Ace's POV

---------------

I was taking Hannah home today.

If she was any normal person, she would be stuck in this hospital for at least a couple weeks. She wasn't normal though, because she was one of my soldiers. Hospitals have a specific list of people. They don't know their background or jobs, but they are aware that we fund a large portion of their facilities and, in the end, have more power than they do. I'm one of the few on that list.

I knew Hannah was dying to go home, but I could tell the boys were ready to go too. Antony wouldn't stop whining about wanting to go home and Oliver started too when his phone died. I wouldn't let him leave to go get a charger so he ended up going by every hospital room and begging for one. Eventually a nurse gave him one to keep him from disrupting other patients. Vinnie didn't complain, but he started to get grumpy. Whenever anyone would try to talk to him all he would respond with was "Can we go home?". I swear, you would think this mafia is being ran by me and a bunch of damn five year olds.

Since we were only in New York, the plane ride to the safe house was only around thirty minutes. Even though Hannah was released from the hospital, I didn't want to take any chances. I made her lay down and get some rest in the back bedroom, but she was too giddy about going home and couldn't sleep.

When we pulled into the driveway, Thea and Leo immediately walked out. I helped Hannah out of the car as Thea immediately pulled her into a hug, causing me to freeze. The hug was a little too tight for my liking, seeing as she was hurt.

"I missed you, agape!" Thea told her. Leo laughed when he saw my reaction and gently pulled Thea away, while I immediately wrapped my arm around Hannah.

"I missed you too." Hannah smiled.

I couldn't help but notice how her eyes slightly teared up at the sight of her friend. I knew they were tears of joy, but I still didn't like them. I would pay millions if I never saw another tear slip from her  beautiful brown eyes. I pulled her closer, as an attempt to comfort her. As if it was instinct, she leaned into me more.

"Glad to see you're still alive." Leo smiled down to her.

"Thanks. Where's Sarah and Ben?" The couple looked at each other before looking back at her with a devious grin.

"Sarah's lover just came back from the dead, where do you think they are?" Leo smirked. Hannah stared at him for a moment, confused, before her eyes widen and her cheeks turn bright red. The sky flashed with lightning, illuminating the cloudy sky, followed by a roar of thunder that made Hannah jump.

"Alright, let's head inside." I tell them, looking up at the sky.

I walked inside with Hannah and attempted to take her upstairs, but she had other plans. She made a B line straight for the kitchen. She opened the door to the freezer and dug around until she found a pint of Ben and Jerry's cookie dough ice cream, Vinnie's secret stash. She grabbed a spoon and slowly lifted herself onto the barstool before taking a bite of the ice cream and moaning.

"Damn, even I don't make you moan that good." I joked.

"Ace, I was kidnapped for three days and in the hospital for two. I'm hungry, sore, and tired. Now is not the time for sex jokes." She says with a mouthful of cookie dough.

"If you're hungry, sore, and tired then why don't you let me take you upstairs and rest while someone makes you an actual meal?"

"Ice cream is an actual meal."

"No, it's not."

"Ace..." She groans. I throw my hands up in surrender, knowing this isn't an argument I can win, and go to sit next to her.

We sat in a comfortable silence while she at her ice cream and I responded to emails. It started to rain outside and I could hear the tv in the living room. From the sounds, I knew it was a cartoon. I saw Antony walk past and go to the living room before I heard arguing. The tv went back and forth from the cartoon to something else as the arguing increased. It went to the cartoon again and the arguing immediately stopped, causing me to look up. I heard screaming as Oliver immediately bolted past the entrance to the kitchen, Antony directly behind them.

"We're in a fucking mansion with at least ten tv's, can't they just go to separate rooms?!" I sighed. Hannah was just dying laughing. I don't know how the hell she missed this place.

We heard more footsteps as they made their way towards the kitchen. Vinnie walked in, nodding to me before going to the fridge. He opened the freezer and dug around for a few minutes, mumbling curses. He turned around, about to say something, when he noticed Hannah. Actually, he noticed what Hannah was eating.

"Is that my ice cream?!" He asked, pointing to the carton she was digging in.

"Maybe..." She said as she innocently looked up at him. He snatched the carton off the counter and looked in it before grumbling.

"It's half gone!" He whined. He examined it more before he gasped. "And you ate all of the cookie dough chunks!"

"Sorry?" She shrugged. She tried to seem like she was genuinely sorry, but I could tell she didn't give a damn. He slid the carton back to her before pointing an accusatory finger.

"You will pay for this, Hannah Hale!" He yelled, storming out of the kitchen.

Hannah happily finished the ice cream, finding two more chunks of cookie dough before throwing away the empty carton. I finally convinced her to go upstairs and rest. She agreed, as long as I carried her there. She got on my back and I took her to my room, gently placing her on her side of the bed. She sat there for about two minutes, until she complained that she wanted a shower.

"Want me to join you?" I smirked. In reality, I really just wanted to be next to her at all times incase she needed my help, but I wouldn't mind some shower sex...

"Ace, it's a shower. You will be okay if I'm not by your side for five minutes."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes." She smiled as she got up and made her way to my bathroom.

I sat on the edge of the bed as I heard the shower start. I know she's probably irritated with me following her around right now, but I don't care. I just want to make sure she's safe. I just got her back, yet I feel like she's going to be taken from me again.

How in the hell did this woman get so much power over me? And when? Before her, I didn't give a shit if anyone lived or died, it'd just be another normal day in this life. Now though, I was afraid of what would happen if Hannah wasn't within arms reach.

"Ace!" I heard her yell from the bathroom. It immediately jolted me from my thoughts as I ran towards the bathroom, worried something happened.

"What's wrong?!" I ask, opening the door as steam fills the air. She sticks her head out of the shower with a defeated look.

"I need your help."

"With what, amore?" I smirked.

"My wrist is fractured and the stitches on my abdomen keep me from being able to move as much, can you get my back? And my legs...?" I nod and she immediately turned around. I undressed before getting into the shower and gently placing a kiss on her shoulder, causing her to sigh.

I helped her shower and also bathed myself. To say both of us needed it was an understatement, I'm a pretty clean guy, but with her missing and being in the hospital, I haven't had time to eat a meal, much less take a shower.

It was killing me, seeing her gorgeous body right now. There were so many things I wanted to do to her, but she was hurt. I couldn't, nor would I, start anything right now. It'll be hard, but I can wait. I'd always wait for her.

We got out and I threw on a pair of sweatpants before helping her into one of my shirts and some shorts. I put on a movie as we got into bed. Not only were we both exhausted, but the rainy weather made us want nothing more than to sleep the day away.

I laid on my back as Hannah cuddled into me, getting comfortable. I could hear laughing in the hall outside of my door, from Thea, while Leo was scolding someone, probably Oliver. I rolled my eyes while Hannah let out a little laugh.

"I don't know how you missed this place..."

"Well I missed this bed more than anything..." She said, stretching her legs out. "But I missed seeing everyone. Sure, it can be a little hectic around here, but that's also what makes this place feel like home. Growing up in the foster care system, you realize that you can live anywhere, sleep anywhere, yet those places will never feel like home. When I got to the compound and I met my friends, met you, I realized that home wasn't a place. Home is when you're surrounded by the people that you love." I looked down at her, a small smile coming over my face.

"You're right. But home is also a place where you can have peace and comfort, neither of which are common things in this house."

"You'll live." She rolls her eyes, lightly slapping my chest.

"Live? sure. Sleep? No way in hell."

"You know, you might like it more if you joined in on the fun."

"I work, I don't have time for fun."

"Then make time." she yawned, her eyes starting to close.

"It's not that simple."

"It is, you just have to let yourself..."

We were both silent for a moment, as she dozily stared up at me.

"Go to sleep, amore."

"I don't want to..." She tried to fight it but her eyes kept closing more and more.

"Why?"

"Because I want to keep gazing at the man I love..."

And just like that, she fell asleep.
