Today was the day. This was it. This day determined your worth as captain of the swim team.

Regionals.

You were both ecstatic and nervous. You were exited that they had made it this far, and nervous because you didn't know weather they would get further, or this would be it.

You were the very first captain of the junior varsity team to be a freshman, so you had a lot to prove, but you knew you could do it.

As the captain of the junior varsity team, it was your job to remain positive and believe in your team, to lift them up and support them, not tear them down and criticize them.

You arrived at the pool where the meet was held, expecting that you would be one of the first there, because you almost always were, but you were happy to see that wasn't the case today.

More than half of the team was here, including c/n. Which made you even happier.

"Sup maggots." You smiled.

Everyone chuckled lightly at your greeting. Everyday you would greet your team with a new term. Yesterday's was 'hello children'. The team found it endearing, but just because you were kind, it didn't mean that you didn't work your team to death.

"Sir, good morning, sir." Laughed c/n.

The rest of the team had arrived, and everyone had set to work, running drills, and taking laps to warm up.

You had about ten minutes until the meet started, and with every passing second you grew more and more anxious and scared. This meet meant everything to you and you were worried you wouldn't be able to live up to the expectations your team, and not to mention your crush, held for you.

Wanting to clear your head, you went outside. you sat down and tried to control your breathing. You put your head between your knees and practiced breathing patterns that you were familiar with, and knew that they would calm you down.

"Hey, is everything okay?" Asked c/n, coming outside, and sitting down on the curb next to you.

"It's just, it's championships you know? What if I can't bring us down the home stretch in the 500? I'm scared." You admitted.

"Hey, no. Don't think like that. You're an amazing swimmer, believe me. You're gonna win this. I know it, the team knows it, and deep down, I know you know it too, so let's go."

He stood up and offered you his hand, taking it, you got up and walked back to your team, knowing that even if you lost, it was still a privilege to get this far.

*time skip brought to you by Zach Herron's hilarious ass*

It was time for c/n's event, and you couldn't wait to watch him in the water.

Whenever he swam, he looked so agile, elegant. He was fast, and each stroke was perfectly executed. He seemed as if he was more at peace in the water than anywhere else, and that was something you could relate to.

The event was over, and c/n had placed first. You congratulated him with a hug, and got ready for your event, which was the next, and last one.

So far, the two teams were tied, and it was up to you to win. You slipped your goggles over your eyes, and looked over at your opponent. R/n.

As soon as  the referee signaled the start of the event, the both of you were off. For half of the race, you and your opponent were neck and neck, both swimming at the same pace. It wasn't until you were more than halfway through when you realized you needed to step it up.

You pushed yourself to go faster and you did. R/n was now one lap behind you, and your level of hope grew with every passing second.

It was now the last lap and R/n had caught up to you. You closed your eyes and told yourself, no matter what, all that matters is that you tries your best.

In one last burst of adrenaline, you shot forward and hit the wall, completing the lap and pulling yourself out of the water.

You opened your eyes and saw r/n getting out of the pool just after you.

You were first.

You chuckled and covered your mouth in disbelief, smiling wider than you had ever smiled.

C/n ran over to you and lifted you off the ground, engulfing you in one of the best hugs of your life. "I knew you could do it." he sighed.

"Yeah," you said placing your hands on his chest, still in his embrace, "thanks to you."

He looked into your eyes, his mirroring the exact same expression your held, happiness.

You looked into his eyes, and before you could comprehend what was happening, his lips were on yours.

It was everything a first kiss should have been, sweet, gentle, passionate, just freakin' amazing.

You both broke off from the kiss and pressed your foreheads against each other's, just looking into each other's eyes.

"Do you know how long I've been waiting to do that?"

"I think I have an idea." You responded, smiling.
