Both the kids' faces were extremely terrified. They wanted to run away, away from her, ignore whatever she was saying, wanted to think it as just a dream which will get over when they wake up, think that she's just another psycho who was giving them empty threats just for fun. But a part of them somehow believed her, feared what will come ahead of them, questioned their move. They just sat there, paralyzed with fear, staring at the woman laughing in front of them. But another part of them wanted to face it, to tell her that she's wrong, that they will fight, that they will not give in to Diana, that they will not let her cause harm to anyone anymore.

Hannah tried to ignite the car, but the engine won't start. She looked at John who mirrored the same feeling that she was having. The woman kept laughing, with her words of terror echoing, and then, out of nowhere, lightning struck just a few inches away from the car. Hannah and John shrieked and put their arms around themselves for protection and when they looked up, she was gone. The woman was nowhere to be seen.

Hannah and John looked around, rolled down the windows, and looked everywhere. There was nothing but road and greenery. The woman was nowhere to be seen as if she dissolved in the air and vaporized. The sky became clear. Not a single dark cloud to cause thunder or lightning. Everything became quiet and normal as if nothing out of the ordinary has ever happened. Still shaken with everything that just happened, both of them wanted so bad to escape from there.

Hannah turned the key, but the car won't start. With every failed attempt to turn the car on, they decided to walk as there was no use to try with the car anymore. They got down, slammed the door shut behind them, and walked.

"So," John began. "Where from now?"

Hannah shrugged. "Let's see where this road takes us."

After walking nonstop for about an hour and a half or so, their feet began to get sore. They rested for a while under the shade of a tree but then again continued their journey as they had to reach the house no matter what.

"Look!" John said with one hand on his knees and another finger pointing to something not far from them. Hearing what his brother was talking about, Hannah shifted her eyes to see what he was pointing to.

It was a Church - an old Church surrounded by many dried trees with only branches and a few tiny leaves here and there.

With their feet killing them from all the walking, the moon shining brightly in the night sky, with crickets and fireflies around and more miles to go, they decided it's better to go inside the church.

Inside, they were greeted by a very calm and peaceful looking figure.

"Good evening, children," said the figure in a very sweet voice. "I haven't seen you around. Come inside, it's about to get extremely dark."

"Thank you." Both said in unison.

"I'm Hannah and this is my brother John."

"I'm Father Williams." He said with a friendly smile.

"Yes," John said, looking at him, "we are not from here. We have come a long way to seek the truth and end something we have started."

"Oh, I see. God will guide you, my child, if you need Him. He's always there for His children. I wish you success. Come with me."

Following Father Williams towards the nave, something came into Hannah's mind.

"Father?"

"Yes, Hannah,"

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure, your face says it all that something's bothering you. Go on,"

"Um," Hannah hesitated for a second but then continued. "Do you think that there are evil spirits around us - people - that want revenge or want to harm us? I mean, speaking in general."

Father Williams stopped and turned around. " Well, yes. There are spirits around us - good, bad, demonic. They all have different intentions - some wanting to help us, some wanting to harm us, some unrestful souls that want revenge from those who did wrong to them or their loved ones, some who just want to trouble people for fun, or even some demonic entities who have the intention of nothing but harming us in a way we can't even think of."

"Father, have you," John knew what Hannah was trying to say or whom she was referring to. "ever came across some?"

"Yes, dear. I have seen many cases concerning it. Why? Is there any spirit troubling you?"

Both shook their heads. "No, we were asking just like that." John tried to divert the topic and convince him that nothing was wrong but Father Williams smiled. "It's written all over your face. You are indeed in some situations. You can tell me, maybe I can be of your help?"

Hannah and John looked at each other. They wanted to tell him about Diana. They wanted to know how to end her and they knew that he could have the answers. But instead, John asked, "Actually, we were heading towards a house nearby who belonged to a boy named Nick."

"Ah, Mr. Nick." Father Williams said looking into space like he had gone into his memories.

"Do you know about him?" Hannah asked curiously.

"My grandfather once told me about him before I became a Father in this Church. He was such a sweet kid, mostly misunderstood and alone. But he was very kind and friendly. He mostly spent his time either in the Church or in his house - alone. His dad used to work a lot so, he used to pay a visit to grandfather in our house. Nick used to tell everything to him. He used to always carry a diary with him. He also told him that his dad would act sweet and caring but sometimes out of the blue, he would act all crazy and weird.

Nick even told my grandfather that seeing his dad in that state would often make Nick fear him. He was scared to even go near his father and what odd was that neither Nick nor my grandfather understood why Nick was never allowed in his dad's room. The room was off-limit to Nick. And then, as weeks passed by, Nick's disposition started to change. He slowly became a child who hated everyone, but who can blame him?

The world has become like this with people not caring about each other anymore. He once told my grandfather that he was seeing things, hearing stuff, weird behaviors of his dad. My grandfather told me that maybe an evil spirit was residing in his house. But then one day, Nick and his dad left, and then they never came back."

"We have some questions which that house, holds the answers to," John said firmly.

Father Williams looked at both of them, unsure and then said, "Look, kids, that house is dangerous. Some even say that they have heard crying of a little girl there - "

"It's a matter of life and death, father." Hannah politely said. "We are losing the people we love and she is out there wanting to kill us and harm who knows how many?"

"Diana." Father Williams said with a serious expression on his face.

Hannah and John looked at him, shocked.

"I know. Everyone here knows about her. She is a malicious spirit. If she is the reason, be very careful. She is filled with hatred, anger, and revenge. Your life can be in serious danger but the demons or fallen angels are enemies of God, but they are defeated, enemies. Christ has "disarmed the powers and authorities," and He has "made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross" (Colossians 2:15). As we submit to God and resist the devil, we have nothing to fear. "The one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world" (1 John 4:4)." So, don't lose your faith in God.

They both nodded. "We've come a long way and we are not going back before we put a stop to it. No matter what." John said with his fists held tightly.

"Be very careful though." Father Williams warned. "I'll come with you. We are not dealing with any normal spirit."

Hannah was about to speak when someone came crashing through the doors.

"Father Williams! Father Williams!" A man's silhouette appeared, panting as if he had come running from a long way. "We ne-ed your help." He said, breathing heavily in between.

"What's wrong?" He asked, concerned, rushing towards the man.

Hannah and John stood there, watching the two have a serious conversation which none of them could hear. But their faces said it all - the matter was surely serious.

"Children, I'm really sorry. I have to go. Since it's dark outside, how about you stay the night in the Church, you're safe here and then we'll go to the house in the morning? I'll be right back." Saying this, the two men disappeared.

After waiting for a while, John burst out, "Hannah, I can't wait any longer. We have to go."

"Haven't you heard him what he said about her? What if she tried to kill us? What if something wrong happens? Haven't you seen what had happened to everyone? Emily, Mom, Grandma - "

"Isn't she trying to kill us and the ones we love even now? If we wait long, who knows whom she would have killed by then? Waiting till morning would be too late. We have lost enough lives, Hannah! We cannot risk any more lives! We have to go."
