oldest son. "Guess who I'm leaving you with now?"

"What? I'm old enough to be on my own! You told me, no babysitter." Rafe puckered his lips in anger.

"See? How does it feel?" Magnus smirked at ruffled his hair which honestly made it look more calm.

"Bitc-"

"Language." Magnus scolded.

"You don't know what I was going to say."

"Sure. Why don't you go get Max from school?"

"Do I have to?" Rafe whined.

"Awe, still afraid of miss Catherine?" Magnus smiled when he saw the blush on his sons cheeks.

"Her name is just Catherine and I'm not afraid."

"You need to ask her out." Magnus fixed Rafe's collar. "Maybe invite her over sometime this weekend."

"Absolutely not!" Rafe looked like he was going to be sick.

"Think about it while picking up your brother." Magnus smiled.

"Never gonna happen." Rafe sauntered away only to stop in the doorway. "You don't leave until we're back right?"

"Of course not, darling." Magnus felt a pang of pain at the fear still present in Rafe. He wanted to destroy whoever had hurt his little boy.

"Good." Rafe hurried on his way, padding Alec on the stairs. "Hey dad; bye dad."

"Are you getting Max?" Alec asked his rushed son.

"Yeah."

"Good luck worth Catherine." Alec held in a laugh at Rafe's pained look.

"Very funny." Rafe rolled his eyes and tried to hide his blush.

"Hello darling." Magnus danced to the door as Alec walked inside.

"Hey, hun." Alec kissed Magnus in a greeting and pulled back. "Our son has his first crush."

"Oh I know! He's almost as cute as you used to be." Magnus clapped his hands.

"Think we can still trust him to be alone for the weekend?" Alec asked while pulling off his jacket and boots.

"Of course. I told him to invite get over." Magnus took Alec's jacket and hung it on the hook.

"You did what?" Alec asked point blank.

"It's reverse psychology. I learned it from that mundane book you got me." Magnus snapped his fingers and the parenting book appeared in his hands.

"You read it?" Alec was shocked.

"It was important to you so of course I did." Magnus touched Alec's chest above the v in his shirt.

Alec leaned in and kissed Magnus. "By the angel, I love you."

"I love you too." Magnus smiled against his lips and kissed him deeply. He slid his hands down Alec's body to the loops in his pants to pull him closer.

Alec chuckled against his mouth. The sweet sound, Magnus would never get sick of. Alec's hands went to the bottom of Magnus's shirt and he tucked them inside. He massaged his way up to Magnus's shoulders and they broke apart so Alec could pull off the shirt carefully.

"Why must you always wear things I'm afraid of ripping?" Alec teased in a husky voice.

"I can always get new ones darling." Magnus purred into his ear and nipped his earlobe lightly.

Alec moaned. "You say that but last time I ripped a shirt off you, you cried for an hour."

Magnus moved to kiss Alec's neck, leaving his mark every so often. "That was different."

"Sure." Alec cupped Magnus's face and pulled his mouth to his.

"Ah! My eyes!" Rafe shouted from the doorway. "Don't you have a room for this? You couldn't wait an hour for your vacation to start?"

Alec and Magnus broke apart and Magnus picked up his shirt to pull back on.

"Rafe, that was quick." Alec panted.

"Daddy! Papa!" Max ran towards Magnus and Alec with his arms outstretched.

"How was school little man?" Alec asked as Magnus lifted Max into the air.

"Fun. Catherine was there and we played 20 questions." Max giggled as Alec took him into his arms and blew a raspberry on his tummy.

"What were the questions about?" Magnus asked after Alec set him back on the ground.

"Rafe." Max shrugged.

"What?!" Rafe turned beet red.

"Looks like someone really likes you." Magnus teased and Alec nodded.

"No way, she's a warlock. It's not gonna happen." Rafe motioned across his neck with his finger pretending to cut his throat.

"Rafe?" Alec urged him to go on. There was no way they could have raised a boy who would think less of a warlock; there had to be more or he had a big talking to coming. Magnus and Max stood still waiting for his response.

"What? If I upset her she could turn me into a frog. She's way too powerful for me." Rafe said and they all released the breath they were holding.

Alec grabbed his shoulder. "Listen to me buddy, it's scary but if you like her then it's worth it. No matter who you end up dating they'll be strong enough to hurt you one way or another. You have to decide if it's worth it."

"Think about it over the long weekend; when we get back we can help you with wheat you decide." Magnus added.

"I don't need your help asking her out." Rafe covered his face with his hand in embarrassment but not before Magnus and Alec shared a knowing look. "I mean, if I decide I want to, you know. I probably won't because you know," Rafe's voice trailed off.

"Oh, of course." Alec nodded but rolled his eyes at Magnus.

"He sounds just like you except it was a him instead of her." Magnus whispered and kissed Alec's cheek. "Adorable."

"Aren't you leaving?" Rafe finally blurted.

"It's like he's trying to get rid of us." Magnus pretended to be hurt.

"Maybe we should cancel the trip. See what he's up too. We could invite Catherine over. Go through our home videos and pictures." Alec smiled.

"Please leave." Rafe tried to push them to the door.

"I want to come!" Max jumped up and down.

"Not this time buddy." Alec ruffled his hair and kissed it. "But we love you. You'll be good for Rafe, right?"

"As long as he makes macaroni and cheese for dinner." Max eyed Rafe.

"And you'll tell me everything you told Catherine." Rafe cocked an eyebrow at him.

"Deal." They shook on it.

"Love you Rafe. If you need anything call." Alec hugged him then Max again.

"Love you boys." Magnus hugged them both.  "We'll be back on Monday morning."

"Have fun!" Max called out.

"I'm sure they will." Rafe rolled his eyes. He thought couples got tired of each other but Magnus and Alec didn't seem like they ever would.
