"Well I'm all settled..."

Gildarts had just finished packing his bag. He was currently at the guild saying goodbye to everyone. This mission wasn't exactly complicated but was extremely time consuming. However, nothing he couldn't handle.

"Alright, take care of yourself then." Master patted his back, sending him off.

He walked away and headed towards several locations to say goodbye to other people before stopping at Fairy Hills to see you. As he approached the place he saw Erza waiting there alone. You were usually with her to send him off and would drag him away for alone time afterwards.

"Hey." He waved at her looking around.

She waved back at him a small smile appearing on her face.

"Hey Gildarts."

"She.. She really isn't coming down ?"

"No. She did say to me to tell you to be careful." She looked back at one of the rooms since she knew you were watching him from there.

"Oh. Thank her for me, okay ?" He looked up to where she looking. "I'll be taking my leave, then."

He started walking away but before he continued he waved to the window of the room you had been staying in hope you'd see him.

When he got no response, he sighed gently, putting his hand down.

He continued walking away sighing on his way out. He looked back again and was going to walk back but stopped midway reminding himself of what he had to do. So, he walked forward.

And off he went.

˚

"I really am childish..." You looked at the window staring at his back as he walked away from Fairy Hills.

You originally had wanted to come out and say goodbye but was scared of the outcome that conversation would have possibly led to.

Placing your head back on your knees, you reminded yourself of the argument you and him had gotten into three days prior his departure.

Had you done the right thing ?

Yes. No ?

You were lost on whether your judgment was correct or not.

It was too early to think about that anyway.

"You doing okay, Y/N ?" Lucy had asked you that question multiple times since that night. She really was a good friend.

"Yeah. I'm feeling better all thanks to you guys." You smiled at her and touched her shoulder to appease her. You really had felt more relaxed because of them.

"We're glad then..."

You looked back at the window and admired the view from afar. How come Magnolia was so pretty ? Seeing it in plain daylight really did make you livelier.

Now the real question was, were you going to spend another day moping around, eating junk food while watching trash TV or were you going to get some air as the other girls had requested you to do ?

You'd rather stay but decided the latter.

"I'm going on a walk, okay ?" You stood up, stretched and walked downstairs towards the door.

"That's a great idea Y/N ! Do you want me to call the others so we can join you ?" Lucy stood up alongside you.

"Nah.. I'll go solo this time. But thanks for letting stay with you. I'm really grateful." You put your shoes on at the entryway before standing up to leave. She nodded and hugged you tightly waving goodbye as you left.

Erza ran up to your side when she saw you coming outside asking if you were fine. You told her that you were doing okay and hugged her back to reassure her before leaving.

You walked outside breathing in the fresh air. You strolled around Magnolia happy to be out. The city was so bright and lively already even though it was already so early in the morning. You had hoped the city was going to be empty as you were out but it being crowded also did the job.

You were pretty far from the Guild and even further away from Fairy Hills. You were in a more rural area now. As you looked around you passed in front of a bar. The bar was adorned with a giant hole on its side.

A very nostalgic bar, in fact.

"I haven't been around here in so long..." You said out loud.

It was there you had first met him.

A total coincidence if we're being honest.

But still, one of the memorable days of your life.

˚

You were 20 at the time.

You weren't in a guild due to the fact that your confidence in your abilities at the time wasn't the best. You hadn't want to disappoint your guild mates if you had been in one.

Though you did make money by using your magic to do tricks. It paid quite a lot so you never really complained about it.

Although at times you wouldn't get laughs and 'do it again's you seeked for. That reaction happened on that faithful day.

You had stayed at that bar for around two hours.

You had decided to ask the bartender, who was wearing a very distinctive yellow hat, if he had wanted to see one of your mind reading trick not knowing that he was a wanted criminal worth more than 300,000 jewels.

When you had infiltrated his mind you had obviously been able to see that he had been robbing multiple places for a very long time and had decided to hide out as a bartender.

The moment you had finished using your magic on him, you immediately laughed at his face telling him how dumb he was for trusting you.

He obviously didn't think it was funny and as a result ended up pinning you down on the ground.

It was then out of nowhere that a hole had been formed on the wall and a man holding a black duffle bag and sporting a black cloak with his bare torso showing had came out of it.

"What the hell ?" He had said confused.

You looked at him with a hopeful look. Maybe he was going to help you get out of this mess you had gotten yourself into. Not that you really needed it, but it was still nice to get help from others.

He scratched his chin before advancing to sit in one of the stools.

"Sorry for ruining you guys's moment. Keep going. Though... do you mind serving me a beer before ?"

You looked at him dumbfounded. Was he serious ? The wanted man had stood up from you and walked towards the ginger haired man but still held you up by your shirt.

"You want me to kick your ass too, pal ?"

Gildarts had glared at him. "Nah.. Not in the mood.. A beer would be nice though."

He looked at you and smirked. "Though, if I may step in, don't you think that girl is a little bit young to have your way with ?"

Him and the bartender kept going back and forth on each other.

You could tell the bartender, who was still holding onto you, was getting extremely frustrated at the cloak-wearing man due to his seemingly real cluelessness.

You really couldn't believe how oblivious he was to all of this. But it was a little funny, you couldn't lie.

"I'm just saying that your hat doesn't really match with your outfit ! Aren't I right ?" He mentioned looking back and forth between you and the bartender.

You sighed loudly and laughed making the two men look at you. "What the hell is wrong with you ?"

He grinned at you before placing a hand on your assailant's shoulder.

"She's right. What is wrong with you, sir ? Do you want to go out of business ? Not serving a customer when they ask.. Come on, that's common courtesy."

The other man let go of your collar harshly and placed his hand on the taller man. You were dropped so harshly, you felt like your sides had just given up on themselves.

You looked back at the stranger and opened your mouth slightly but stopped when he cut you off.

"I'll take care of the rest little lady ! Run away, m'kay ?" He winked at you before going back to fight with the bartender.

While they were arguing you left secretly through the hole the other mage at left, but not before thanking him. He didn't look back at you however.

Seemed he hadn't heard you.

You regained your breath and sat on a hill nearby. You had been thinking about him the entire time you were running.

Who was he ? Why was he so oblivious ? How was he so oblivious ?

Those question had been floating in your head. You really couldn't get him out of your head. Where you even going to see him again ?

Seemed you hadn't had to wait. The man in question passed in front of you was running away holding bottles in his hands, the content in his bag falling to your feet.

Among the items a book had intrigued you in particular.

"Sir ! You left your... book ?" You looked at it closely.

The cover included a woman in a skimpy outfit.

"Oh my stars !" You screamed, dropping it on the ground. Yet you couldn't leave the book alone.

It was so intriguing.. You picked it back up slowly.

But before you could turn the book open, it was taken away from your hands.

"Aren't you too young for these ?" He said looking down at you smirking. You apologized to him and thanked him for earlier.

"No need for the formalities. You're very much welcome." He replied drinking from a beer bottle. "So, what's a young girl like you doing in the streets ?"

You usually didn't really open up to strangers but for some strange reason you felt really at ease with him.

Or at least his aura seemed very inviting. You looked down and played with your hands. You hesitated before confiding in him your thoughts.

"I.. I have nowhere else to go. And the money I make is pretty good, so..."

"Eh... It sucks to be alone. Have you ever considered joining Fairy Tail ?"

"Fairy Tail ? Aren't they the crazy ones ?" You had heard a lot about that guild. It was a little intimidating every time you walked passed it. You knew they possessed many powerful mages with different skills.

"Yeah.. I've seen your type of magic before. I think you'd be a good fit." He took a gulp, looking at you smiling.

You didn't know if you had to take that statement as a compliment or an insult. You decided that it was a compliment and smiled back at him.

"I'll think about it. Are you from Fairy Tail ?"

If he was, you'd consider going. After all, considering how interesting he was, who knew how many others from there were like that also. Though you guessed he was, seeing how he was currently vouching for them..

"I am ! Mind if I show you something ?"

"Oh.. I guess." You turned to face him and sat on your knees.

He grinned at you and advanced towards you.

He then put his hand behind your head and when he pulled it away, jewels had filled his palms. 10,000 jewels, from what you were able to see.

"Tada. That's the amount you were going to make, right ?"

"Y-Yeah... How did you know ?"

Dumbfounded, he scratched his chin and cleared his throat. "I've been watching you for a bit now. That's how I knew."

"Oh..." You pulled your knees together and coughed. "Regardless, thank you so much !"

He placed the jewels in your hand and smiled. "Oh but, wait, there's more."

This time he pulled out the yellow hat the bartender had been wearing and put it on his own head.

You chuckled before looking at him. He ruffled your head roughly and smiled the warmest smile you'd ever received. You looked down in embarrassment.

He stood up and stretched his joints. "I really have to leave now... I'm already behind schedule as it is. But.. I'm not leaving without you."

You looked up at him, hurriedly and protested.

"What ? No ! I can fend for myself. You don't have to take me in or anything !"

He started filling his bag with different items, some of them very questionable, and looked back at you.

"Yeah... No. I'm definitely not leaving you here alone."

"Uh- ? No, no ! It's really fine !" You waved your hands around attempting to make him let go of that idea.

He glared down at your face before coming behind you and pushing you forward.

You tried to fight it out but he was simply too powerful so you gave up. Letting your shoulders slump forward, you curled your hand around your middle. He grinned, making you hold on to your side even more.

"Cute. What's your name anyway ?" He asked letting you go, while walking away.

"I-It's Y/N..." He pulled you alongside him by hand.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Y/N, I'm Gildarts ! From now on, you're coming with me. I'm going to make you get into Fairy Tail !"

˚

"The hole is still there.." You grinned and walked further away to where the infamous hill was.

"He was so stupid... But then again, if he wasn't..."

If it hadn't been for that small act of kindness who knew where you'd be now ?

You looked up to the sky seeing it's color mix up like a rushed painting. You felt really nostalgic at the moment so you continued walking around.

You decided to take a break in a nearby coffee shop and sat at the nearest table.

You ordered coffee and looked to your left to find Cana sitting in another table. You ran up to her but told the waiter that you were going to change seats before.

"Cana, hey !"

"Oh, hey ! How are you doing Y/N ?" She told you pushing the chair next to her.

"I'm fine. I was just taking a stroll out." You looked out the window next to you.

"That's good.."

The both of you kept looking out the window. It really was charming outside. A part of you hoped he was looking up the sky too.

"Hey, Y/N ?" She started and continued after hearing you hum, "Now that we're here, I.. I do want to apologize about not telling you about him being my father sooner."

You turned to her rapidly.

"Uh ? It wasn't your fault Cana..."

"No. I really shouldn't have made you learn about our connection this way."

You had been able to participate the S-class Mage Promotion Trial the same year you joined. Master had let you watch but didn't let you participate with the others because he considered it to be cheating.

Though you had gotten told to watch over the other mages. When it was over you had hung out with the other girls talking about what had just happened.

You had been wondering where Cana was so you had gotten up to look for her but left as soon as you saw her and Gildarts talking, not wanting to disrupt their conversation.

Eventually they had come back but Cana avoided telling you what the talk was about instead going to talk to the others.

You had later learned that they were daughter and father through the mouths of the other Fairy Tail members a year later.

"If I had told you earlier then... I feel really bad right now.."

"Don't ! It really wasn't your fault, I totally understand !" You shook her shoulders trying to make her understand.

"I just feel like... That fact just made our relationship super awkward..."

"It did, I can't lie about that." You grinned at that. She was right in a way.

"See ? I always considered you like a big sister Y/N. If it hadn't been for that then maybe.." She trailed off and took a heavy sigh.

"Hey.. Now that we're on the topic, I know we both feel weird talking about what would our relationship be if you were to get with him, if you want we can talk about it now.."

"I don't even want to think about this or him right now to be honest !" You placed your head on the table sighing.

"You're right. Sorry Y/N." Cana grinned at you, patting your head.

You looked up and stared at her face. She stared back at you, the both of you looking crazy just staring at each other. She let out a big laugh before you joined her, laughing loudly together.

She smiled and looked to her left pointing soon after. "Look at this girl shooting her shot !"

In front of you was a young girl asking out the waiter who had previously served you.

You smiled back and placed your head on your hand. "I hope he accepts ! Go get him !"

You looked back at Cana with a grin. "Aren't you into anyone these days, Cana ? Boy ? Girl ? Anything in between ?"

Her eyes opened wide and you noticed her blushing slightly.

"I am actually.."

Your mouth gaped open. You were really surprised. You just had to know who it was. "W-who ?!"

She stared back at you, a deadpan expression on her face.

"Alcohol."

You really couldn't hold back laughing after this. Cana followed behind while telling you to pipe down so that you wouldn't get kicked out.

"I'm glad we can joke around again like this Y/N.." She laughed out. "Let's go back to how our relationship was before Tenrou, deal ?" She prompted her arm forward with her pinky up.

You laughed alongside her and smiled brightly promising her too.

"Deal."
